Chapter 213 The Bartender Suddenly Resigns

After receiving a phone call from the director, Wen Yi changed her clothes and went to the bar.

When Wen arrived, it was only afternoon. The bar had just opened, and not all the staff had arrived yet; it was deserted.

Wen Yi ordered some food and sat in the booth where she first met Gu Huaixu.

She used to come at night.

When Gu Huaixu was still alive, Wen Yi would arrive in a hurry and basically get himself drunk as soon as he arrived.

After Gu Huaixu passed away, Wen Yi didn't want to touch this place anymore. He had come here in a daze before, and had never observed the place so carefully as he did today.

There was hardly anyone there at the moment. The supervisor was making final adjustments, the waiters were tidying up, and the entire bar was quiet. The bar counter was empty, and the bartenders hadn't officially started work yet.

It was only then that Wen Yi realized the bar was quite large, with a simple mirrored design that made the entire bar feel spacious.

When the lights are on and the music starts at night, the atmosphere really kicks in.

Wen Yi turned his gaze away.

She waited until evening when the atmosphere warmed up, but the familiar bartender at the bar never appeared. The bartender standing at the bar now had a different face.

Wen Yi asked a waiter, "Did the guy who was mixing drinks at the bar switch shifts?"

"Oh, he quit. He just resigned yesterday."

"You just resigned yesterday?"

"Well, I heard that his house was demolished and he received a large sum of money, but I don't know the specifics. Anyway, he's not doing it anymore," the waiter replied after thinking for a moment.

"Do you have his contact information?" Wen asked.

The waiter thought for a moment, "I don't have any, but my colleague does."

Wen took the menu and ordered some drinks with a high commission rate from the waiter.

Seeing this, the waiter immediately smiled and said, "I'll go get your contact information from a colleague right away."

Wen Yi waited in her seat for about ten minutes before the waiter returned.

The waiter, however, had a serious expression.

"Miss, I asked my colleague for it, but he has blocked all of our colleagues' contact information and canceled his phone number. This is the address we know of him, nothing else."

Wen Yi frowned as she listened to the waiter's feedback.

Wen Yi can understand the actions of suddenly leaving the company and blocking the contact information of former colleagues.

However, Wen Yi didn't quite understand why the phone number was canceled.

"Miss, I'm sorry, this is all I can do." The waiter felt a little guilty when he saw that Wen Yi hadn't taken the small piece of paper with the address written on it.

Actually, I'm more afraid that Wen Yi will cancel all the drinks he just ordered.

Wen Yi snapped out of her daze, took the note, and said, "It's okay, thank you for your help."

The waiter was stunned for a moment, and only breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Wen Yi did not intend to cancel the order.

"Then please enjoy your meal, Miss. Just let me know if you need anything."

"OK."

The waiter nodded and eventually left to get back to work.

Wen Yi sat in his seat, looking at the address and phone number on the document, lost in thought.

until……

"elder sister?"

The familiar voice pulled Wen Yi back to reality. She frowned subconsciously and put away the note in her hand.

Looking up, I saw Wen Ge and Gu Zeyu standing next to the booth.

Wen Ge was wearing a mask and hat, fully armed, but after all, she was her own younger sister, and Wen Yi knew her too well; he would recognize her even if she were reduced to ashes.

"Sister, it really is you."

Wen Ge sat down with a smile, "I thought I had mistaken you for someone else, I didn't even dare to recognize you."

She sat down next to Wen Yi and hugged Wen Ge. "After what happened yesterday, I was worried about you. I was thinking of going to the Royal Garden to see you someday. I didn't expect to run into you here."

As Wen Ge spoke, her gaze swept over the wine on Wen Yi's table, revealing a surprised expression. She looked up and exchanged a glance with Gu Zeyu, then looked at Wen Yi as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.

She didn't say anything, but the glance she exchanged with Gu Zeyu and the look of heartache on her face when she saw Wen Yi seemed to have said everything.

Wen Yi is an alcoholic, Wen Yi has fallen into depravity, and Wen Yi is in a bad situation.

Wen Yi was feeling rather upset and didn't bother with Wen Ge, so she put her things away.

"You guys have fun, the table is on me, I'm leaving now," Wen Yi said.

"Sister, why did you leave like that? This way..."

Wen Yi ignored Wen Ge's words and quickened her pace to leave.

She wanted to go to the bartender's house to see what was going on. If the bartender was home, that would be fine, but if he was not home, had mysteriously disappeared, or had gone somewhere else, then there would be a big problem.

Wen Yi was so engrossed in thinking that she walked quickly and didn't notice anyone calling her from behind.

As Wen Yi arrived at the garage and unlocked the car door, preparing to get in, a figure suddenly rushed out from behind and pressed down on Wen Yi's car door.

Wen Yi looked up in surprise and found it was Gu Zeyu.

He had clearly chased after me all the way, his face still covered in sweat. "I called you for ages and you didn't even respond."

"Sorry, I didn't hear you."

"You seem troubled," Gu Zeyu said, pressing the issue. "Did something happen because of yesterday? Didn't I hear that Mr. Liang took Mrs. Liang to..."

"Young Master Gu, is there something you want with me?"

Wen Yi didn't let Gu Zeyu continue speaking, but asked directly.

Gu Zeyu had chased after Wen Yi because he was worried about her, whether she was having emotional issues because of what happened yesterday, or whether the Royal Garden was making things difficult for her.

Wen Yi's direct question caught Gu Zeyu off guard.

Wen Yi continued, "If Young Master Gu has nothing else to do, please step aside. I have to leave."

"Something's up."

"Please speak."

"It's not convenient to talk here, shall we go to the coffee shop over there and chat?" Gu Zeyu pointed to the coffee shop not far away.

Wen Yi said, "Young Master Gu, I'm sorry, I really have something to do today. If this matter isn't urgent, we can talk about it another day."

Wen Yi's refusal was quite clear; she gestured for Gu Zeyu to let go of the door he was holding onto, indicating that she should leave.

However, Gu Zeyu wouldn't let it go. "I said I have something to do. Let's sit down and talk over a cup of coffee."

"Young Master Gu, I don't like being forced."

"I just need the time it takes to drink a cup of coffee," Gu Zeyu insisted.

It's truly rare for someone as privileged as the eldest son of the Gu family to be rejected like this.

Wen Yi didn't like this aggressive approach either, and said bluntly, "I don't think there's any time like a cup of coffee between me and Young Master Gu."

"Also, Mr. Gu, please remember that the woman you brought is still in the bar. She's very beautiful, and even with a mask on, her pretty, innocent eyes look especially pure and charming in the bar. Are you sure you don't want to go back and check on her?"

Wen Yi's words made Gu Zeyu soften a bit, and she continued, "Or is it that Young Master Gu deliberately left his female companion in such a chaotic place, hoping that something unexpected would happen?"

If something unexpected really happens, can Young Master Gu afford the responsibility? Or will he have to go back and ask Madam Gu for help to resolve these troubles?
