"In my sister's words, love is like a flower blooming, and flowers bloom and then wither. As for my feelings for my sister, I would say that I will not leave within ten years. After ten years, when my sister is old and her beauty has faded, I can still go back to be the noble second young master of the Gu family if I leave you. But my sister will no longer be able to go back to the Wen family and be the eldest daughter of the Wen family."
"My sister is getting old and her looks are fading. It will be hard for her to find someone to spend the rest of her time with. In fact, since she was a left-behind child since she was a child and has witnessed her parents favoring her younger sister, you probably don't want children. When the time comes, I'll just dust myself off and leave without taking anything with me, leaving you all alone."
"In a strange city, with no one to take care of you, time slowly passes, and in the end, you die alone."
"Compared to the others, my sister is at a huge disadvantage."
Gu Huaixu had finished speaking and was quietly looking at Wen Yi.
Wen Yi was stunned by what she said, especially the use of the phrase "old and faded beauty"...
She didn't know how to describe it.
"Is your sister afraid of not being able to return to the Wen family and dying alone?" Gu Huaixu asked rhetorically.
Wen shook her head. "I can't go back to the Wen family. Even if I'm alone in the future, I will take good care of myself. When a person gets old, they are alone, and when they leave this world, they are alone too."
"Aren't you afraid that no one will attend your funeral or sweep your grave during Qingming Festival?"
"How could you have such thoughts?" Wen Yi found it amusing. "Even if you have children in the future, are you sure you won't give birth to a rebellious child who will die out there and no one will care?"
Gu Huaixu shrugged. "If that's the case, why is my sister still hesitant and not coming with me?"
This question completely stumped Wen Yi.
"You're not afraid of any consequences, but why push me away when it doesn't affect me at all?"
Wen Yi suddenly looked at Gu Huaixu, her eyes slightly red.
Gu Huaixu knelt on one knee on the bed, cupping Wen Yi's face and showering her with gentle kisses. "We don't know what the future holds, but if you push me away right now, you'll be unhappy, and I'll be in pain, won't I?"
Wen Yi was already in tears.
From their accidental relationship at the beginning to now, neither of them has ever said "I love you" to Wen Yi, but Gu Huaixu has always been there for her steadfastly.
Even though she cruelly pushed him away, he still stayed by her side.
He firmly chose her and favored her.
Wen thought about it and decided not to worry about the consequences. At this moment, she really wanted Ah Xu to stay by her side.
Wen Yi suddenly laughed and reached out to hug Gu Huaixu back.
At that moment, she truly felt a great sense of relief.
"Sister, Wen Yi?" Gu Huaixu's voice fell softly and gently in Wen Yi's ear.
"I don't like washing dishes," Wen Yi said. "And I'm not good at cooking either."
"I wash the dishes and I cook."
"I don't like doing cleaning either."
"I'll do it."
"I don't like doing laundry either."
"I'll help you throw away the washing machine."
"I don't like washing my hair either."
"I'll wash you every day, and I'll even help you with your bath."
Wen paused, pulled Gu Huaixu, who was leaning on her shoulder, and cupped his face, asking seriously, "Have you really thought this through?"
Gu Huaixu was too lazy to say anything more and simply kissed Wen Yi until she shut up.
He's naturally arrogant and the kind of person who's too lazy to talk much. He usually doesn't say a word unless he has to, but today he said so much for her.
She kept asking.
Women, life is so troublesome and awkward.
Wen Yi calmed down after being kissed. Gu Huaixu pulled the blanket over her, held her in his arms, and gently patted her through the blanket to coax her to sleep.
Before coming to this city, Wen Yifei hadn't slept much at the Wen family home. The journey involved flying and searching for a place to live, leaving her exhausted. Now, nestled in Gu Huaixu's arms, she felt incredibly safe and slept soundly.
I slept soundly until dawn.
Wen Yi didn't want to wake up at first, but the aroma of food woke her up.
She groggily opened her eyes, threw off the covers, got out of bed, and walked out of the room, where she saw busy figures in the kitchen.
The man was wearing shorts and didn't bother with a shirt; he was just standing there making breakfast. He already had a good physique, so this was a pleasing sight to behold.
The person who cooked it was even more delicious than the food itself.
Wen Yi stood outside the kitchen door, leaning against the wall, tilting her head and quietly watching Gu Huaixu skillfully busy himself.
The everyday life of ordinary people is nothing more than this.
While Wen Yi was lost in thought, Gu Huaixu suddenly turned around and looked at her. He naturally took the shovel, walked up to Wen Yi, put his arm around her waist, and kissed her on the forehead.
Wen Yi could tell that this kiss was very precious.
"Go wash up, you'll be done soon," the man said softly.
Wen nodded. "Give me another kiss."
Gu Huaixu obediently lowered his head and kissed Wen Yi's lips. Only then did Wen Yi smile with satisfaction and turn around to wash up.
She quickly finished washing up and came out to find the table already laden with breakfast.
Congee, fried dough sticks, sandwiches.
It was just an ordinary breakfast, but Wen Yi's mouth watered at the sight of it. She, who usually has a small appetite, actually finished all the breakfast that Gu Huaixu had made.
“I want to eat those triangular cakes tomorrow, the fried kind,” Wen blurted out.
"Okay, I'll go downstairs and buy it for you." Gu Huaixu readily agreed to his request.
Wen Yi ate happily. After finishing her meal, she put down her chopsticks and slumped onto the sofa, turning on the air conditioner and the TV.
Wen Yi didn't change her clothes; she was still wearing Gu Huaixu's shirt. The shirt reached her thighs, and when Wen Yi leaned back on the sofa, her legs were white and straight, casually draped over it.
She was watching TV, while Gu Huaixu was tidying up the kitchen and preparing ingredients for lunch. He would occasionally come out to feed Wen Yi some snacks and then ask her about lunch.
Wen Yi was like a piece of trash, lying there watching TV all morning, then being woken up for lunch, and then falling asleep on the sofa again.
When she woke up again, she was covered with a blanket, and Gu Huaixu was cutting a watermelon.
Instead of cutting the watermelon into small pieces, he halved the whole watermelon and had Wen Yi scoop it out with a spoon, topped with snacks such as sausages, spicy strips, and small cakes.
Wen Yi felt sluggish sitting on the sofa, so she simply sat on the carpet, with the TV screen showing the show she had started watching that morning.
Gu Huaixu sat on the sofa with his feet on the floor. Wen Yi would lean against his legs from time to time. Gu Huaixu held a medical book in his hand. When he got tired of reading, he looked down at Wen Yi, who was seriously eating watermelon. He smiled and Wen Yi scooped out the watermelon flesh from the center and fed it to Gu Huaixu.
It's very sweet.
It was over 40 degrees Celsius outside, but inside the air-conditioned room, she was holding a watermelon, watching the most popular drama on TV. When she got bored, she would look up at him, and he would lean out of his book to meet her eyes, giving her a slight smile.
Wen's whole heart was soft.
She turned to look at the blazing sun outside the window and suddenly felt a sense of disorientation, as if she had just woken up from a dream.
