Chapter 539 Who said the Xuantian Sect has no one left?

Xiao Yunlan's sword tip sparked dazzlingly against the light shield, and the piercing shriek sounded like the howls of thousands of vengeful ghosts.

Veins bulged on his forehead, and his spiritual power surged wildly into the sword, the cold light condensing on its blade almost piercing the sky.

But the seemingly thin light shield remained completely still, without even a ripple.

Chu Wuchen calmly raised his hand, his slender, jade-like fingers gently touching the light shield, a faint blue halo emanating from his fingertips.

"Your moves are nothing but child's play in my eyes." His voice was calm and unhurried, yet carried a suffocating sense of oppression. "Three years have passed, and the Xuantian Sect is still the same... disappointing."

The disciples of the Xuantian Sect below the stage turned extremely ugly when they heard Chu Wuchen belittle the Xuantian Sect in this way.

"That damned bastard, die!"

"This traitor dared to insult the sect like this! Senior Brother Xiao, kill him!"

But as Chu Wuchen lightly tapped his fingertip, strange ripples suddenly appeared on the surface of the light shield, like a stone being thrown into a calm lake.

The ripples spread rapidly and condensed into countless tiny ice crystals in the air.

Xiao Yunlan's pupils shrank sharply. Before he could even pull back, he felt an extremely cold force surge up along the sword. The chill penetrated to his very bones, freezing even his soul.

"Click—"

The crisp sound of shattering echoed throughout the arena, particularly jarring in the deathly silent arena.

Xiao Yunlan's sword shattered into pieces, and the gleaming fragments drew tragic arcs in the air, slowly falling like withered cherry blossoms.

Even more terrifying was that the chilling power had already invaded his meridians, freezing all spiritual energy wherever it passed, and even his blood seemed to congeal.

"puff!"

Xiao Yunlan spat out a mouthful of blood, which froze into ice in mid-air and made a crisp sound when it landed. He staggered back several steps, leaving a blood-stained, frost-covered footprint on the bluestone ground with each step.

The Xuan Tian Sect members below the stage looked ashen-faced.

The whisk in Master Wei Ji's hand fell to the ground with a "thud," and several young disciples' legs went weak, almost causing them to kneel down.

They could see clearly that Chu Wuchen hadn't moved a finger from beginning to end, yet he had severely injured the most outstanding young disciple of the Xuantian Sect with just his protective qi!

"I said this three years ago," Chu Wuchen said slowly, his black brocade boots stepping on the icy ground, each step accompanied by a subtle cracking sound, as if stepping on the hearts of everyone in the Xuantian Sect, "that the swordsmanship of the Xuantian Sect is nothing more than this."

He raised his hand and made a grasping motion, and suddenly a cold wind howled in the air, with countless black wisps of energy converging from all directions.

A longsword made entirely of black demonic energy appeared out of thin air, its blade wreathed with countless twisted vengeful spirits. Those translucent faces struggled and howled incessantly, their shrill cries piercing straight to the soul.

"Now, it's time for you to witness the true way of the sword." Chu Wuchen's voice suddenly became ethereal and otherworldly. He lightly twisted his wrist, and where the demonic sword passed, even the space itself cracked slightly. "This sword strike is called 'Yellow Springs'."

Before Chu Wuchen could finish speaking, the demonic sword in his hand roared out like a malevolent dragon from the underworld. Even before the sword's edge arrived, the chilling killing intent froze the air within a ten-zhang radius, and the blue bricks on the dueling platform cracked inch by inch, actually crushed by the pure sword intent!

Xiao Yunlan's pupils contracted sharply, and his blood seemed to freeze. He watched helplessly as the dark sword light tore through space, and the vengeful spirits wrapped around it emitted piercing screams, as if trying to drag him into the deepest hell.

Just as the demonic sword, wreathed in vengeful spirits, was about to pierce Xiao Yunlan's heart, his blood-stained fingers suddenly reached into his robes and pulled out an ancient talisman gleaming with golden light. The cinnabar patterns on the talisman burst forth with dazzling light at that moment, and the four ancient seal characters "Xuantian Edict" were faintly visible.

"Break it!"

Xiao Yunlan roared and slammed the talisman at the oncoming demonic sword. The instant the talisman collided with the sword's edge, a golden Bagua diagram appeared out of thin air. The yin and yang fish within the diagram spun rapidly, devouring all the wailing vengeful spirits.

"boom--!"

Amidst the deafening explosion, blinding golden light and black mist intertwined to form a violent vortex. Xiao Yunlan was thrown off the stage like a kite with a broken string by the shockwave. His white robes were already soaked in blood, leaving a shocking trail of blood on the bluestone ground.

"Yunlan!"

The Xuan Tian Sect members rushed forward in alarm. The Third Elder grabbed his pulse point, his face instantly turning deathly pale—his meridians were shattered, his dantian was shaking, and even more terrifying was that the chilling demonic energy was frantically eroding his internal organs.

"Quick! Bring the Nine-Turn Rejuvenation Pill!" The Grand Elder's voice trembled as he pressed a palm against Xiao Yunlan's back, continuously channeling his powerful spiritual energy into him. However, the demonic energy, like a leech, instead eroded Xiao Yunlan in the opposite direction, following the flow of spiritual energy.

On the high platform, Chu Wuchen casually flicked his sleeves. Looking at the chaotic Xuan Tian Sect members below, he chuckled, "The talisman you just produced was quite interesting, but unfortunately..."

He suddenly raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

"Pfft!" Xiao Yunlan, who was originally unconscious, suddenly spat out a mouthful of black blood. The blood turned into countless tiny black insects after it hit the ground.

"Demonic energy transforming into a Gu poison?!" the Second Elder exclaimed in shock. "Quickly seal all the major acupoints on his body!"

Chu Wuchen stood with his hands behind his back, his black robes fluttering in the wind: "This sword strike wasn't meant to take his life." A cruel smile flashed in his eyes. "I want the entire Xuantian Sect to watch how your most prized disciple is turned into my puppet inch by inch."

"asshole!"

The elder was furious. He drew his longsword with a clang, its blade gleaming coldly, and pointed it directly at Chu Wuchen's throat.
