When he regained consciousness, Xiao Changhen felt unwell. He seemed to be pressed by something and even had difficulty breathing.
When he opened his eyes, Xiao Changhen saw a pitch-black head, smelled the familiar fragrance of paulownia flowers and the fiery red tent ceiling, and he quickly understood his current situation.
A limp person was lying on top of him, and Xiao Changhen felt the familiar evil fire from last night rushing towards him. He took a deep breath and reached out to wake up the person lying on top of him, but he accidentally touched the delicate and soft skin, and the evil fire burned even more vigorously.
Fortunately, Jia Mianmian also woke up at this time. She looked up at Xiao Changhen hazily, then turned over and rolled off his body to the side, then rolled up the quilt and continued to sleep.
Xiao Changhen's breath was held, then he quickly jumped out of bed and put on his clothes. When he washed up and left the room, when he came to the front yard, the mess from last night had been cleaned up.
"Good morning, uncle."
Two guards and two maids stood in front of Xiao Changhen. It was obvious that they were the ones who cleaned up the mess in the courtyard. Xiao Changhen had no intention of letting a stranger stay in his private area for too long. He was just thinking of an excuse to let this person return to the Jia Mansion when one of the older maids stepped forward and spoke.
"Master said that since the young lady has married my uncle, she will belong to his family from now on. He asked us to pack up and return to the Jia Mansion."
The maid quietly looked up at the expression on Xiao Changhen's face, but couldn't tell what he meant. The master also said that if the son-in-law couldn't take care of the young lady, they would still have to stay for a while and teach him how to serve the young lady, but they could only stay after the son-in-law made such a request and stated it clearly.
Xiao Changhen did not try to keep them and happily sent them out of the yard.
Now, he and the sleeping Yan Baibai were the only ones left at home, and Xiao Changhen finally breathed a sigh of relief. To be honest, he didn't really like crowded places, and he didn't like being served by others.
When Xiao Changhen came to the kitchen, he found that there was already boiled hot water and breakfast. Looking at the sweet breakfast, Xiao Changhen knew that the maids had prepared it specially for their young lady.
When Xiao Changhen returned to the room with a basin of hot water, he saw Jia Mianmian already dressed and sitting in front of the dressing table. Xiao Changhen put the basin away, walked over to Jia Mianmian, and asked softly, "What's wrong?"
"Husband, I don't know how to comb my hair into a bun." Jia Mianmian was very distressed.
Xiao Changhen gathered her long black hair and felt troubled. He remembered when he first met Yan Baibai. At that time, her hair was not very complicated. But now that Mianmian was married, she could no longer wear the hair that looked like an unmarried girl.
"Mammy taught me, but I'm too stupid to learn." Jia Mianmian said a little frustrated, and then reached out to tear her hair, but Xiao Changhen grabbed her wrist with his hand.
"It's okay, I'm here."
After the two men finished messing with Jia Mianmian's hair, the hot water in the room that Xiao Changhen had brought had already gone cold.
The next three days were filled with bumps and bruises. Xiao Changhen soon discovered that Jia Mianmian was not as clueless as he had imagined. Apart from not being able to tie her hair, she had no problem taking care of herself. Perhaps it was because she was not required to do these things when she was in the Jia Mansion, but Xiao Changhen could clearly feel that Jia Mianmian had a strong learning ability. There were some things that she would quickly learn after he showed her once.
On the day of returning home, the two got up early. After learning, Xiao Changhen was able to easily tie various exquisite buns for Jia Mianmian, and received Jia Mianmian's strong approval.
The two did not go to make breakfast together that day, but went out to eat in a carriage. Their carriage stopped in front of a morning tea house, and because of their outstanding appearance, they quickly attracted the attention of many people.
Jia Mianmian didn't go out often, and even when she did, she would only go to places where there were more women. Caught off guard by so much attention, she hid behind Xiao Changhen in fear. Xiao Changhen also noticed his wife's abnormality. He held her hand tightly and quickly went upstairs. Only when the two figures disappeared did the first floor of the teahouse return to its usual bustle.
Sitting down in the compartment on the second floor, Xiao Changhen felt that Jia Mianmian relaxed, and he did not let go of the hand that was tightly holding Mianmian.
"Mianmian, don't be afraid. Others are just curious and have no intention of hurting you. Besides, I'm here. I said I would protect you."
"Yes, I will try my best to adapt, husband."
The two quickly finished their breakfast and left the teahouse. While the system was still sighing that it was just another ordinary and beautiful day, something happened.
When the two of them were driving their carriage in the middle of an alley, a few big men suddenly appeared at the intersection and blocked the way with a wicked grin on their faces. Xiao Changhen frowned, jumped off the carriage and looked back. Not surprisingly, he saw that the road behind the carriage was also blocked by a few men.
"Who are you?" Xiao Changhen asked coldly without changing his expression.
"Brother, I heard that you married Mr. Jia's silly daughter. I guess Mr. Jia must have given you a lot of benefits! Now that you are rich, you should also help us poor relatives, right?" The leading man said, his voice gradually getting louder, and his eyes moved from Xiao Changhen to the carriage behind him: "It's okay if you don't want to share the treasure, but the bride should also be sick-"
The leading gangster didn't have time to finish his words before he was kicked away by a black shadow with a side kick. Soon, shrill cries of grief and pleas for mercy were heard in the alley. Half an incense stick later, the carriage slowly left the alley, and the alley was filled with the bodies of the big men lying in all directions. They were all bruised and swollen, and they didn't even have the strength to groan.
