Chapter 27: Getting Himself into Trouble

Gu Huaixu understood Wen Yi's thoughts perfectly.

Ke Wen didn't care. What was stressful for her was that Gu Huaixu was getting so close and flirting with her, and she was finding it hard to resist.

"It's almost over there, I need to go down and get busy." Wen Yi found an excuse to slip away.

Gu Huaixu grabbed the person, preventing them from leaving, saying, "It's not over yet."

Wen Yi wanted to refuse, but Gu Huaixu held her tightly, so she could only maintain this stiff posture, staring ahead and appreciating the performance and promotion on the stage.

Wen Yi didn't dare to speak much.

As the publicity campaign drew to a close, Wen Yi found an excuse to quickly slip away, saying, "I need to deal with this; if I'm late, I won't be able to smooth things over."

She let go of Gu Huaixu and left quickly.

Wen Yi headed towards the backstage area, where the main actors were gradually leaving the stage.

Wen Ge, beaming with joy, was escorted off the stage by her staff, while audience members chanted her name, eagerly anticipating her performance.

Wen Yi stepped forward and grabbed Wen Ge, "Wen Ge, do you want to focus on acting on set in the future?"

Wen Ge asked in confusion, "Sister, what are you talking about?"

“You took Lin Manqing’s spot in the center, so you should at least say hello and apologize to her.”

"Am I not the female lead?" Wen Ge asked with an innocent smile, but then added, "However, since my sister asked me to apologize, I will."

Wen Yi didn't say much, and took Wen Ge's hand as they walked towards the corridor where Lin Manqing had left.

Outsiders cannot enter the back area. Lin Manqing and her agent walked one after the other in the corridor.

Lin Manqing wore sunglasses and had a cold and aloof expression.

"Miss Lin!" Wen Yi called out.

Lin Manqing stopped in her tracks, turned her head and immediately noticed Wen Ge, whose eyes behind sunglasses looked extremely cold.

Wen Yi gave Wen Ge a push.

Wen Ge stepped forward, bowed, and said, "Sister Manqing, as a newcomer, I am not familiar with the rules and did not realize that I was standing in the center position. I am very sorry."

Lin Manqing took off her sunglasses, raising an eyebrow haughtily, "Unconscious?"

She sneered, "I see you're standing ramrod straight, not even willing to move an inch."

"I was so immature, I'm sorry, Sister Manqing. I will definitely be more careful in the future."

Wen Ge spoke emotionally, her eyes welling up with tears when she looked up, like a little white flower that had suffered a lot of grievances.

Lin Manqing sneered and walked up to Wen Ge. "You think you can play this innocent little flower game with me?"

"I sincerely apologize." Wen Ge's tears were already streaming down her face.

Wen Yi stepped forward and grabbed Wen Ge. "Sister Manqing, it was my fault for not doing my homework with Wen Ge beforehand. This was an oversight on the part of our backstage staff. Wen Ge is young and thinks that being the female lead means being in the center position. She's not mature enough. I'm very sorry."

Wen Yi's attitude was neither humble nor arrogant, which made Lin Manqing take a few more glances at him.

She looked down at Wen Ge and said meaningfully, "The staff are smart, but I don't know if the person in question is smart enough. I hope they don't do anything foolish."

After saying this, Lin Manqing put her sunglasses back on and left in her high heels.

When Wen Yi looked up, Lin Manqing's agent was glancing back at her before leaving with Lin Manqing.

"Did you understand what Lin Manqing said?" Wen Yi suddenly asked Wen Ge.

Wen Ge smiled gently, "Sister, I understand. I know you're doing this for my own good, and I will listen to you."

"There's a celebration banquet tonight. The crew was resting at the hotel at noon. I've arranged a room for you. I'll take you there now."

"Okay, sister."

After Wen Ge finished speaking, she affectionately took Wen Yi's arm and left.

After Wen Yi escorted Wen Ge to the arranged hotel room, Xia Xiaomeng came to find someone.

