Chapter 47 Wen Yi Encounters Danger

"So Xiaomeng means that you are Wen Ge's good older sister?" Wen Yi asked.

Xia Xiaomeng raised her chin, "More responsible than you, her own sister!"

"Then I'd like to know, when Sister Xiaomeng dances at nightclubs, does she bring Wen Ge along? Is that the epitome of a good older sister?"

Xia Xiaomeng's face changed after Wen Yi said those words.

Xia Xiaomeng's mother, who had been watching the drama unfold, was stunned when she heard these words. "What did you say... Xia Xiaomeng, weren't you supposed to be a high-level white-collar worker in the city? What do you mean by nightclubs?"

"She's talking nonsense!" Xia Xiaomeng shouted, glaring fiercely at Wen Yi, before turning and leaving.

"Stop right there! Explain yourself today!" Xia Xiaomeng's mother persisted, relentlessly pressing Xia Xiaomeng for clarification.

The yard suddenly became quiet, and Wen was completely exhausted.

When she felt someone tug at her hand, Wen Yi was quite surprised. She saw her grandmother's withered hand, like a tree branch, tightly gripping Wen Yi's hand and patting the back of her hand.

"It must have been tough, right?"

Originally, Wen Yi was just tired, but when her grandmother suddenly asked that question, Wen Yi instantly felt wronged and her nose even stung.

She looked away.

Grandpa said in a deep voice, "Although you lived with your grandparents when you were little, we two old folks watched you grow up. Others may say you're not a good child, but they can't say you're not a good older sister."

Grandma sighed, "If only I had insisted a little more back then and let you stay with us, I don't know how much you've suffered all these years, my poor little girl."

"Grandma." Wen Yi's voice trembled, but she tried her best to hold back and said with a smile, "I'm fine, it's just that there was a misunderstanding."

"I'll go home with Wen Ge after I finish eating," Wen Ge decided.

She didn't want Wen Ge to disturb her grandparents' peace with these trivial matters anymore.

"Stay for a few days," Grandpa said. "I'll call your mom after dinner and have her come pick up Wen Ge. You can stay at home for a few days."

"It's okay, I also have work in the city, so I can't stay here all the time. I was just planning to have a meal and then leave."

Wen Yi forced a smile, took her grandparents' hands on either side, and walked into the house. "I haven't eaten Grandma's food in so long. I'm hungry and need to eat."

She acted coquettishly in a gentle tone.

The elderly couple exchanged glances, but there was nothing they could do. The only thing they could do was to make sure Wen Yi ate his meal properly.

"Come on, Grandma will cook you something delicious, and we'll pack some to take home later," the old lady said cheerfully.

Wen Yi nodded happily.

Because Wen Ge was sick, Gu Zeyu stayed with her the whole time, while Wen Yi went to the kitchen with her grandparents to help out.

As darkness fell, a table was laden with food, and the aroma was wonderful.

Wen Yi hadn't eaten her grandmother's food in a long time, and now she had a big appetite. "Grandpa and Grandma, time to eat!"

After saying that, Wen Yi picked up his chopsticks.

Grandma served Wenyi duck meat, picking out all of Wenyi's favorite parts like duck leg and neck, piling her bowl full.

In contrast, Wen Ge appeared calm sitting to the side.

Grandma picked up chopsticks and put some food on Wen Ge's plate, saying, "Little Ge, don't just look at it. Look how thin you are. Eat more."

"Thank you, Grandma," Wen Ge said sweetly, taking the food her grandma offered.

"Young Master Gu, we don't have any delicacies here, just some simple food. Please just eat a little bit. If you don't like it, you can eat something else when you get back to the city later."

Grandpa is a rather fierce old man. Gu Zeyu has always protected Wen Ge, and even spoke unkindly to Wen Yi just now. So now the old man is not very polite to Gu Zeyu either.

Gu Zeyu smiled politely but didn't say anything more.

He was a pampered young master who wasn't used to the food at his hometown's dining table; frankly, he thought it was dirty.

Wen Yi lowered her head to eat, her gaze fixed on the food in Wen Ge's bowl.

She hadn't touched the food her grandmother had put on her chopsticks, but Wen couldn't resist and reached out to grab it and stuff it into her mouth.

Wen Ge asked in surprise, "Sister?"

Wen said expressionlessly, "Usually when we don't come back, my grandparents eat simple side dishes, which are specially cooked for us."

She ate her food bite by bite, not happy that Wen Ge was wasting the food her grandmother had cooked.

But in Wen Ge's eyes, Wen Yi was not giving her any face. He had already slapped her in the face earlier, and now he was attacking her here.

"I'm sorry, sister, I'll eat it properly," Wen Ge apologized softly.

Wen Yi remained silent and continued to eat with her grandparents. She accepted all the food they offered, even though she was already full, she still cherished the time she spent eating with them.

At the dining table, Wen Ge and Gu Zeyu sat on one side, while Wen Yi sat between her grandparents, being taken care of, yet she seemed isolated.

Wen Ge has always been the center of attention since childhood, and she is neglected whenever she returns to her hometown, which is why she is not happy to go back.

The maternal grandparents are extremely biased; they both have granddaughters, but they only pay attention to Wen Yi. It's ridiculous.

Wen Ge was very unhappy.

Halfway through the meal, Wen Yi's phone rang.

Seeing the caller ID "Ah Xu" above, Wen Yi's heart skipped a beat.

Wen Yi hung up, but Gu Huaixu called again. Afraid that her grandparents would notice, and feeling guilty, Wen Yi quickly grabbed her phone and got up.

"I'm going out to answer a phone call."

After Wen finished speaking, he left his seat and walked outside.

Gu Huaixu called again, and Wen answered, "Hello?"

"I'll come pick you up," Gu Huaixu said succinctly.

Wen was taken aback for a moment before realizing that Gu Huaixu should know she was in her hometown, and even knew her current situation.

In the past, Wen Yi would have been especially happy that Gu Huaixu came to pick her up.

Can……

"No need, I'll go back with Wen Ge later," Wen Yi refused.

Gu Huaixu remained silent for almost a minute before speaking, "Even if we have no relation, can't I even pick you up because I'm just passing by?"

"No need, it's nothing," Wen Yi still refused.

She looks very quiet, but she's very decisive.

Now that the relationship has been severed, Wen Yi will not have any contact with Gu Huaixu. It would be a mess to keep things connected.

"That's all for now, goodbye," Wen Yi said.

However, just as Wen Yi was about to hang up the phone, she suddenly felt someone push her from behind. Caught off guard, she lost control and fell into the lake below.

Wen struggled, "Help, help me..."

Wen Yi raised her hand for help, but to no avail. The lake was so deep that she was about to sink. Just then, a figure jumped from the shore into the lake, grabbed her from behind, and pulled her out of the water!

The rescue was timely, but Wen Yi still choked and coughed for a while before recovering. She instinctively looked up and said, "Thank you..."

She stammered, looking at the person who had saved her in astonishment!
