Wu Yue and Yan Chiyu took a morning off and the three of them went to You Guangluan's house together.
The wind outside slipped into the car through the gaps in the window, slightly chilly, carrying the coolness of the morning.
You Guangluan lay in Yan Chiyu's arms, fast asleep. His skin was as smooth and delicate as white jade, and occasionally his bangs would lift up, revealing large patches of dark blue.
Uncle Min occasionally glanced at the three people in the back seat through the rearview mirror, and for a moment he had the illusion that they were a family of three. Since he was driving, he didn't look for long, and quickly looked away, his smile becoming kind and gentle, the wrinkles on his face gathering into a chrysanthemum shape as he smiled.
Twenty minutes later, Unit 107, a private garden villa in the suburbs of Beijing.
The three of them got out of the car. You Guangluan rubbed his sleepy eyes with his little fists. He couldn't adjust to the strong light of the morning sun for a while and could only half-close his eyes.
He stood in front of the villa, his face stern, but his body instinctively shrank back.
Wu Yue noticed his unusual behavior, a hidden fear. She gently squeezed the little guy's hand, silently and tenderly comforting him.
Yan Chiyu stood outside the small iron gate, his gaze passing through the openwork pattern and landing on the detached villa.
He glanced around casually, but his words were undeniably confident: "The house faces northeast, which is considered an inauspicious direction, making it very yin. Furthermore, Guangguang's parents died during a particularly inauspicious time. Therefore, their souls cannot leave this place..."
Wu Yue turned her head to look at Yan Chiyu, frowning as she added, "Some colleagues have set up an array here."
The girl closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, a few golden rays of light flickered in her dark eyes, and everything around her seemed to be scanned by a scanner.
After a few breaths, she concluded: "It's the Soul-Locking Blood Fiend Array."
"In the file that Officer Chu sent me, he said that when the police arrived here, they found nothing—no body, no blood. It was because of this Soul-Locking Blood Fiend Array that the blood was absorbed into the array, and the body... became fertilizer for the array. The meaning of Soul-Locking is to trap the soul within it, preventing them from being reincarnated."
You Guangluan listened with a blank expression, but of course, none of this mattered to him; these were not what he cared about.
Yan Chiyu slowly walked to Wu Yue and the others' side, raised his slender fingers, and then wisps of transparent, faint white light, like ribbons, flew out from the villa.
The streams of light hovered beside the two of them, reflecting one memory after another, stories told by the little guys in a casual and expressionless manner.
"Xiaoguang, Mom can't take it anymore... It would have been better if I hadn't given birth to you, then I would be the only one suffering."
That night, You's mother quietly entered You Guangluan's room, stood by his bedside, and murmured, "I want to take you with me. Will you forgive your mother?"
*
"Mr. You, when would you like to bring your wife along for a casual meal?"
Seven-year-old You Guangluan sat in his child seat, listening to his father in the driver's seat scoff dismissively and say impatiently, "Why call her? She's always acting crazy, getting older and older, it's embarrassing to take her out!"
He made no attempt to hide his son's feelings; the look of disgust spread from his face down to his feet.
“I’m telling you, I haven’t touched her for two or three years. I have to go out to take care of my physical needs every time. I really don’t want to stay in this house.”
"Well, Mr. You, isn't it a bit inappropriate to say that about your wife? Xiao Guang is still here; what will the child think if he hears this?"
"What does a kid know? He's just like his mother, doesn't like to talk and isn't close to me. He's annoying to look at."
You Guangluan mechanically turned to look out the car window.
What happened?
Why do I feel so uncomfortable in my chest?
Am I sick?
