As for Yan Baibai, although she was now an ordinary person, she was able to easily find the herbs needed to treat colds and fevers thanks to the cheating tool of the system, and she also picked up a few rare herbs.
Yan Baibai left the outskirts of the forest carrying a full basket of herbs. This time she was not so lucky. No one gave her a ride. She had to walk away on her own two feet. When she was going down the mountain, Yan Baibai realized how time-consuming and laborious it was to walk up a mountain that looked not high.
As soon as he returned to the city, Yan Baibai went straight to the pharmacy and sold the herbs in his backpack and those rare herbs. Not only could Yan Baibai buy medicine, he also earned some spirit stones.
When Yan Baibai returned to the inn, there was no one on the first floor. The innkeeper, who was calculating on the counter, saw Yan Baibai coming in at a glance.
In the morning, Yan Baibai went to borrow a backpack from the shopkeeper in men's clothes and with a big scar on her face. When the shopkeeper saw Yan Baibai, his eyes lit up and he stopped his hands from moving on the abacus.
"Little girl, you're finally back!" The shopkeeper's voice was a little anxious. She saw the herbs in Yan Baibai's hand and her slightly dirty hands. She looked at her with a little more respect: "After you left, your husband came down to see you once."
From the shopkeeper's words, Yan Baibai learned that not long after she left, Xiao Changhen had come over and come downstairs to look for her. He had learned from the display case that she was going to the forest to look for medicinal herbs, and anxiously wanted to go find her there, but he was so ill that he fainted before he even reached the door. In the end, he was carried back to his room by the display case keeper and the staff.
"Thank you very much, boss." Yan Baibai thanked the person in charge of the display cabinet, handed the medicine to the waiter to take to the kitchen to boil it, asked for a basin of cold water and went upstairs.
Carrying water into the room, Yan Baibai reached out to touch Xiao Changhen's forehead, but was quickly frightened by the temperature of his forehead and withdrew his hand. Yan Baibai immediately began to wring out a handkerchief soaked in cold water to wipe Xiao Changhen's forehead and neck.
Yan Baibai's hands were suddenly tightly held, and when she raised her eyes, she saw Xiao Changhen's slightly opened eyes.
"Husband, it's me." Yan Baibai said softly, but the strength of holding her hand did not relax.
"Bai..." Xiao Changhen opened his mouth slightly, but no sound came out.
"Yeah, I'm back." Yan Baibai knew what he was going to say, so she automatically replied, "Don't worry, I didn't go anywhere dangerous. I'm safe."
When the hot big hand that was holding her hand finally let go, Yan Baibai immediately poured a glass of boiled water on the table, returned to the bed and let Xiao Changhen lean on her shoulder.
"Husband, drink some water first."
Xiao Changhen obediently drank all the water in Yan Baibai's cup. When Yan Baibai put the cup back, Xiao Changhen had already sat up.
Yan Baibai walked closer, wrung out the handkerchief and wanted to continue cooling Xiao Changhen physically, but her hand was stopped by Xiao Changhen again.
"Your hand..."
"Oh, I accidentally scraped it while picking herbs. It's okay, it will be fine in a few days."
While collecting herbs in the wild, no matter how careful Yan Baibai was, her hands were still inevitably scratched by the weeds. There were several shallow wounds on the back of Yan Baibai's hands, and the red blood lines formed a sharp contrast with the white and tender back of her hands.
Xiao Changhen looked at it and suddenly felt suffocated in his heart. His brows were tightly locked, and he felt like he was thrown into deep water, with everything around him tightly entangled. He had difficulty breathing and could not break free.
Knock knock knock—there was a sudden knock on the door.
"Who?" Yan Baibai asked.
"Sir, the boss asked me to bring some food up." The waiter's voice came from outside the door.
Yan Baibai opened the door and thanked the waiter. When she took the tray and closed the door, the door opposite to her left just opened. The last thing Yan Baibai saw outside the door was the smiling eyes of the little boy between the couple looking at her.
Yan Baibai didn't have the energy to pay attention to the strange look. When she smelled the aroma of the food, her taste buds seemed to awaken and her stomach began to ache slightly. At this time, Yan Baibai suddenly realized that she hadn't eaten for a long time.
Yan Baibai put the food on the table in the room, then went to the bed and helped Xiao Changhen sit down at the table. Perhaps because they knew there was a patient, the food served was very light, but it was delicious.
"No appetite?" After quickly finishing a bowl of rice, Yan Baibai looked up and saw that Xiao Changhen had not touched the food at all. He just stared at her blankly.
Yan Baibai put down the bowl in his hand, moved his stool closer to Xiao Changhen, picked up the porridge on his table and took a sip. The taste and temperature were just right, so he scooped a full spoonful and put it to Xiao Changhen's mouth.
"Be good, open your mouth."
Yan Baibai spoke to Xiao Changhen as if coaxing a child, and Xiao Changhen really opened his mouth obediently, took all the porridge on the spoon into his mouth, chewed it fully, and then swallowed it.
Seeing Xiao Changhen so obedient, Yan Baibai couldn't help but curl the corners of his mouth, and then scooped another large spoonful and put it to his mouth, but this time Xiao Changhen didn't open his mouth, and his eyes were still staring at Yan Baibai, as if waiting for something.
"..." Yan Baibai suppressed the smile on his face and said softly, "Be good, open your mouth."
Xiao Changhen really opened his mouth again obediently. In the end, the two of them kept repeating this until Xiao Changhen ate all the food.
The two had just finished their meal when there was another knock on the door. This time, without waiting for Yan Baibai to ask, the person knocking on the door spoke. It was the waiter who had just delivered the meal.
"Sir, your medicine is ready."
