Chapter 21 The clingy puppy wants to kiss you
The clinginess of a stubborn horse knows no geographical boundaries.
As the morning passed, Cheng Guo's phone was flooded with news about Chen Zhui again.
Judging from the time, he must have just landed. I don't know if he was bored or missing her, but he sent a string of messages like a puppy scratching at a door.
[Yay! Dr. Cheng]
[Yay: Are you there?]
[Yay! Dr. Cheng]
[Yay! Dr. Cheng]
[Yay! Dr. Cheng]
[Yay! Pay attention to me!]
Then, a Samoyed petting me emoji came right back.
He probably won't see the note I made for him.
Cheng Guo thought to himself.
She no longer needed to worry about contacting Shen Zhui in front of Shu Shu, so she immediately replied, and Shen Zhui called her back.
He was on his way to the TV station recording studio.
In one of the movies starring Shen Zhui, there is a scene of a nighttime mountain rescue. This program recording imitated that mission. Before setting off, there was a game segment where guests and their friends tested their teamwork by talking on the phone. The higher the score, the more likely the team would start. The points could be exchanged for supplies, and the winner would be determined based on the rescue situation.
Shen Zhui asked if he could call her using his phone.
"I won't reveal your specific information. Sister Qi will go through the questions beforehand and filter out any that are unsuitable."
There will be an audience at the recording, and the two of them will be talking in full view of everyone. If they are filmed in the future, sooner or later someone will discover that there are clues to their relationship.
The other end of the phone was quiet; in the still air, she could hear his tense breathing.
Chenzhui awaited her answer.
What time is it?
Cheng Guo asked.
“Between six and seven in the afternoon,” Shen Zhui breathed a sigh of relief, then added, “it won’t interfere with your concert.”
"good."
Cheng Guo agreed.
The concert started at 7:30 p.m., and a long queue had formed outside the venue early on. Cheng Guo parked her car at the shopping mall across the street. Shu Shu was so excited when she heard that she was waiting for a call from the production team that she didn't even bother to buy any merchandise. She waited for the call with Cheng Guo and, with her usual shrewdness, took out her phone to search for leaked photos and videos of the day.
I actually found it.
According to audience members present, except for the first question, which was fixed, the rest were randomly selected.
She had heard that many shows have scripts, so at noon she asked Shen Zhui if she could leak the questions. Shen Zhui laughed and said no, adding that it would be better to worry that their chemistry was too good and that they would be discovered to be dating.
Cheng Guo had prepared the answer to the first question, but to her surprise, Shen Zhui messed up.
According to the host, Shen Zhui chose her from among his many friends because of her attentiveness, to test their teamwork and ask if she could help him complete the game. The rules of the game were simple: after the host gave a question, Shen Zhui would first write the answer on the whiteboard, and then she would answer verbally.
The first question was how long it had been since they first met, specifying the year or month. Cheng Guo casually answered, "Two and a half years."
The scene fell silent. The host exclaimed in an exaggerated tone, "When I received this question today, I asked the director, 'Is this an elementary school math problem? Who wouldn't remember how to tell time?' The production team confidently told me it was a freebie. One person said two and a half years, and another wrote six years?"
He then jokingly asked Shen Zhui, "Shen Zhui, Dr. Cheng isn't someone you unilaterally consider a friend, is he?"
The audience burst into laughter. Chen Zhui explained something, but Cheng Guo didn't hear it clearly and laughed along with the audience.
The next two questions were both related to Chen Zhui's business and were extremely detailed. Cheng Guo couldn't answer them. She silently signaled to Shu Shu to help her search for the answer to the next question. Unexpectedly, when the question came up again, a girl in the audience gave her the answer in a high-profile manner and shouted, "Go, sister! Go, Chen Zhui!"
This blatant cheating drew protests from other artists present. Amidst the chaos, Cheng Guo heard Shen Zhui's explanation, his tone languid but clearly showing dissatisfaction: "The compatibility test should involve both parties, not just me personally. In this situation, what's wrong with my fans reminding my friend?"
The last question finally went smoothly, but Chen Zhui's score was still at the bottom, and according to the rules, he had to be the last one to start.
