The next morning, only Fu Hange was left. She closed her eyes and reached out to touch the pillow next to her, but it was empty.
She wasn't too disappointed, after all, this result was expected, and she really didn't dare to hope for too much from him.
Fu Hange got dressed and went downstairs, then resumed her boring life.
The housekeeper went out at noon, leaving only Fu Hange in the room. She dozed off on the sofa because she was sleepy.
While Fu Hange was fast asleep, she noticed someone outside and dragged her tired body out.
I had just reached the gate when I saw the person I least wanted to see.
Bai Xin stood before her, exuding an aura of righteous indignation. "What, you don't welcome me in for a seat?"
Fu Hange didn't want to open the door for her, but she also wanted to see what Bai Xin had to say to her.
She invited her in and even poured her a glass of water herself. Bai Xin, without any hesitation, picked up the glass and drank it.
"Speak, what brings you here?" Fu Hange asked preemptively.
Bai Xin put down the glass of water. "It seems like it's been a long time since we last met, hasn't it?"
Fu Hange was getting impatient: "What exactly are you trying to say?"
"Don't rush me. Once you hear what I'm about to say, you'll regret letting me in."
Fu Hange stood opposite her, her hands folded in front of her chest, looking at her impatiently.
"Say what you have to say quickly."
Bai Xin took another sip of water before saying, "Do you know why President Gu keeps you by his side?"
"He just thinks I'm useful to him," Fu Hange said nonchalantly.
Bai Xin smiled and waved her index finger in front of her. "But do you think you still have any use? How can your family compare to President Gu now? Besides, don't you think about it? Your family is already ruined, just an empty shell. You say President Gu is using you? What use are you anyway?"
When asked to stay put, Fu Hange replied, "Yes, the Xu family has declined and can never return to what it was before. What value is there in keeping her by my side?"
Perhaps Xu Yan herself didn't even realize how ugly her expression had become.
Bai Xin caught her expression perfectly and said with a smile, "I know you must be feeling bad right now. Are you thinking that he keeps you by his side because he loves you?"
Fu Hange shot a sharp glare at her, "What do you mean?"
Bai Xin was clearly satisfied with her reaction. She said slowly, "If you think he kept you here because he loves you, you are very wrong. He kept you here only because he pitied you. A stray dog is no longer a threat to his business."
Fu Hange's fingers clenched tightly around the hem of her clothes, turning white, her lips trembled, and her whole body shook.
Bai Xin laughed even more smugly, "Think about it, why wouldn't someone who poses absolutely no threat to him keep by his side for his amusement?"
"Shut up!" Fu Hange shouted suddenly.
Bai Xin seemed unafraid and continued, "During the time you were gone, he was with me every moment."
Fu Hange felt dizzy and lightheaded, as if she was about to fall. The world seemed to be spinning around her, and she could no longer find her way around.
"Alright, that's all I wanted to say. If you want to continue living in your fantasy about him, then keep being so devoted to him. But will he even give your sincerity a second glance?"
Bai Xin gave her a sarcastic laugh and left. Xiang Yan suddenly fell to the ground, as if she could never get up again and wanted to take root in the ground.
