"Young Master Gu has already arrived, and Wen Ge should be taken to the hospital now," Wen Yi said calmly.
Gu Huaixu leaned back in his chair, looking at Wen Yi with a deep expression.
Wen turned around and met his gaze. "Hmm?"
"I thought my sister would feel guilty and upset because Wen Ge jumped off the building, so I immediately rushed up to save her."
"The people she needs have arrived; whether I am here or not is irrelevant."
Gu Huaixu just stared at Wen Yi quietly for a few seconds, then suddenly chuckled.
"My sister has a clear mind, but she is too reserved and quiet."
He spoke very softly, and it was unclear whether Wen Yi heard him. In any case, Wen Yi did not respond and kept staring ahead.
Gu Huaixu changed his posture and rested his head on Wen Yi's shoulder.
Wen looked down at it.
For some reason, as she leaned against him, Wen Yi's previously empty heart suddenly felt a little weight.
“I’m the older sister,” she suddenly said.
"I know."
“I’ve never been good at crying or expressing my thoughts since I was little. I think my parents have worked very hard. Back in my hometown, I was always very well-behaved. Even if someone bullied me, I would just go home as if nothing had happened.”
“If I resist, I’ll have to call my parents. My grandparents are old and my parents are busy with work, which will be a lot of trouble. So, just pretending nothing happened is the easiest way.”
"Later, after I arrived in Haicheng, I found that my parents were really busy. My younger brother was immature and my younger sister was frail and sickly since childhood. So, as the older sister, I had to be sensible and help my parents share their burdens. I had to take good care of my younger brother and sister. If my sister was wronged, she would cry. If I cried along with her and tried to make excuses, the matter would never end, and my parents would get very annoyed."
At this point, Wen Ge sighed wearily.
Gu Huaixu leaned on her shoulder and listened quietly, a hint of coldness flashing in his deep eyes.
But when Gu Huaixu stood up and faced Wen Yishi, that coldness vanished completely.
"Sister, would you like to hear my story?"
"Um?"
"As you can see, Young Master Gu is a prodigy praised by everyone, the best heir of the Gu family. And me?" Gu Huaixu gave a self-deprecating laugh and leaned on Wen Yi's shoulder again.
"As for me, I'm nothing more than a good-for-nothing playboy. In my parents' eyes, if something happens, if I say too much, it's considered an excuse, but if my brother says it's the truth."
"Because I'm not recognized, everything is terrible."
Because I'm not recognized, everything is terrible.
These words pierced Wen Yi's heart.
She originally thought that Gu Huaixu, the second young master of the Gu family, was aloof and detached from worldly affairs.
Yet, through these few words, Wen Yi empathized with Gu Huaixu.
She reached out and touched Gu Huaixu's face, her heart aching with tenderness.
A light rain began to fall, but the two remained unmoved, sitting quietly and watching the scene before them.
In Wen Yi's heart, this moment was quieter and more comforting than ever before.
However, this comfort did not last long before it was abruptly interrupted by the ringing of the bell, causing Wen Yi to stiffen almost reflexively.
She had a premonition that the call was from her parents, who would be demanding an explanation for Wen Ge's suicide attempt.
Wen Yi picked up her phone to hang up, only to find that it wasn't her parents' number, but a number from an unknown number.
“Gu Zeyu.” Gu Huaixu sat up.
Wen Yi looked at Gu Huaixu with a puzzled expression, while her finger accidentally slid to the answer button.
Gu Zeyu's gentle voice rang out, "Wen Yi, where are you now?"
Wen Yi looked away. "I'm outside."
"I understand. Don't move, I'll be right there."
Gu Zeyu hung up the phone after he finished speaking.
Wen Yi was completely confused, looking at Gu Huaixu to try to understand the meaning behind Gu Zeyu's words.
“You were located as soon as you answered the phone. You're near the hospital, and he'll be here soon.”
Just as Gu Huaixu finished explaining, a black Rolls-Royce pulled up across the street.
The car door opened, and Gu Zeyu got out with a worried expression and strode towards Wen Yi.
Wen stood up.
Gu Huaixu leaned back lazily, his hands bent and supporting himself on the back of the chair. He looked up at Gu Zeyu rushing over, his eyes lazy yet with a hint of mockery.
He exudes a strong air of spoiled brat.
Gu Zeyu glanced cautiously at Gu Huaixu, then shifted his gaze to Wen Yi, carefully examining her condition.
Wen Yi became somewhat wary and stepped back.
"Wen Yi, I'm so sorry, I misunderstood you just now," Gu Zeyu apologized.
"It's okay, I didn't take it to heart."
"At the time, I only saw that Wen Ge was injured, and she was crying so badly, so... I'm very sorry."
Wen Yi was not quite able to calmly deal with Gu Zeyu's excessive enthusiasm.
She hesitated for a moment, then changed the subject, "How is Wen Ge now?"
"He has been taken to the hospital, but due to his emotional state and weak constitution, he needs to rest for a few days."
"It's good that you're alright."
“Your parents seem to have misunderstood that you hurt Wen Ge. I came to find you to accompany you back and give you an explanation.”
After Gu Zeyu finished speaking, Wen Yi showed a surprised expression.
She wasn't surprised that her parents misunderstood her for hurting Wen Ge, but rather that Gu Zeyu said he would accompany her back to explain.
"You're rather quiet, and I think you're a bit socially awkward?" Gu Zeyu seemed to understand Wen Yi, chuckling as he reached out to touch Wen Yi's head, but Wen Yi reflexively took a step back.
Gu Zeyu was a little embarrassed to find his hands empty.
Wen Yi looked at Gu Huaixu, who was sitting in a chair, and said, "Um... I can have my younger brother accompany me back."
Gu Huaixu, who was holding an unlit cigarette in his mouth, looked up slightly at Wen Yi when he heard his name called, "It's not that it's not possible."
"You might have misunderstood. Ah Xu has a somewhat arrogant personality, and he might not be able to explain things well when he goes back. Instead, it could easily lead to conflict."
“He’s very well-behaved,” Wen Yi blurted out.
She frowned as she looked at Gu Zeyu, clearly displeased with his words about Gu Huaixu.
Wen Yi said very seriously, "A Xu is very well-behaved and sensible. Young Master Gu, please don't say such things about him in front of outsiders next time. It's not good."
Gu Zeyu looked somewhat surprised.
Gu Huaixu's eyes then became somewhat meaningful.
After saying these words, Wen Yi looked somewhat embarrassed in the face of Gu Zeyu and Gu Huaixu's expressions.
"Actually, it's not necessary. I can go back by myself. Thank you for your help. I'll be going now."
After finishing speaking quickly, Wen Yi turned and walked towards the other side of the road.
Just then, a taxi appeared, and Wen Yi quickly got in and left.
Gu Huaixu sat in his chair, watching Wen Yi's fleeing figure, and sneered.
He bent down and lit a cigarette.
"Hey, did you hear that? She said I was good, hmm?" Gu Huaixu said with a smile.
Her peach blossom eyes sparkled, and because of her radiant smile, dimples appeared and disappeared at the corners of her mouth. "This is the first time someone has said I'm well-behaved."
It's quite interesting.
Gu Zeyu was also surprised, but then, remembering the conversation they had just had, he quickly offered an explanation.
"The reason I objected to her asking you to accompany her back to the Wen family was because I was afraid that the people from the Wen family would offend you."
"I didn't want to be caught, but my sister said I was being good."
Gu Huaixu ignored Gu Zeyu's topic, making jokes as his smile deepened.
