Chapter 118 Mutual Criticism

When Wen Yi saw Second Master Gu standing at the door, he was immediately frightened, perhaps because he felt guilty, and his heart was pounding wildly.

The other person had a knowing smile, and given the scars all over their face, the smile was somewhat frightening.

Wen Yi's hands, which were hanging on her thighs, clenched into fists silently.

Wen Yi was initially feeling guilty, but then she thought, what's wrong with asking someone to help investigate the whereabouts of her maternal grandparents? What's there to feel guilty about?

If it weren't for Master Gu forcibly bringing her to the capital, she would have already learned from Mother Wen what exactly happened to her maternal grandparents.

Thinking of this, Wen Yi's feelings of guilt and panic gradually faded, and she faced Master Gu with a straight face.

Wen asked, "Is there something you need, Second Master?"

Gu Huaixu observed Wen Yi's emotional shifts and found the woman quite interesting.

Gu Huaixu shook his head, "Seeing that our wife had been out in the restroom for so long, I was worried that something might have happened to her, so I came to check on her."

"Then thank you for your concern, Second Master. I'm almost 30 years old, going to the toilet won't kill me."

Gu Huaixu chuckled and almost reflexively reached out to pat Wen Yi's head. Wen Yi resisted and moved away.

"Boarding time is approaching, I'll go out first. If you need to use the restroom, please do so as soon as possible."

After Wen Yi finished speaking, she immediately started walking towards the waiting room.

Gu Huaixu didn't stop him, and just stood there watching Wen Yi's back, finding it quite amusing.

Gu Huaixu even thought that a person can change because of what they experience, or that everyone has a bit of personality hidden in their bones, and their true personality will be exposed as they experience certain things.

Wen Yi's true personality is really... both sharp and rational.

"Second Master, it's time to board." Luo Yi stepped forward to remind him, glancing in the direction Wen Yi had left, and added, "Luo Jia is waiting at the airport."

"Tell him not to show up," Gu Huaixu ordered.

Luo Yi didn't understand. "Second Master, are you worried that Wen Yi will see through our scheme? We've already discussed this before. If Wen Yi asks, we'll say that Luo Jia was recruited by you after Gu Huaixu's 'death'."

“She won’t believe it.” Gu Huaixu sneered. “Don’t treat her like a fool. She’s very smart. She’ll trace the clues from Luo Jia directly to my identity.”

Luo Yi didn't believe Wen Yi was that smart.

It's just a minor position; in this industry, it's not impossible to switch roles like special assistant or secretary.

However, Luo Yi felt that Gu Huaixu was being too cautious, but he didn't dare to express it too much and could only do as Gu Huaixu asked.

Ten minutes later.

Wen Yi and Gu Huaixu boarded a plane bound for the capital.

First class does offer Wi-Fi service. As soon as the plane took off, Wen Yi connected to the Wi-Fi, mainly to stay in touch with Xiao Kongkong at all times.

Wen Yi even used the excuse of communicating with Wen Ge about the follow-up filming to subtly ask Wen Ge about her maternal grandparents. However, the information she got was just as her mother had given her: her maternal grandparents had been arranged to go on a group tour and there were servants to take care of them, so Wen Yi shouldn't worry.

Wen Yi couldn't help but worry.

Wen Yi already had a bad feeling, worried that something had happened to her grandparents. Now that Wen Ge could keep her mouth shut and cover things up so perfectly, Wen Yi was even more worried that something serious might have happened to her grandparents.

Wen Yi's mind became increasingly uneasy.

I'm panicking.

Wen Yi, flustered, kept drinking water.

When Wen Yi drank her eighth glass of water, Gu Huaixu, who was standing next to her, held down Wen Yi's hand, saying, "If you drink any more, you'll get water intoxication."

Wen Yi was irritable and even more resistant to being controlled by the other person. After struggling free from the other person's hand, he raised his head and drank a glass of water in one gulp.

She placed the empty glass on the table. "It's best if you don't interfere in my affairs, Second Master. I followed your advice and knew my place. I accompanied you on your business trip to the capital, and I hope you won't hold a grudge against me."

"What I'm worried about is that if something happens to you, it will interfere with my plans. I'm not holding a grudge against you, nor am I worried about you."

"That's even better. I'm almost 30 years old, how could I not know how to take care of myself? I'm not stupid, right?"

"You're still two years shy of thirty," Gu Huaixu chuckled, reminding him. "Besides, you need to understand that whether you're an idiot or not doesn't mean you won't do stupid things."

"That's because Second Master underestimates me."

"Yes, I underestimated you, so I need to keep an eye on you to prevent you from causing trouble and disrupting my plans."

When Master Gu finished speaking, Wen Yi fell silent.

He stared at him, Wen Yi's gaze cold, her eyes filled with anger. After a dozen seconds, Wen Yi turned her head, closed her eyes to rest, and refused to communicate with Second Master Gu.

Gu Huaixu found it very amusing to see Wen Yi's angry and cold expression.

He still prefers this woman when she's angry and agitated, when she's flustered and impatient, instead of her usual lifeless and quiet self.

It's like a person—it gets angry, it gets irritable, it gets furious. Being quiet and cold is too boring.

Gu Huaixu leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes to rest.

During the three-hour flight, Wen Yi simply closed her eyes to rest and couldn't sleep at all. This was mainly because she had something on her mind. It was already quite remarkable that she could calmly close her eyes and rest for three hours.

The plane arrived in Beijing.

Wen Yi and Gu Huaixu got off the plane together, but they didn't get into the same car.

Luo Yi escorted Wen Yi to the hotel. As for where Master Gu went, Luo Yi didn't say, and Master Gu didn't explain to Wen Yi either. Wen Yi was too lazy to care.

After being taken to the hotel, Wen Yi sent a message to Xiao Kongkong.

Xiao Kongkong called Wen Yi back.

“I’ve done some investigation, and none of the group tours have any information about your maternal grandparents. I also found CCTV footage showing that your maternal grandparents were indeed picked up by the Wen family, but there is no information about their vehicles after Nanjing Road. So you need to wait patiently.”

Wen Yi did not want to hear such an answer.

She was anxious to find out how her grandparents were doing, but since she had asked Xiao Kongkong for help, she was doing her best. Wen Yi couldn't be rude to Xiao Kongkong, let alone lose her temper.

"I understand, thank you. Please contact me as soon as possible if you have any news," Wen Yi said, adding, "No matter when, I will answer your call immediately."

"I will investigate as soon as possible, Second Madam, please rest assured," Xiao Kongkong promised.

"Thanks."

"You're too kind, Second Madam."

After Xiao Kongkong finished speaking, he exchanged a few words with Wen Yi, and then the two of them hung up the phone.

At the same time, Wen Yi's doorbell rang. Without much thought, Wen Yi turned around and opened the door.

It was a waiter pushing a cart full of food. "Madam, this is what the Second Master asked me to prepare for you."

Wen Yi nodded indifferently, told the waiter to put it aside, and then told the waiter to leave her room. Faced with a car full of delicious food, Wen Yi had no appetite.

I just grabbed a bottle of water, turned it on, drank most of it, and then sat on the sofa in a daze. But before I'd been sitting there for long, my consciousness started to fade...