After Cheng Guo hung up the phone, he sent a voice message. His tone was relaxed amidst the chaotic background: "Don't worry, go to the concert. I'll be the last one to leave and I'll still crush them."
With a large crowd inside the venue and the signal on the mobile phone running low, Cheng Guo simply put away his phone and focused his attention back on the game.
The young group members looked youthful and vibrant, and the atmosphere was lively, but it was probably not out of genuine love. Her personality was too calm, and her heart was completely unmoved. If there was a song she knew, she would hum along for a few lines, and if not, she would just wave her glow stick to the beat or listen quietly. Unlike Shu Shu, who seemed to be ten years younger, her voice was hoarse by the end of the concert.
"I really want to grab a younger brother to date, so I can have plenty of hormones and dopamine every day," Shu Shu teased, then winked at Cheng Guo, "You seem to be having a great time lately!"
Only when the horse is in motion can one truly thrive.
Cheng Guo lay on the sofa in his usual spot, lost in thought.
When Shen Zhui wasn't around, she looked around the small house, which was empty.
Since he came, the flowers in the house have been changed every two days, and the fish tank that used to only have aquatic plants now has a few lively little fish. He often follows her wherever she goes, filling the room with his presence and decorating her house to be warm and beautiful.
Cheng Guo got up, fed the fish, and then went to change the water for the flowers.
The sunflowers she sent him four days ago are still in a vase, and the edges of the petals have started to turn black. Cheng Guo took out her phone and ordered a new bunch.
If she changes the flowers every two days, he should be back by the time she buys the third bouquet.
Shen Zhui's show will be filmed until sunrise tomorrow. Cheng Guo lay in bed but couldn't sleep. She kept refreshing the leaked photos. It was cool on the mountain at night, and the tourists in the photos were all wearing jackets. Shen Zhui was wearing a thin, loose T-shirt with his microphone clipped to his collar. A black sports headband held his hair back, revealing an excessively handsome face. The tips of his hair were glistening with sweat, and his forehead, arms, and neck were covered in sweat.
He tilted his head back and drank the water from the bottom of the bottle, then threw the empty bottle into the trash can. Starting from last place and overtaking six others to take third, Chen Zhui had exhausted too much energy. He was covered in hot sweat, and the veins on the back of his hands were bulging. The hormones revealed in these details made people want to get closer.
Seeing that he had no supplies and there was still half the way to go, a fan kindly slipped him a bottle of water. He waved it off, reminding them to be careful while hiking at night, and that it was still early before sunrise, telling them to take their time and not rush. He then smiled at the VJ, signaling them to follow, before taking big strides uphill.
A tall, upright figure, radiating youthful energy, walked through the crowd. The VJ, wiping sweat from his brow with his lightweight GoPro, followed with a wry smile.
Fans shouted from behind, "Go Shenzhui and get first place!" Shenzhui didn't turn around, but just raised his hand and gave a thumbs up, meaning that there was no problem.
Energetic, vibrant, passionate, and surging.
Cheng Guo felt a surge of emotion in her chest. There were still five hours until sunrise. She rolled around on the bed with her pillow in her arms and suddenly longed to watch the sunrise with him from afar.
Her phone vibrated at that moment; Chen Zhui had sent her a message asking: "Are you asleep?"
Cheng Guo lay on the bed and replied no, then asked him if he was tired.
The person who was covered in sweat just now said they weren't tired and sent another photo.
The night sky, free from air pollution, is filled with countless stars, and the distant city is ablaze with lights.
The world was vast and quiet, and on the black curtain, the stars in the sky and the stars on the ground were connected.
This silent romance spread deep into Cheng Guo's heart. Just as she was about to type, Chen Zhui sent another message:
【miss you】
I want to climb mountains and watch the stars with you.
I want to kiss you.
Cheng Guo licked her lips, a tingling sensation seeping into her bones. The feeling of Chen Zhui not being home grew stronger and stronger. She missed him too, wanted to embrace his sweaty body, kiss his bobbing Adam's apple, and climb onto his broad shoulders.
