Before Wu Yue's questions could be answered, Bai Ze beside her vanished without a trace. A panic gripped her, but she knew she couldn't afford to lose her composure. She took out Cuihua, as if that would give her some sense of security.
"Tiezhu? You're here too."
Tie Zhu peeked out from behind Cui Hua, waved, made a few punching motions, and quickly stood in front of Cui Hua, indicating that he was there to protect Wu Yue.
Wu Yue immediately realized what was happening and lightly tapped Tie Zhu's brow with her fingertip: Go find your father Yan and tell him what happened here.
She was going to find her brother and, incidentally, see who this guy who had copied her consciousness was.
Tie Zhu was a clever little paper doll; he slipped away against the wall almost the instant Wu Yue withdrew her hand.
"Did you take my brother and the others away? Where are they?"
After Wu Yue asked the question, there was a long silence on the other end before a reply came out that was neither happy nor angry: "Which of those three men is your brother?"
"Wearing wool..." Wu Yue's voice suddenly stopped. Three men? Cheng Pingxi, Bai Ze, and... Yan Chiyu. Was Yan Chiyu arrested too?
The voice now seemed less calm: "You've captured all my companions?"
A soft laugh followed, and after a moment, the sound of clinking glasses could be heard.
"I sent out a few trinkets, and they've probably succeeded by now." The man spoke casually, as if recalling something from long ago, or perhaps simply remarking on the bright, sunny day.
“I promise to have a drink with you, and then lead the way.” Wu Yue suppressed her shock and subtle unease. “Perhaps you’ll take me away by taking them with you?”
"ah."
The other end sighed regretfully, "I suddenly don't want to see you anymore. Wu Yue, find me by your own ability."
After that sound, the spiritual energy that had been probing and imprisoning her consciousness withdrew and disappeared without a trace.
[Witch God: I've been tricked???]
[Help! Who is this person?]
[Let me make a bold guess: could it be the important figure from the underworld we mentioned before?]
Even the power of the stars can't suppress my curiosity.
Who is this new character?!
Just as Wu Yue was about to start cursing, that spiritual energy suddenly returned, leaving her with the words, "He's not qualified to be your brother, don't call him that again," before gracefully departing.
It's so rude of her to come and go as if it were her own home!
Such a thought was fleeting; Wu Yue quickly calmed down and hurriedly asked Cuihua to find the direction Tie Zhu had left in.
If Yan Chiyu is really caught, she has to bring Tiezhu back. Who knows where that little paper figure might have been thrown away by that mysterious force and never be found again?
Perhaps sensing something, Cuihua leaped incredibly fast, forcing Wuyue to run after her. The corridor grew darker and darker as they ran, the high-hanging red lanterns seemingly hidden in the thick night. The deeper they went, the more the darkness, carrying a chill, assailed her.
A hand gripped her shoulder, and the familiar scent of cedar wafted into her nostrils.
“Yan Chiyu?” Wu Yue reached out to touch him, but instead touched a lock of long hair on the man’s chest.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, I've come to pick you up." In the darkness, the young man's figure appeared somewhat slender, and his usually cold facial features softened. The darkness, like ink from the tip of a wolf-hair brush, gently outlined the two of them.
The young man's thick eyelashes drooped slightly, obscuring his dark blue, bright eyes: "Don't worry, Tie Zhu told me everything."
Wu Yue stepped forward, gently embraced him, and asked in a firm yet tender voice, "Are you injured?" She smelled a trace of blood.
Yan Chiyu didn't want to lie to her that it was someone else's blood, so he said, "I was indeed a little injured, but it's nothing serious." After dealing with that inhuman and ghostly thing, he was worried about Wu Yue and the others, so he rushed over without having time to clean up the bloodstains on his body.
Wu Yue looked up, her eyes revealing worry.
