Planning Base
"This base is an independent agricultural experimental area built according to the highest standards." Qiao Jianmin introduced it proactively on the way.
"It covers approximately fifty acres. The soil and water sources have been specially treated and tested to ensure purity and no pollution. The security system is also top-notch. No one except those authorized by you can enter."
After driving for about an hour, we arrived at an area surrounded by a high wall. There was also strict security at the entrance.
Entering the gate, the interior suddenly opened up. The flat land was divided into several areas, with modern glass greenhouses, warehouses, and a two-story building for rest areas built nearby. The entire base looked very professional.
"The ownership, use rights, and management rights of this land, including its ancillary facilities, are now officially registered in your name."
Qiao Jianmin showed Zhong Ling around and said, "You can plan and use it completely according to your own ideas. If you need any equipment, seeds, or other supplies, you can list them to me and we will provide them as soon as possible."
Zhong Ling walked around the base, sensing the concentration of spiritual energy there—much stronger than the old house in Yunxi Village, clearly a place that had been specially selected or processed. She nodded, "Okay."
Seeing that she had no objections, Qiao Jianmin breathed a sigh of relief. "Then you can get familiar with it first? Or I can show you the facilities inside the small building?"
"No need, I can take care of it myself." Zhong Ling said.
Qiao Jianmin tactfully didn't bother her any further and just said that he was waiting for her in the car outside and that she could call him anytime if she needed anything.
Zhong Ling stayed alone in the base for a while, planning the next planting arrangements.
The conditions here are indeed much better than those in Yunxi Village, and the area is large enough to carry out larger-scale cultivation and some small experiments.
After confirmation, she left the base and got into Qiao Jianmin's car to return to her residence.
The car slowed down as it passed through the security checkpoint at the compound's gate. Just then, a group of young people approached, chatting and laughing. They appeared to have just returned from outside.
Their eyes inadvertently swept over the black Hongqi sedan being inspected and the face of the unfamiliar young woman in the back seat.
"Huh? Who's in that car? A stranger." A boy with flaxen hair whispered curiously.
"I've never seen him before. He looks quite young. Director Qiao is driving the car himself. Who is he?" A girl in a white dress next to him cast a scrutinizing glance.
"Can anyone who can live here be an ordinary person?" Another tall boy said with a hint of amusement.
Their discussion was low, but Zhong Ling, a cultivator, still heard it. She ignored it and waited for the inspection.
The car passed inspection and slowly drove into the courtyard. The group of young people followed the car until it disappeared from sight.
"Let's check it out?" suggested the flaxen-haired boy.
"Come on, have you forgotten the rules here? Don't cause trouble for yourself." The tall boy waved his hand, but the curiosity in his eyes did not diminish.
This group of young people who have lived in the compound since childhood are obviously very interested in Zhong Ling, a stranger.
After the Red Flag sedan drove into the courtyard, the young people's chatter was completely cut off. Zhong Ling didn't take this brief interlude to heart.
After returning to the small building and washing up briefly, Zhong Ling went to the bedroom on the second floor, set up a defensive formation, entered the space, and began her daily practice.
She has reached the peak of Qi training. After one cycle of Qi circulation, the Qi cyclone in her Dantian has only become slightly more active, and there is still some distance to go before a breakthrough.
She was not impatient, as cultivation was a slow and steady process.
The next morning, Zhong Ling contacted Xiao Zhao and went to the planting base.
Xiao Zhao didn't say much, just focused on driving. After arriving at the base, he simply asked, "Ms. Zhong, do you need me to stay and help you?"
"No need, you can go back. Come pick me up at five in the afternoon." Zhong Ling waved her hand and walked in.
Xiao Zhao nodded and drove away.
Zhong Ling was the only one left in the vast base. High walls blocked out outside observation, with only distant surveillance cameras silently operating. However, according to the agreement, Zhong Ling also had ultimate access to these surveillance cameras.
Zhong Ling walked to the main control valve of the base's water source, which was connected to a semi-buried water storage and purification system responsible for the irrigation water of the entire experimental area.
She took out a jade bottle from the mustard seed space, unplugged it, and slowly poured the spiritual spring water in the bottle into the entrance of the main water tank.
The light blue liquid merged into the clear water, and there was almost no visible change. Only Zhong Ling could sense that a pure and powerful vitality was rapidly spreading with the water flow, and was about to flow through the pipeline system to the entire land.
After just one night, the scene in the greenhouse changed dramatically.
Those seedlings that had just broken through the soil a few days ago have now grown to nearly half a foot high, with thick and straight stems, far beyond the reach of ordinary seedlings.
The leaves are thick and stretched, the color is a rich emerald green that seems to be dripping with water, and the surface has a faint sheen.
Its growth rate and vitality are significantly better than those of the vegetables originally planted in Yunxi Village.
"Sure enough, the effects vary greatly depending on the environment and substrate." Zhong Ling looked at the vibrant scene in front of her and nodded with satisfaction.
The base provided by Shangjing is much better than the old house in Yunxi Village in terms of soil foundation and spiritual energy concentration.
In addition, she used the spiritual spring water generously, so the growth effect of the plants was naturally more significant.
Over the next few days, Zhong Ling's life became more regular. In the mornings, she tended to the plants at the base, observed their growth, and conducted some simple records and experiments.
In the afternoon, I return to my residence and, apart from necessary rest, spend most of my time practicing.
Since seeing Zhong Ling that day, the curiosity of the young people in the compound has grown like weeds.
Most of them come from extraordinary backgrounds, and there are rarely people or things that make them feel unfamiliar and out of control.
The appearance of Zhong Ling, the vehicle she was riding in and Qiao Jianmin's attitude all made them realize that this young woman was by no means simple.
"Have you found out anything?" The flaxen-haired boy named Chen Yu asked his companions in a hidden pavilion in the compound.
"There's no background information available, and her file is top secret." The tall boy, named Lin Ze, frowned and shook his head. "To be protected like this, one must either be a top scientist or a special individual involved in key national secrets. But she's so young..."
"Could he be the person in charge of some secret project?" guessed the girl named Zhu Qing.
"I don't know." A hint of inquiry flashed in Lin Ze's eyes. "But I heard that Director Qiao has been very busy recently and often goes to the suburbs."
"Suburbs?" Chen Yu raised an eyebrow. "Is it related to her?"
"It's very likely." Lin Ze nodded. "It must be extraordinary that Director Qiao can personally handle the connection."
"Hey, this is interesting." Chen Yu smiled, his eyes gleaming with eagerness. "We grew up in a compound, so what haven't we seen? The more mysterious it is, the more we want to see what's hidden inside. Let's find a chance and follow that woman's car to take a look."