Wen Yi didn't say much to her, just gave a few instructions and left Wen Ge's room.

No sooner had Wen Yi left than he was dragged to a corner.

"Ah Xu." As soon as Wen Yi called out, Gu Huaixu picked him up and headed for the elevator.

Wen struggled, "Ah Xu, there are many people here."

“There’s no one left,” Gu Huaixu said meaningfully.

The elevator goes straight up to the top floor room.

Gu Huaixu never let go of Wen Yi, carrying her into the room and throwing her onto the bed.

He took off his hat and immediately pressed down and hugged Wen Yi.

Wen struggled, "Ah Xu."

Gu Huaixu wanted to kiss her, but she struggled, which annoyed Gu Huaixu. "Wen Yi."

When he gets angry, he calls her in this emotionless tone.

Wen Yi cupped his face in her hands, "I haven't finished my work yet, and we agreed that it would be yours after the celebration banquet tonight."

Gu Huaixu was not happy about it.

As luck would have it, Gu Zeyu called at that moment.

Wen Yi had just been thrown onto the bed by Gu Huaixu, and her phone was lying next to her with the screen facing up, showing Gu Zeyu's caller ID prominently.

Wen Yi quickly kissed Gu Huaixu, "I'm going to take this call."

Gu Huaixu's face looked rather unpleasant. Afraid that he would do something bad, Wen Yi grabbed Gu Huaixu and pinned him down.

She sat on Gu Huaixu's lap, her expression fierce, "Be good."

Gu Huaixu reached out and pressed Wen Yi down, "Don't mention it, or there's no point in talking."

Wen Yi had no choice but to put the phone on speakerphone.

"Wen Yi." Gu Zeyu's clear and gentle voice came through the phone.

"Young Master Gu."

"Huh? What did you call me?"

Wen Yi hesitated for a moment, stole a glance at Gu Huaixu, and then called out with a forced smile, "Ze Yu."

Gu Huaixu raised an eyebrow and hooked Wen Yi's chin, clearly implying that Wen Yi was addressing him too intimately.

"Today is the press conference for the start of filming of Wen Ge's new drama. How is it progressing?"

"It went smoothly."

"Mm," Gu Zeyu replied.

After exchanging only a few words, the two fell into an awkward silence.

Whether face-to-face or on the phone, Wen Yi always felt that she and Gu Zeyu had very little to talk about and often fell into silence.

Wen Yi wanted to find a topic to talk about, but she was always passive and couldn't think of anything to say.

"Is there a celebration banquet tonight?" Gu Zeyu started a conversation.

"Um."

"What time do you finish?" Gu Zeyu asked. "After we finish, shall I take you to Miss Bar?"

Wen subconsciously looked at Gu Huaixu.

Gu Huaixu, who had been making a fuss, now put on a show of complete indifference, lying on the bed with his hands crossed behind his head, glancing sideways at Wen Yi, waiting for her response to Gu Zeyu.

"Wen Yi, are you listening?"

"I'm listening," Wen Yi quickly replied.

Gu Zeyu continued, "Something unpleasant happened last time, and I want to make it up to you and have a chat while we're at it."

Wen Yi held her phone tightly. "Ze Yu, I'm sorry, but we can't be sure when the celebration party will end. I'm afraid it will be very late by then. How about we reschedule for another day?"

"Of course, contact me if you're in Yukon."

"Okay, well... I'll talk to you later, I'm busy here."

"Um."

Wen Yida breathed a sigh of relief when he hung up Gu Zeyu's call.

Gu Huaixu chuckled, "I thought my sister would continue to stand me up."

"I might really have to stand you up tonight," Wen Yi said with a hint of helplessness.

She picked up her phone and started scrolling through the news, then showed Gu Huaixu the top trending news: "My sister has successfully gotten herself into a mess."

Gu Huaixu glanced at it and scoffed, "Wasn't this arranged by my sister?"
