A cold wind blew in from outside, and Fu Hange was still cold despite wearing a coat. Time flies, and it was already the end of December. There were only a few days left until New Year's Eve. In previous years, she had always spent it alone. This year, she really wanted Gu Yuan to be with her, but even though she knew it was impossible, she couldn't help but think about it.
There wasn't a single car outside. Gu Yuan stood in the bleak, cold wind, his back view appearing lonely and desolate. Fu Hange guessed that he had also been isolated and helpless, which was why he had become so cold-blooded and ruthless today.
Fu Hange walked up to him, breathed on her hands, rubbed them together, and looked at Gu Yuan, saying, "It seems unusually cold this year."
Gu Yuan looked at her: "What do you want to say?"
I want to spend New Year's Eve with you. Fu Hange didn't say these words out loud. Some words, once spoken, change everything.
She walked forward with a smile, rubbing her hands as she went. When that didn't work, she put her hands back into her coat pockets, but they were freezing cold inside, like an ice cellar. She didn't have gloves, so she had to endure it and wait to warm her hands up.
Gu Yuan caught up at some point and said, "Let's go eat first."
Fu Hange hadn't noticed that it was already close to noon. She and Gu Yuan hadn't had time to eat since they left in the morning, and she was actually quite hungry.
They happened to walk into a noodle shop, where the aroma wafted out and the steam hit their faces. Fu Hange went inside and said, "This is it."
Gu Yuan communicated fluently with them in English, while Fu Hange sat to the side waiting for the noodles to be served.
After dinner, Fu Hange and Gu Yuan returned to the hotel, and the two traveled peacefully together. Once back, Fu Hange repacked the suitcase; she hadn't had time to properly dispose of it in the morning's rush. She stacked the two suitcases together, covering the pink one underneath with a black one to prevent Gu Yuan from seeing it.
After everything was set up, Gu Yuan stood outside, one hand resting on the sofa, his fingers showing distinct bones and looking extremely handsome. Fu Hange walked over and found a seat a short distance away from him. "Do you really think Tang Qiang's men are watching us?"
Gu Yuanchao made a shushing gesture and walked to the French windows, with Fu Hange following behind. From here, you could see the whole of London. A car that had taken them to see Tang Qiang that morning was parked by the railing, and Tang Qiang's secretary was loitering around the car.
Fu Hange was immediately alarmed. She hadn't expected that Tang Qiang would actually send people to watch them, and to do so so carefully.
She opened her mouth and asked Gu Yuan, "What will happen if we give ourselves away?"
Gu Yuan moved closer to her and said in an unquestionable tone, "You'll get nothing, and you might even be ruined, so you'd better listen to me."
Fu Hange swallowed hard, her heart pounding. Gu Yuan's words—was she really going to take their fake relationship for real? She dared not think further. She shook her head, trying to clear her mind.
Fu Hange and Gu Yuan were bored until evening, wondering where to eat, when Tang Qiang's secretary called. He arrived quickly; Gu Yuan had just been wondering why Tang Qiang wouldn't be so rude and uncooperative, and here he was.
The location was set in a famous hotel in London. To make the performance more convincing, Fu Hange took the initiative to link her arm with Gu Yuan as soon as she stepped out, which made him turn around and glance at Fu Hange before returning to his normal self with a smile.
It was the same car, and the same secretary who picked them up. As soon as they got in the car, the secretary couldn't help but praise them again: "You two have such a good relationship."
Gu Yuan politely replied, "Thank you for the compliment, we will do even better."
