"Boom!"
Amidst a deafening explosion, the protective array that had stood for millennia finally crumbled. Shattered light fluttered like snowflakes, and Qi Haoyuan was thrown dozens of feet by the shockwave, his back slamming heavily against the bronze cauldron in front of the Ancestral Hall. The cauldron dented, emitting a muffled hum.
Ruan Xinrou landed gracefully, her embroidered shoes clattering as they touched the array patterns personally carved by the founder of the Lingyin Sect. "That's it?" she tilted her head, a naive expression on her face. "The legendary mountain-protecting array...so easily defeated."
She slowly walked towards Qi Haoyuan, who lay in a pool of blood, a strange pink light condensing at her fingertips: "Why don't you kneel down and beg me?" The pink light traced a path between Qi Haoyuan's brows. "Perhaps... if I'm in a good mood, I'll spare your corpses..."
"Pah!" Qi Haoyuan spat out a mouthful of blood, mixed with half a broken tooth. "Kill me if you want! A disciple of the Lingyin Sect would rather die standing!"
Ruan Xinrou's smile froze instantly. She narrowed her eyes, a sudden surge of pink light within them: "Very well..." Her voice abruptly turned cold, "Then I will grant your wish!"
Just as the pink light was about to pierce Qi Haoyuan's brow, a beam of azure light shot up from behind him. It was his disciple, Zhou Jingmo, who was burning his life essence and unleashing his supreme treasure, the "Azure Nether Mirror."
"Master, run!" Zhou Jingmo cried out, bleeding from all seven orifices, yet he held on tightly to the mirror. The blue light and pink radiance emanating from the mirror collided, erupting in a blinding burst of light.
Caught off guard, Ruan Xinrou was forced back three steps by the blast. The pearl pendant on her body fell off with a clatter and rolled a long way in the pool of blood.
"You're asking for death!" Her beautiful face twisted instantly, and a red ribbon flew out from her sleeve, coiling around Zhou Jingmo's neck like a venomous snake.
Qi Haoyuan's eyes were bloodshot, but he didn't even have the strength to lift his hand. He watched helplessly as the red ribbon cut into Zhou Jingmo's flesh, and blood dripped down the ribbon, blooming into glaring flowers on the bluestone slab.
"Don't rush, you'll be next."
Ruan Xinrou turned to look at Qi Haoyuan, her eyes filled with murderous intent. The pink light at her fingertips condensed again, this time aimed directly at Qi Haoyuan's heart.
