Chapter 720 What did you bring?
The Zhao Zhao that Li Qinyan mentioned is Aunt Fang's daughter, Zhao Fangzhao, whose nickname is Zhao Zhao.
"Yes, yes." When her daughter was mentioned, Aunt Fang's smile faded considerably. "She's been getting increasingly sleepy these past few days. She's almost fallen several times when she went out because she was so drowsy. Your Uncle Zhao and I were really worried about her going out alone, so we simply asked her to take a few days off so she could rest at home."
Li Qinyan looked surprised: "Has it come to this? This is not a solution. Zhao Zhao is at the age when she should be studying. We can't just let her stay at home sleeping all the time."
Aunt Fang sighed, "That's what I said too, but there's nothing we can do. She gets sleepy as soon as she goes to school, and even if she goes, she can't keep up with the others."
That makes sense, but how could parents not worry if a young girl of this age is sleeping all day at home and getting weaker and weaker?
"Where is she now? Let's call her out and take a look."
"She's sleeping in the inner room. She just had lunch and got sleepy again. She's been sleeping for about half an hour. I'll go wake her up now."
As Aunt Fang spoke, she turned and walked toward the child's room, while Uncle Zhao stayed behind to entertain the guests.
As the group was making tea, they heard Aunt Fang's startled cry from the inner room: "Zhao Zhao, Zhao Zhao, wake up! Zhao Zhao, Zhao Zhao, don't scare your mother!"
Upon hearing the noise, the people in the living room rushed over. Uncle Zhao was the first to run to the bedside to check on his daughter's condition.
"Zhao Zhao? Zhao Zhao? What's going on?"
Aunt Fang held her daughter's hand tightly, her eyes red-rimmed: "I called her when I came in, but she didn't wake up no matter how many times I called. I reached out and shook her, but she still didn't wake up. Her hand was also very cold to the touch. You can feel it..."
Upon hearing this, Uncle Zhao hurriedly grabbed his daughter's hand, nearly shivering from the cold.
It was cold, really cold, like ice, not at all the body temperature a human should have.
Uncle Zhao was terrified by his own thoughts and reached out with trembling hands to check the child's breathing.
Fortunately, the child was still breathing. But upon closer inspection, it became clear that the child's breathing was intermittent, as if it might suddenly stop at any moment.
The couple were terrified: "Call an ambulance! Call an ambulance right now!"
The couple frantically searched for their phones, preparing to call an ambulance.
Li Qinyan didn't expect it to be so serious all of a sudden, and almost instinctively looked at Ye Wanxi.
Ye Wanxi glanced at the face of the person on the bed, her brows furrowed slightly. She took a few steps forward, quickly drew a talisman with her finger, and struck it onto the girl's forehead.
The talisman was cast in one smooth motion, gleaming with golden light, and instantly disappeared into Zhao Fangzhao's brow.
The couple, who had been frantically pacing around, stared in surprise at what they saw. It took them a while to react. Seeing that their child's pale face had regained some color, they hurriedly reached out to touch her hand.
The temperature, which had been icy cold, rose slightly, but it was still very cool.
"Ye..." Aunt Fang knew Ye Wanxi was a celebrity, and originally wanted to call her Miss Ye, but she quickly changed her address, "Master Ye, what's wrong with our Zhaozhao? Please save her..."
"Please don't worry. I've just used a talisman to calm her soul and temporarily protect her. Now, tell me carefully, when did she start acting like this? Did she experience any unusual changes before that?"
"This..." The couple exchanged a glance and thought carefully. "Zhao Zhao started acting strange about a month ago. Her father and I are usually busy with work, so we weren't very strict with her. The first time we noticed something was wrong with her was when I got up in the middle of the night and found that the light in her room was still on. I went over to take a look and found her talking to herself in a daze, laughing as she spoke."
“I didn’t think much of it at the time. I just assumed she was watching some TV series late at night, so I called her and told her to go to bed early. She obediently turned off the light and went to sleep, so I didn’t pay much attention. But I gradually noticed that she always locked herself in her room during the day, and occasionally when I passed by her room, I could vaguely hear her talking.”
“I started to feel something was wrong, but before I could even ask her properly, she started to oversleep. This child is in high school this year, she doesn't board, she's a day student. She always comes back at noon to take a nap before going to school. She's usually very careful about this time and won't be late. But that day she overslept and missed two classes. Her homeroom teacher noticed she wasn't at school and called me. When I got home, I found her still sleeping.”
Uncle Zhao patted his wife's shoulder reassuringly and continued, "At first, we just thought it was because the child was too tired from studying. After all, adults are prone to oversleeping and being late when they're tired, let alone children. It's normal. But then we found that she was dozing off more and more frequently, even to the point of being lethargic. Moreover, every time we asked her something after she woke up, she was very confused. What's even more outrageous is that she doesn't remember some things that happened recently."
After listening to the couple's explanation, Ye Wanxi walked to the bedside and reached out to touch Zhao Fangzhao's face and forehead: "Did she bring anything home before she started acting strangely?"
"What did you bring with you?" Uncle Zhao turned to his wife. "Did you?"
"What could she possibly bring home?" Aunt Fang asked, then gasped as if she had just thought of something.
Seeing this, Li Qinyan quickly asked, "What did Aunt Fang remember?"
"She did bring back something rather strange before that."
"What is that?"
"It seems to be a doll called something like B... something. It's one of those really realistic dolls, with big eyes and a small size. Oh, and the doll's joints can move."
"The joints can move?" Li Qinyan suddenly realized, "Is it a BJD doll?"
"Yes, yes, that's it. The doll is tiny, with brown hair and big eyes. Zhao Zhao even dressed it in a pink dress. It looks cute, but also kind of creepy."
Aunt Fang doesn't actually like these overly realistic dolls, but she's not a particularly stubborn old-fashioned person who would force young people to conform to her aesthetic just because she doesn't like them.
Therefore, she usually doesn't interfere with her daughter's hobbies as long as they don't affect her schoolwork.
The reason I remember this is simply because my daughter happened to see it when she brought the doll back home.
When her daughter carried it in, the doll's eyes were directly facing her.
Aunt Fang stared at it for a while, then inexplicably felt a chill down her spine and had difficulty breathing, which made the memory all the more memorable.
Where is that doll now?
"It should be on Zhao Zhao's bedside table or in her closet."
As Aunt Fang spoke, she reached for Zhao Fangzhao's bedside table. Ye Wanxi stared at the table, narrowed her eyes as if sensing something, reached out and grabbed Aunt Fang's hand, pulling her back a little.
"Let me do it."
