Chapter 421 Departure

She handed the passport to Gu Yuan and said with pursed lips, "I'm returning it to you. Can you stay a few more days?"

No sooner had he finished speaking than Gu Yuan hurriedly walked past her, went into his room, dragged out his suitcase, and began packing his things, preparing to return to China.

He was worried about Fu Hange over there. Even if she didn't care at all, he still wanted to go back and check on her, just to put his mind at ease.

Gu Yuan didn't have many clothes, and he quickly packed a few changes of clothes. He carried his suitcase and walked out quickly, while Bai Xin was standing at the door watching him.

"Would you like to wait a bit before leaving? I'll book your flight for you."

Gu Yuan gave her a cold glance, then walked past her.

He fanned himself slightly, creating a cool breeze that swept over Bai Xin. She seemed somewhat numb, remaining motionless on the spot.

Gu Yuan immediately ordered someone to book the fastest flight of the day, intending to fly back overnight.

He arrived at the airport with his suitcase, intending to leave just like that, but his phone rang at the most inopportune moment.

Upon hearing the contents, Gu Yuan's face immediately darkened. He gripped the phone tightly, his eyes filled with confusion and uncertainty.

The phone call I just received said that Mingheng had a problem with one of his projects. This time, Bai Xin wasn't lying to him; it was true.

Gu Yuan felt a tightness in his chest, a lingering discomfort that wouldn't go away.

The reason is that a company that was originally cooperating with Mingheng suddenly wanted to terminate the contract, and Mingheng's biggest partner was them. If the contract was terminated, the consequence would be a loss of more than hundreds of millions.

My trip back home was thus delayed.

He dared not take the risk, nor was he willing to take it.

It wasn't because he didn't love her, but because he couldn't give up his career for some childish romance. This is the thought process of a mature man.

On the contrary, he loved her enough, so he wanted to give her some security in their relationship. But how could he, who was penniless, possibly provide her with everything she wanted?

Moreover, Fu Hange is probably still angry with him right now and hasn't done anything significant, so his going back won't help.

With that thought in mind, Gu Yuan immediately arranged his schedule, made a meeting with the company, and planned to meet at the most bustling hotel in New York that evening.

He tore up his plane ticket again and dragged his luggage back the way he came.

Bai Xin was startled to see Gu Yuan return. She asked with some surprise, "Mr. Gu, is there something you need?"

She asked that question on purpose to test his limits.

Gu Yuan dragged his luggage in while patting his clothes. "There's a dinner party tonight, it's about the lifeblood of Mingheng. Get ready, you'll be coming with me later."

Bai Xin felt as if her heart was filled with flowers. It had been so long since she had worked with Gu Yuan, and this was the first time she had formally attended a public event with Fu Hange since they met.

Bai Xin felt the gloom from before vanish, replaced by excitement, an unstoppable excitement.

She stole a glance at Gu Yuan's profile; he was cold and serious, exuding an extraordinary aura.

Bai Xin deliberately changed the subject and asked, "President Gu, when did you plan to come back?"

Gu Yuan glanced at her, seemingly thinking the question was a bit unreasonable, and finally chose to avoid the topic, putting the suitcase back in its original place.

When he came out, he said to Bai Xin, "Are you all packed? If you are, let's go."
