Chapter 148 Breaking the Deadlock

Wen Yi watched as Gu Zeyu's expression became increasingly complex and changeable.

At first, she found it hard to accept, but then, for some reason, when she looked up at Wen Yi, her eyes were particularly firm, and she even straightened her posture.

Wen Yi frowned, a bad feeling creeping over her.

Gu Zeyu placed his hands on the table and clasped them together. He didn't rush to speak but instead lowered his eyes, appearing to be in a state of deep thought.

Gu Zeyu has a mature and stable image. When he wears a suit, he is a gentleman and has the feel of a friendly older brother next door.

When Gu Zeyu first came to visit and made contact with Wen Ge, Wen Yi didn't have any particular thoughts. However, when Gu Zeyu suddenly said that he wasn't interested in Wen Ge but was most interested in Wen Yi, Wen Yi began to consider the possibility of this.

She imagined that if she chose this man, if she really married him, and if he was mature enough to handle things, her life would be much better.

But those thoughts only flashed through my mind at the time.

Gu Zeyu looked up. "Wen Yi, I know what you're thinking."

Wen Yi's face didn't show much expression, only a look of not quite understanding as she looked at Gu Zeyu.

Gu Zeyu continued, "I know what you're doing and what you're trying to achieve. But I want to tell you, it's useless."

“I understand your thoughts, and I won’t let you continue like this. Wenyi, life is your own, and I don’t want you to ruin yourself or face it in a negative way.”

Hearing this, Wen Yi didn't know what Gu Zeyu was trying to say, but she found it quite amusing.

She countered with a question, "Then what do you think life should be? What is the meaning of life that I should not face in a negative way?"

"The meaning of life lies in experience," Gu Zeyu answered decisively.

Wen Yi remained silent, pondering the answer.

Experience?

Her mind raced through images of her growth over the years, and of Gu Huaixu walking away with her maternal grandparents.

To this day, Wen Yi doesn't remember clearly how she grew up, but she remembers very clearly the scene of Gu Huaixu and her grandparents leaving.

Before Gu Huaixu's car accident, his mother rushed in with the household registration book and the police, twisting the truth and claiming that Wen Yi had been abducted. The biggest evidence was that Wen Yi was her daughter. Holding the household registration book, she said whatever she said in the name of her mother was right.

Even though my daughter is almost thirty, she's still wrong. I'm doing this for your own good, and you should do it for the good of the family, otherwise you're being selfish.

But when her maternal grandparents passed away, for the sake of her reputation and to keep her in check, she preferred to leave the two elderly people at the hospital funeral home.

If Wen Yi hadn't made a scene, the two elderly people would probably already be two ordinary urns in the crematorium.

How ironic.

So what exactly is life?

"The life that Young Master Gu wants to experience is a smooth-sailing life, not the meaning of life that I'm talking about."

“You can have it,” Gu Zeyu said. “As long as you want it, as long as you are willing, you can experience it. I know you’re not having an easy time right now, but as long as you’re willing to change, you will eventually get the life you want.”

Gu Zeyu spoke excitedly and reached out to grab Wen Yi's hand.

Wen Yi didn't dodge, but looked at Gu Zeyu with a rather amused expression.

Gu Zeyu said, "You were wrong just now. Life is not always smooth sailing. There will always be difficulties. But our purpose and what we need to do is to break through the predicament."

"So, Young Master Gu, what do you think is my predicament, and how do you want to help me break out of it?"
