When Wen looked up, she saw Wen Ge walking into the house.
As she left, Wen Ge glanced in the direction of Madam Gu.
Not long after Wen Ge entered the house, Madam Gu tidied herself up and quietly left the crowd, heading towards the inner room.
Wen Yi grabbed Gu Huaixu, "Come with me."
She left the back of the crowd and went straight out of the house. Even if these people saw her, they would just think that Wen Yi was heartless and couldn't stay.
Unbeknownst to anyone, Wen Yi led Gu Huaixu around to the back door.
There is a broken window next to the back door. Wen Yi promised her grandparents that she would find someone to fix it before she left, but it still hasn't been fixed.
Wen Yi felt a pang in her heart.
"Mrs. Gu, I am very sorry about what happened today."
Wen Ge's voice came from inside the house.
Wen Yi held Gu Huaixu's hand and pressed it against the wall, which would prevent the people inside from seeing them and ensure that they could hear the conversation inside clearly.
“Miss Wen, what are you saying? Today’s incident was actually caused by our decision to wrong you. Why are you the one apologizing?” Madam Gu’s words were sarcastic.
After she finished speaking, nearly a minute passed before Wen Ge sighed helplessly, "Mrs. Gu, I'm a rather straightforward person, so I hope our conversation can be direct."
"Oh, directly? How do you want to be direct?"
"I can only say that today's incident was not planned by me or the Wen family. Someone deliberately set up this scheme to make our Wen family offend Madam Gu and to use Madam Gu to target our Wen family."
Wen frowned when he heard Wen Ge recount these events.
Wen Ge has revealed her entire plan.
Wen Yi couldn't help but look at the man beside her. The man happened to be looking at her at that moment, with an interesting look in his eyes, as if he was mocking Wen Yi for setting up such a big scheme, only to have it all seen through in the end.
Wen Yixin felt much happier, but also a little flustered.
She didn't know how Wen Ge knew all this; logically speaking, with Wen Ge's intelligence, she shouldn't know so much.
As Wen Yi pondered, Madam Gu's sarcastic words rang out, "What Miss Wen said is rather laughable. Why would I want to target your Wen family for no reason?"
“Mrs. Gu has always valued family background and was interested in Mr. Gu’s marriage,” Wen Ge said. “The main reason Mr. Gu chose our Wen family was because of my reputation and good reputation in the industry. I think it was also the result of Mrs. Gu’s careful selection.”
"You're quite confident."
"Of course I have that confidence, but later, because of my sister, you felt that our Wen family was rather chaotic, so you canceled the marriage."
"And then, what are you trying to say?"
"What I want to say is that I know if I don't insist today, given the outcome of this farce, you will definitely make Young Master Gu acknowledge me and promise to marry me."
"But if you promise to marry me today, and if something happens to my Wen family tomorrow or the day after, if my reputation is ruined, or if some indecent photos of me are suddenly leaked, then it will be perfectly reasonable for Young Master Gu to break off the engagement."
Wen Yi felt a chill run down her spine after hearing Wen Ge's words.
Wen Ge revealed her entire plan, down to the last detail.
Even without Wen Yi peeking, she could tell that Madam Gu's gaze towards Wen Ge was a mixture of shock and a touch of admiration.
"Go on, what do you want to say?"
"As I just said, I am also a victim in this matter, as are my parents."
"So you mean, who orchestrated this whole thing?"
“My sister, Wen Yi!” Wen Ge said Wen Yi’s name with certainty and determination.
Wen pressed himself against the wall, subtly tightening his grip on Master Gu's hand.
Mrs. Gu said, "Your sister..."
“My sister has always harbored resentment towards me, feeling that our parents love me more than her, and that she was the one who ended up marrying into the Royal Garden family, while I was lucky enough to marry into the Gu family. So she holds a grudge. Plus, my sister eloped with someone before, and my parents forcibly brought her back…”
"I'm sorry, Madam Gu, please don't spread these private matters after you've heard them today. Our Wen family still has some dignity."
"Go on, I'm still quite curious about all the grudges and feuds in your Wen family."
Wen Ge's voice rang out again, "My sister's mind is twisted. She not only wants to deal with me, but also with the entire Wen family. So setting up this scheme today and using Madam Gu's hand to deal with the Wen family is the best thing for her."
"so what?"
"Therefore, I hope that Madam Gu will not be used by others to disrupt the harmony between the Gu family and the Wen family."
"You've told me all this, and that's all?"
"Yes, but I don't want Madam Gu to become someone else's pawn," Wen Ge said firmly.
Wen Yi did not hear any response from Madam Gu.
Wen Yi felt that there was no point in listening to Madam Gu's subsequent response, or what Wen Ge and Madam Gu were saying to each other.
Wen Yi pulled Gu Huaixu and walked in another direction.
She walked towards the stream in front of her maternal grandparents' yard.
She had been pushed down before.
Wen Yi wandered aimlessly around the stream, while Gu Huaixu followed her without saying anything.
The two of them walked quietly like that.
Wen Yi finally squatted down, exhausted, staring at the calm water.
Master Gu squatted down as well. "Are you very sad that everything you planned was exposed?"
Wen Yi didn't respond to Second Master Gu's words, but slowly turned around to look at him, and then smiled.
She turned her head and continued to look at the water.
After about three or four minutes, Wen Yi slowly spoke, "I'm not sad about this, I'm just a little surprised."
What's so surprising?
"I'm surprised that Wen Ge suddenly developed a brain."
Before today, Wen Ge was someone who had high expectations for Wen Yi's plan and was even more ruthless than Wen Yi had planned.
Wen Ge was very anxious to get engaged to Young Master Gu.
But today, not only did he refuse the seemingly logical approach of 'catching them in the act,' he even told Madam Gu that everything he said was part of Wen Yi's plan.
It's like suddenly getting a new brain.
"Do you think anyone has ever suddenly had a completely different brain overnight?" Wen Yi asked Gu Huaixu with a serious expression.
Gu Huaixu was amused by her "ha" and reached out to tap Wen Yi on the head, "Silly girl."
Wen Yi was deep in thought about Wen Ge, but when the other person made this move, Wen Yi suddenly froze.
The image of Gu Huaixu tapping her head and calling her "silly egg" flashed through her mind. The last syllable of the word "egg" was different from others, with a more subtle tone.
Only Gu Huaixu could utter such a 'fool'.
Only Ah Xu could pronounce it in that tone...
