Bai Di's pupils contracted sharply, and her slender fingers unconsciously tightened their grip on her clothes.
She looked at the mangled corpses scattered all over the ground. Those high-ranking cultivators who were usually so aloof were now like ripped rag dolls, lying in various places.
"How could this be..." Her voice trembled, her lips shaking uncontrollably, "This is impossible..."
She staggered back two steps, her gold-embroidered shoes sinking into a pool of blood that had not yet congealed.
The warm touch made her jump back, only to crash into the charred half of the torso behind her.
Bai Di let out a short scream, her delicate makeup smudged by tears, leaving two messy marks on her face.
"They could have crushed you with a single finger..." she muttered to herself, her voice growing increasingly shrill, "It can't be!"
She had been dreaming that "if I lure Bai Ying here, they will give me the Spirit Gathering Pearl inside Bai Ying's body."
But now, everything is over!
Bai Ying stood quietly in the center of the pool of blood, her pure white dress spotless.
She raised her hand to brush away a stray strand of hair from her forehead, a perfectly ordinary gesture that made Bai Di flinch like a startled bird.
They are all dead.
"Bai Ying's voice was soft, yet it was like an icicle piercing Bai Di's heart," she said. "Now, it's your turn."
Bai Di was terrified beyond measure, like he had gone mad.
"No...don't come any closer!" Her voice was shrill and distorted, as if someone had grabbed her throat. "Get away! Get away from me!"
She clutched her head and screamed, "Ah!"
Bai Yanfeng's roar tore through the stagnant air. He staggered to the edge of the formation, the jade pendant at his waist clanging violently as it clattered: "Bai Ying! Don't forget your surname is Bai!"
His voice was choked with sobs, and his forehead was soaked with cold sweat that clung to his pale face. "When you were kidnapped back then, your parents searched for you frantically! Now that you're back, is this how you repay their blood debt?"
Bai Ying slowly turned her head. A cold smile curled at the corner of her lips as she stepped over the remnants of the cultivators' nascent souls, splashing tiny beads of blood: "Bloodline grace?"
"Yes! It's the bond of blood, Bai Ying. No matter what, your blood is your parents' blood..."
You can't kill Xiaodi! She's your sister. You can't do such a heinous thing; it would break our parents' and my hearts. If you really kill her, our family will never forgive you!
Bai Yanfeng was eager to move Bai Ying with his words.
"Bai... Bai Ying, as long as you are willing to let Xiao Di go, we can pretend that what happened between us never happened."
I can forgive everything you've done! I'll treat you like my little sister, okay?
I'll also make sure Mom and Dad treat you very well. Didn't you come back because you longed for family? Now, we can give you all of that!
Bai Ying looked at him with unusual sarcasm.
"Forgive?" she repeated the word softly, as if savoring something utterly ridiculous. "I need your forgiveness?"
Her fingertips gently touched the scar on her dantian—a scar left from when she personally removed her spiritual root.
So they knew I came back because I longed for family!
But have they ever shown me any affection?
They always blamed themselves and always thought they were inferior to Bai Di!
Bai Ying had indeed longed for that warmth from her family.
But the things her so-called relatives did disappointed her time and time again, until she finally despaired!
Can these people also be called her family?
So she would rather have never had any family!
"You dare mention family ties?"
Bai Ying's voice was soft, yet sharp as a knife, "Where was your kinship when Bai Di slandered me? Where was your kinship when Zhou Ying placed a talisman on me?"
She walked forward step by step, her boots making a dull thud as they crunched over the blood on the ground.
"Bai Yanfeng, do you know?" She suddenly tilted her head, revealing an innocent yet cruel smile, "I'd rather be a bastard born from a crack in a rock than shed the same blood as you."
Bai Yanfeng staggered. He had never seen Bai Ying like this before—those usually indifferent eyes now looked like poisoned knives.
Bai Ying looked down at him, her eyes filled with disgust.
"Bai Yanfeng, you actually think you can use family ties to morally blackmail me?" She sneered. "Let me tell you, from the moment you were about to dig out my spiritual root for Bai Di, I no longer have any family! In my eyes, you are not even as good as the most complete strangers. Seeing you makes me feel disgusted and hateful!" The spiritual power around her surged wildly, and her killing intent spread like a tangible entity.
She turned her face to Bai Di and said in an unusually nasty tone:
"Guess why I didn't kill you from the start? It's because I wanted you to see the people you summoned die one by one in front of you. Those people you relied on couldn't even protect themselves. How could they possibly protect you?"
I want to make you feel fear, feel terror! White Flute, it would be such a waste to kill you so easily!
Now, you can finally die!
Bai Di's pupils contracted violently, and her whole body trembled uncontrollably. Her skirt was already soaked with cold sweat and blood, clinging tightly to her legs. She suddenly realized that all her meticulous scheming had become the prelude to her death prepared by Bai Ying.