After resting her forehead against her wrist for a while, Cheng Guo couldn't shake off the emptiness. She could only express it in writing, telling him directly: "I miss you too."
He replied again: 【Then let's watch it together sometime】
Let's find some time to address the meaningless promises made between adults.
Just as I was about to retract my reply, the action-oriented Shen Zhui responded: "I'll check it when I get back."
[And kissing]
Cheng Guo missed him even more. She rested her chin on her hand, looked at the screen, and thought about calling him.
But I also know that it must be inconvenient for him, as he is surrounded by staff, fans, and passersby.
He was born to be noticed, and was watched by millions of eyes.
He might be hiding somewhere right now, secretly texting her.
He still has tasks to complete.
My phone vibrated twice more. Chen Zhui sent me a message: [The second-place player has caught up. I'm continuing the mission.]
[Dr. Cheng, please close the doors and windows and go to bed early. Don't stay up late. I'll take pictures of the sunrise for you tomorrow morning.]
They've already taken first place.
Her puppy is so wonderful.
Worried that he might not be able to look at his phone again in a moment, Cheng Guo quickly replied: 【Good night, Yay, keep going!】
There has still been no reply.
When Cheng Guo woke up, her phone was already bright. Her phone was flooded with messages from Chen Zhui again.
This time, I was patted on the shoulder.
Perhaps worried that the continuous vibration would affect her sleep, and with some emotions she had nowhere to vent, Chen Zhui slapped himself all over the screen.
"Yay!" patted himself. Who is Yay?
"Yay!" patted himself, wondering why he was called "Yay."
"Yay!" patted himself on the shoulder, referring to himself and his Samoyed, those silly dogs.
"Yay!" patted himself. Where did he look like him?
"Yay!" He patted himself, wondering what reward he would receive for winning first place today.
"Yay!" I patted myself.
...
...
Cheng Guo glanced at the half-screen wish list, wanting to yank it off.
If he has one.
Finally, there was a video of the sunrise and a screenshot of a trending topic on Weibo.
As the sun broke through the sea of clouds and the rosy clouds shone brightly, people who had been exhausted all night cheered loudly as they faced the east, and some raised the national flag at this moment.
The red flag stands proudly between heaven and earth.
Shen Zhui used his camera to show her a vibrant and magnificent sunrise.
The trending topic on Weibo was from last night. Cheng Guo glanced at it and immediately spotted the key point: "Will they recast the scenes with different actors?"
Last night, the celebrity surnamed Z trended on Weibo for drug use and insulting China. He was the third male lead in the movie that Shen Zhui had just finished filming. The movie title was mentioned when he trended, and some netizens have already gone to the movie's official Weibo account to demand that the actor be replaced.
The show was recorded all night, and Shen Zhui didn't get to sleep until the morning. When he woke up at noon and saw Cheng Guo's message, he snorted angrily.
Her eyes are so big and beautiful, why can't we see those two celebrities who were photographed and then officially announced their relationship?
He logged onto Weibo and looked enviously at the names of the two celebrities still trending second, then glanced at his own name, which still held the top spot alone. While eating, he asked Li Jierui, "Did Dr. Cheng and I trend on Weibo yesterday?"
The public opinion monitoring was handled by a girl in the studio. Li Jierui was the assistant and also knew about it, saying, "It appeared in the real-time trending topics."
"And then?"
"That's all."
"How did it disappear?"
"Money power".
“Brother, you need to sign that endorsement deal. Sister Qi said you’ll make a lot of money,” Li Jierui added.
"..."
They didn't even have a chance to stand out.
When will everyone find out he's in a relationship?
Cheng Guo's guess was correct. The incident involving the drug-using celebrity surnamed Z had a huge impact. Before Shen Zhui even returned to Licheng, he received news that the actor would be replaced and the scenes with Z would have to be reshot. He would have to join the crew a few days after returning to Licheng.
Fortunately, the filming of the movie in which he made a cameo appearance went smoothly and was completed a day ahead of schedule. Shen Zhui asked Li Jierui to book the next available flight so he could fly back and surprise Cheng Guo.
When I got home and opened the door, I was taken aback.
