Chapter 39 Can you still make peace?

Chapter 39 Can you still make peace?

midnight.

The silvery moonlight outside the window poured in through the narrow window of the hotel bathroom, casting a faint reflection on the porcelain white floor and leaving a clear dividing line between black and white.

In the dark corner, a woman curled up in the corner, hugging her trembling body tightly.

"Does your ex-husband also love your innocent appearance? How many men have you deceived with this trick?"

"An Ning, are you shameless?"

"Disgusting, greasy, and nauseating."

The man's cold words floated past her ears word by word.

Disdainful eyes, intimate gestures, falling kisses...

Frame by frame, it engraved itself on her heart.

An Ning hugged her knees tightly, her fingertips dug into her arms, and her pale little face was buried in her arms as she sobbed.

"An Ning, I beg you, leave Lu Xiyan."

"I kneel down for you!"

"An Ning, if you want to save your brother's life, disappear from his side!"

"Miss An, you can only choose one between your brother and Xiyan. Do you want the ridiculous love you talk about, or the blood-thicker-than-water kinship? Choose for yourself."

"You saw it, he almost lost his life because of you! By being with him, you're ruining him!"

A pain like digging out the heart and twisting the lungs came from the chest, and An Ning's painful and suppressed cry overflowed from her lips.

She cried uncontrollably, but tried hard not to make a sound.

She clutched her aching chest and breathed heavily.

She stretched out her hand, trying to catch the faint moonlight, but she could catch nothing.

The moonlight shone on her scarred left wrist, and the long, winding scars were shocking.

When great sorrow enveloped her and broke her remaining sanity, she subconsciously wanted to find something to cut the weak blood vessels.

Thoughts of self-harm were screaming wildly in her mind, and suddenly a small towel on the bathroom shelf brought back a trace of her rationality.

It is square, small, lake blue, and embroidered with a cool cartoon motorcycle.

Her heart was broken and she cried softly.

You can't die, An Ning.

Xianxian still needs you.

You have to live.

Just like four years ago, curled up there, living slowly, slowly.

She got up from the ground, sweating profusely, and with trembling hands, she took out two tablets of Sertraline from the drawer and swallowed them with her head tilted back.

It will be alright, everything will be alright.

......

It was a rare cool weekend in Jinghai.

The summer breeze blows, there is no sun, and the air is filled with the fragrance of plants.

In a dessert shop outside Jinghai Medical University, Xiao Anxian, wearing a white T-shirt with cartoon patterns and matching shorts, was sitting on a sofa by the window, sipping the juice in his glass with relish.

An Ning looked at her slightly puffy cheeks and smiled, "Xianxian, your uncle will be here soon. You must greet him politely when you see him."

Xiao Anxian took a big sip of juice and nodded obediently, "Okay!"

An Ning looked out the window and saw a slender figure in a white shirt and black pants running towards them from the school gate opposite.

She stood up suddenly and watched the boy getting closer and closer.

An Yucan ran into the store quickly and recognized An Ning at a glance.

He stood at the door and stared at her, tears streaming down his face.

An Ning's gaze fell on the boy's slender legs. The boy who was in a wheelchair back then is now standing up and can run and jump.

He's grown taller, and his figure is a little stronger, but he's still a little thin.

An Ning looked at his handsome face and her vision blurred instantly.

The next moment, the boy ran to her and hugged her tightly.

"Sister..." He asked in a trembling voice, "Where have you been? Why didn't you tell me where you have been these past few years?"

It has been four years since An Ning left Jinghai without any warning, without even saying goodbye.

An Yucan thought she would never come back.

He just heard someone at school tell him that his sister was waiting for him outside the school, and he almost thought he had misheard.

Unexpectedly, his sister really came back!

"I just went out to relax and unwind for a few years." An Ning gently touched the back of his head. "I know your surgery went well, and you're healthy and got into a good university."

"Sister, the year you left, I had a heart transplant." An Yucan let go of her, wiped away his tears, and asked, "Where did you get the resources and money?"

An Yucan is not stupid. He has been ill for so many years, but the An family has not been able to raise enough money for surgery.

Even if the surgery fee is sufficient, heart transplant surgery is not something that can be done just by having money.

Finding a suitable heart would cost a huge amount of financial and material resources, which is far beyond the reach of a family like theirs.

"Did Brother Xiyan help you?" An Yucan asked anxiously, "Sister, tell me, is your breakup with Brother Xiyan related to your leaving Jinghai?"

He had so many questions that An Ning smiled and touched his head. "We just met, and you haven't even looked at your nephew yet, and you're asking so many questions in one breath?"

An Yucan was stunned and looked down, only then he realized that there was a fair and tender child sitting next to her.

"Uncle?" Little Anxian looked up. "Mom, is this my uncle?"

"This is my uncle." An Ning said with a smile, "Yucan, this is my son, An Xian."

The boy was shocked, "You're married?"

"Divorced." An Ning said lightly.

An Yucan frowned and stared at little An Xian, subconsciously clenching his fists. "Is his father not good to you? Why did you divorce?"

"That's not important." An Ning said, "As long as my son is mine, that's enough."

She didn't want to talk too much about herself, so she changed the subject and asked him, "Why did you choose to study medicine in college?"

An Yucan pushed the dessert in front of him to An Xian, his clear eyes sparkling, "Maybe it's because I was sick before, so I want to save people. And if I become a doctor, it will be convenient for our family members to see a doctor when they are sick in the future."

Looking at his longing, An Ning's eyes showed relief.

She kept the fact that Li Chunfang was ill a secret from everyone, and An Yucan only went home for vacation once a month, so he didn't know that Li Chunfang had been hospitalized for surgery.

An Ning didn't plan to tell him now, so as not to make him worry and affect his studies.

"Sister, when did you come back?"

"A few days ago." An Ning made an excuse, "I just got back and had some unfinished business, so I came to see you as soon as I had some free time."

An Yucan thought for a moment, then looked up at An Ning, "Sister, have you met Brother Xiyan since you came back?"

When An Ning mentioned Lu Xiyan, her heart ached.

She nodded slightly, "I see."

"Then can you still reconcile?" the young man asked hurriedly, "Sister, why did you break up in the first place? I can see that Brother Xiyan really likes you."
