"Yueyue, Yan."
She sensed her companions calling from behind. But Wu Yue had no energy to respond to them. Even though she pretended to be calm, she was still startled by Yan Chiyu's grief-stricken expression.
What did he experience in his dream?
Wu Yue bit her lip until it bled and roared.
"Yan Chiyu—"
A pale golden light seeped into the boy's brow.
Faintly, Yan Chiyu heard human voices. Instantly, his body went limp, and he knelt on the ground.
Wu Yue immediately supported Yan Chiyu's body to prevent him from experiencing a greater impact from kneeling. The two of them squatted down together on the gravel-strewn ground.
The boy's mind cleared, and his vision gradually focused.
He stared intently at Wu Yue, his pale fingers gripping the girl's hand, his tension palpable, his body stiff.
“Witch…” Yan Chiyu twitched the corners of his mouth, a smile appearing on his face.
"Don't speak."
Wu Yue took out a Qi-strengthening pill and a hemostatic pill and put them into Yan Chiyu's mouth. After watching him swallow them, she calmly analyzed, "We underestimated the White Fox's strength. She could cast a nightmare spell even through your bag. What were you dreaming about? Why did you attempt suicide?"
The crowd gradually gathered.
“I dreamt that I failed my college entrance exam and was forced to go home to inherit the family business… I was so heartbroken that I cried.” Song Wenzhi still felt lingering fear when she talked about it.
Zhou Yunwei gritted her teeth and said angrily, "I dreamt that my crush got married to a mountain spirit, and I actually got to share some of the wedding candy! I'm so angry..."
Qian Bolun touched his nose, a little embarrassed: "Mine seems to be a seductive dream. There was someone I liked standing naked in front of me. I was so scared that I just ran away as fast as I could."
Que Guanghuai said, "I dreamt that I kept eating and eating until my stomach burst. It was so scary."
After he finished speaking, he patted his stomach twice to make sure it was intact before he breathed a sigh of relief.
This nightmare seems to select things that the person afflicted with it fears, then amplify them, making them experience terror and despair, in order to break their spirit.
"What about you, Yueyue?" Zhou Yunwei asked with concern.
“A blank…” Even Wu Yue herself didn’t believe this. “I just wandered around in a completely white world, and then I came out.”
"Don't you have anything to be afraid of?"
Song Wenzhi was completely in sync with her 'experience', and even a little envious. He also wanted to see what a completely white world was like.
"Let's go back first and settle accounts with that white fox."
"Brother Yan, how about I carry you on my back?" Que Guanghuai suggested, looking at Yan Chiyu, whose wound had just stopped bleeding.
The boy's voice was low and husky, "No need. Thank you."
With Wu Yue's help, he got up from the ground. His face was pale and weak in the night, and his deep eyes, set in their sockets, shone with a cold light: "Go back."
Wu Yue helped Yan Chiyu up, thinking that he probably couldn't talk about his dream in public, so she whispered and asked him.
Yan Chiyu glanced at her, then pursed his lips and remained silent.
"What exactly happened?"
"..."
"If you're too embarrassed to say it, then forget it." Wu Yue looked away, her fingers gripping the fabric of his shirt trembling slightly.
She lied.
In her dream, she saw Yan Chiyu trying to kill her. She only dodged and didn't attack, but this wasn't a solution.
Later, when she finally made up her mind to kill Yan Chiyu, Yan Chiyu committed suicide in front of her.
She escaped the nightmare and reappeared outside the house.
