After changing seats, Tiezhu and Cuihua were closer together. Unfortunately, there were still two pieces of iron between them, so Tiezhu thought for a moment and decided to move into Wuyue's drawer to live there permanently. The two paper figures lay side by side, whispering and sharing their little journals.
After Wu Yue and Yan Chiyu became deskmates, they found it easier to talk about certain things.
Since Yan Chiyu knew even the spirits and monsters of the capital, Wu Yue guessed that he might also know Mu Junyan, so she asked him about it.
Unexpectedly, she did not get the answer she wanted.
During the second period, Mu Junyan appeared again. Wu Yue's body tensed almost instinctively.
"Teacher Tao has some family matters to attend to and has rescheduled my class. I will still be teaching this class." Mu Junyan's gaze swept around the classroom and finally landed on Wu Yue and the other girl.
His gaze lingered for a while, but he said nothing and asked nothing.
Mu Junyan flipped through the book, then closed it again. He pulled out the practice questions he had assigned to the students in the previous class from between the two books. "I've finished grading the papers. Distribute them to you and grade them yourselves first. We'll go over the review in ten minutes."
Mu Junyan asked class monitor Zhou Yunwei to distribute the test papers. Her indifferent gaze fell squarely on Wu Yue and Yan Chiyu, and her tone was calm and unwavering: "The two exchange students, please come out for a moment. The teacher has some questions to ask you."
"Um……"
Wu Yue took a deep breath and walked out with a death wish. Yan Chiyu followed behind her and said softly, "Don't be afraid. Even if Mu Junyan is a ghost, he looks quite gentle."
Wu Yue chuckled twice.
Well, it would have been better if he hadn't offered any comfort at all. His words only made her more panicked.
The thought that Mu Junyan was a ghost made her feel uneasy all over.
Mu Junyan called the two of them to a corner of the corridor. There was a square window in the corner, and with the blue sky behind them and the white clouds against the blue sky, it had an indescribable feeling of a campus magazine photoshoot with a youthful filter.
Wu Yueluo Yanchi took half a step, subtly maintaining her distance from Mu Junyan.
Mu Junyan looked at them with approval in her eyes, "You two have really impressed the teacher. You got full marks on your first test, and your handwriting is beautiful. You are very excellent!"
As he spoke, he exclaimed, "Songcheng is a wonderful place; it produces many talented people."
"Thank you, teacher. We will try our best." Yan Chiyu said these polite words with ease.
But it seemed that Mu Junyan hadn't summoned them just to offer words of praise. His gaze lingered on Wu Yue, his smile carrying a deeper meaning. Wrapped in an eerie cloak, coupled with those eyes that always seemed cold and indifferent, Wu Yue felt a chill run down her spine.
Then, Mu Junyan turned her gaze to Yan Chiyu, "I have a part-time job available, I wonder if you'd be interested."
Wu Yue's first reaction was to shake her head.
What teacher would recommend part-time jobs to high school students, especially during class time? That's incredibly unreliable!
Yan Chiyu did not express his opinion, but looked at Mu Junyan calmly. After a few breaths, he asked slowly, "I wonder what Teacher Mu means by this?"
"Why don't you listen to what this job entails first?"
"Teacher, please speak."
Mu Junyan narrowed her eyes, smiled faintly without any emotion, and said, "Intern ghost messenger."
Having vaguely guessed Mu Junyan's identity, Wu Yue felt as if she was about to be taken away by this beautiful world upon hearing these words.
The boy remained remarkably calm, raising a slight brow. "Teacher Mu, you really love to joke. Or do you have a side shop off-campus, and it's for a cosplay-themed event?"
