He appeared to be over fifty years old, with graying temples, but his hair was unbleached, revealing his most authentic self.
Gu Yuan stood up and shook hands, "President Tang, it's a pleasure to meet you."
Tang Qiang returned the handshake, "Nice to meet you."
Fu Hange was getting a headache from all the polite small talk, so she simply turned her face away and looked at the scenery outside. The view from here was truly unique; the London Eye was directly opposite this building, and even though this was the top floor, it still felt incredibly distant.
Fu Hange could see it exceptionally clearly from here, as if it were right in front of her, but the actual distance was still very far, separated by several rivers. When she was little, she longed to come to London, but those who took care of her wouldn't allow it, saying they had to wait until she was older. But now that she was so old, this was her first time in London, and her first time seeing the London Eye, and it was still so far away, so close yet so far.
She didn't know when sleepiness came over her. Seeing Gu Yuan and Tang Qiang chatting so enthusiastically, Fu Hange didn't make a sound and quietly fell asleep behind Gu Yuan. She even had a dream at some point. In her dream, she and Gu Yuan were riding a Ferris wheel together, right on the London Eye that they had just seen.
She smiled, took Gu Yuan's hand, and said softly, "We'll come here every year from now on."
In her dream, Gu Yuan gently lifted her hair and responded tenderly, "I'll grant you whatever you want."
She leaned gently on Gu Yuan's shoulder, the afterglow of the sunset witnessing their vows, as if the world had no one else but each other.
She couldn't help but laugh out loud, her body trembling slightly. She suddenly woke up, opening her eyes to see Gu Yuan and Tang Qiang staring at her strangely. Her mind cleared instantly; it had all been a dream. She forced a smile, afraid of jeopardizing Gu Yuan's plans, and quickly apologized, "I'm so sorry, I was just... too tired..."
Gu Yuan glanced at her coldly but didn't say anything. Tang Qiang, on the other hand, not only didn't blame her for being impolite, but also laughed loudly: "President Gu really knows how to make things difficult for people, look how tired this little girl is."
Laughter filled the entire reception room. Gu Yuan forced a polite smile, but inwardly he wanted nothing more than to kill her. Fu Hange also laughed awkwardly.
Tang Qiang glanced at the time, took a sip of coffee, and said, "Alright, Mr. Gu, it's getting late. Let's continue tomorrow."
Gu Yuan got up to see Tang Qiang off, but Tang Qiang stopped him, turning his head to look at Fu Hange behind Gu Yuan. He was speaking to Gu Yuan, but he was looking at Fu Hange, saying, "By the way, Mr. Gu, you should let this little girl get some rest tonight."
Even after he finished speaking, the smile in his eyes was still undeniable.
After Tang Qiang left, Gu Yuan turned to look at Fu Hange standing behind him, raised an eyebrow and said, "You acted well."
Fu Hange was speechless for a moment. Would he believe her if she told him she was really asleep? Besides, she had even dreamed about him. Fu Hange would never say such shameful things. She walked past Gu Yuan and left the reception room.
Sure enough, Gu Yuan's sarcastic voice echoed in her ears: "Don't worry, someone was watching us just now. I was just putting on an act. You don't need to do this. Anyway, I don't even like you."
These words undoubtedly pierced Fu Hange's heart, but only by letting Gu Yuan believe this could she feel at ease and preserve her last shred of dignity.
Gu Yuan had already strode into the elevator and gone down, leaving Fu Hange standing there dumbfounded. She gave a cold laugh and pressed the button for another elevator to go down.
