Chapter 155 Persuasion

In the evening, Li Changle finally saw his father. He saw Li Zhenning dragging a tired body back home at around eight o'clock. In order to wait for him, the food prepared by Lu Chengying had gone cold.

"Dad, you're back. Let's eat." Li Changle saw that Li Zhenning seemed to have more white hair than the last time he came home, and his complexion was not as good as before. He couldn't help but sigh in his heart. This time, no matter what he said, he couldn't let his father continue to do this job.

"Changle, Yani, you are all back." Although Li Zhenning looked tired, he smiled with relief when he saw his children coming back. After all, their family had not had dinner together for more than half a year.

"Dad, why do you look so tired?" Although Li Yani was heartless, she felt a pang of sadness when she saw that her father's hair had turned a lot grayer than when he left home for school. It had only been a short time, and she spoke with tears in her voice.

"Hi, I'm just a little tired after get off work, nothing serious. Your dad is still in good health and will have no problem supporting you through college."

Li Zhenning didn't care and said it cheerfully.

"I don't need you to support me anymore. I can earn money by myself now. I can make several thousand a month." Having said this, Li Yani immediately raised her head and said, proud like a peacock.

"Really? Don't delay your studies. Studying is the most important thing. I'll be angry if you can't graduate because of this little money."

Li Zhenning said in a deep voice that the school Li Yani was admitted to was better than Li Changle's. When he was in his hometown, he invited the neighbors to hold a graduation party together. It was the pride of their family.

Because of this, Li Zhenning had high hopes for Li Yani. If Li Yani didn't even get her diploma, it would be embarrassing. He would also lose face, and he might even be gossiped about when he returned home.

"Oh, don't worry, Dad. I just wrote some novels in my spare time. I didn't expect to make money from it."

"If you like reading, then study hard. Why write novels when you have nothing to do? It's not like your dad can't support you." Hearing that Li Yani made money by writing novels, he felt relieved, but he didn't support her that much in his heart.

"My brother is also writing a novel right now and he doesn't even have a job. Why can he do it but I can't?"

Li Yani was a little unconvinced. She wanted to support herself independently. She would never forget the look on her father's face when he came home just now. She made up her mind not to take money from her family anymore.

Li Changle, who was drinking soup, choked when he heard Li Yani pour the soup on him.

"Cough cough cough."

Li Changle touched his chest and breathed slowly, then said speechlessly, "Why are you talking to me?"

"Didn't you say before that you had a job? Is this your job?"

Li Zhenning and Lu Chengying both looked at Li Changle. They had previously thought that Li Changle had found a job related to his major after graduation, but they didn't expect that he was actually a freelancer.

"Yes, yes..." Li Changle replied awkwardly.

"Huh...you guys didn't know? I thought my brother had told you." Li Yani found that she seemed to have caused trouble for Li Changle and stuck out her tongue.

"But don't worry, my brother is making a lot of money by writing novels. His novel is super popular. I estimate he has earned several million." Li Yani thought she could make up for the loss, so she quickly boasted to her parents.

"So many!" Li Zhenning and Lu Chengying were both surprised. They were ordinary working class people, and they believed that a stable job and a stable income were the best.

They never expected that Li Changle could earn millions in just over half a year, which had a huge impact on their worldview.

Li Changle saw the shocked expressions on her parents' faces and immediately sighed. She knew this would happen and she had never told them because she was afraid they wouldn't be able to accept it.

Or maybe the family has so little income and they are afraid that their parents will get lost, so they just send a few tens of thousands of dollars home every month to prevent their parents from being unable to accept this for a while.

Li Yani looked at Li Changle and her parents innocently, as if she had said something wrong again? Ah, she simply kept silent and threw the blame on Li Changle, letting Li Changle fix this mess.

"Well, Dad, Mom, I didn't mean to hide it from you. I was just afraid that you wouldn't be able to accept it..." Li Changle was going to explain anyway.

But Li Zhenning waved his hand and said, "It's okay, I know you did the right thing."

Li Changle was happy to see Li Zhenning so open-minded. Thinking of Li Zhenning's work, he decided to strike while the iron was hot:

"Dad, we don't need money right now. Why don't you just quit your job and resign tomorrow? It doesn't matter if you don't even get paid. If you lose your job, you're gone. But if you lose your health, you're really gone."

Seeing that Li Zhenning was still conflicted, Li Yani quickly followed suit: "Dad, don't do that job anymore. It's too tiring. The salary isn't much, and if you collapse, the medical expenses will be higher than what you earn."

"What are you talking about, kid?" Lu Chengying gave Li Yani a slap in the face. She spoke without any reason and no one knew where she learned it from.

Li Yani felt pain and touched her head, but she still pouted unconvincedly and said, "I was right in the first place. I should have quit this crappy job a long time ago."

"Dad, if you're worried about having nothing to do after you quit, let's go buy a shop. You can do whatever you want, and I'll invest in you."
