The three were imprisoned by this sudden force, unable to move an inch. The statue slowly rose from its pedestal, exuding an ancient and majestic aura, its eyes icy as it stared at Mo Xi and the other two.
"Who dares to trespass here and covet the soul-calming jade pendant?" The voice of the statue was low and deep, as if it came from ancient times.
Mu Li attempted to channel her spiritual energy to break free from the imprisonment, but found it incredibly powerful, rendering her power useless. "We're searching for the Soul-Calming Jade Pendant to repair the seal on the Forgotten River and save the Underworld," Mu Li explained hastily.
The statue frowned slightly, as if pondering the truth of Mu Li's words. "What business has the safety of the underworld had with me? This soul-calming jade pendant has been guarded here for years. You can't just take it away if you want to," the statue replied coldly.
Seeing this, Mo Xi said sincerely, "Senior, the underworld is now in danger. If the seal of the Forgotten River cannot be repaired, the forces of darkness will invade on a large scale. By then, this land will be devastated, and the peace you have guarded here for so many years will no longer exist."
The statue was silent for a moment, then slowly spoke, "Even so, how can I trust you? Since ancient times, countless people with ill intentions have attempted to obtain the jade pendant to satisfy their own selfish desires."
Mu Yang also said anxiously: "Senior, we are really wholeheartedly devoted to the underworld. You see, we have obtained the Netherworld Cauldron, which is in preparation for repairing the seal." As he said, he signaled Mu Li to take out the Netherworld Cauldron.
Mu Li raised her hand with difficulty and presented the Netherworld Cauldron to the statue. Upon seeing the Netherworld Cauldron, a strange light flashed in the statue's eyes. "Netherworld Cauldron...it seems your words are true. Even so, I cannot easily hand over the Soul-Calming Jade Pendant to you."
"Then what do you want us to do in exchange for your trust?" Mu Li asked.
The statue pondered for a moment and then said, "If you can pass my test, I will give you the Soul-Calming Jade Pendant. This test is that, within this temple illusion, you must remain true to your heart and not be deceived by the illusions. When I am satisfied, the test will be over."
As soon as the words left his mouth, the surrounding scene shifted, and Mo Xi and the other two found themselves in a bustling city. The streets were bustling with traffic and pedestrians, a scene of peace and bustle. However, Mu Li was keenly aware that all of this exuded an air of unreality.
"Everyone, be careful. This is an illusion. Don't be fooled by the scene in front of you." Mu Li reminded.
At this moment, Mu Yang saw his long-missed family members appear on the street ahead. They were smiling and waving at him. Mu Yang was delighted and subconsciously wanted to run over. But he suddenly remembered Mu Li's reminder and stopped.
"This is all fake, all illusion." Mu Yang kept reminding himself in his heart.
On Mo Xi's side, he saw that the underworld had returned to its former peace and prosperity, with its people living and working in peace and contentment, and full of reverence for him, the King of the Underworld. This beautiful scene moved Mo Xi's heart, but he quickly came to his senses, knowing that this was just an illusion created by the illusion to shake his will.
Mu Li saw herself, Mo Xi, and their family living happily together, without conflict or danger. This heartwarming scene almost made her lose herself in it, but she gritted her teeth, pinched herself hard, and relied on the clarity brought by the pain to hold on to her heart.
However, the illusion seemed to sense their resistance and began to shift scenes, creating a cacophony of temptation and terror. One moment, it was the desperate pleas of loved ones, the next, the frantic pursuit of a terrifying monster. But Mo Xi and the other two reminded and supported each other, remaining true to their original intentions and unmoved by the illusion.
After an unknown amount of time, the illusion around them gradually dissipated, and they were back in the temple. The statue looked at them with a hint of approval in its eyes.
"Yes, you have passed the test." The statue handed the brocade box to Mo Xi and the other two...
Mo Xi took the brocade box and gently opened it. A jade pendant emitting a warm glow lay quietly inside. The jade pendant was half-moon shaped, transparent in texture, and engraved with intricate and exquisite patterns. A faint light flowed between the patterns, as if it contained endless power.
"This is the soul-calming jade pendant. It can stabilize the power of the soul and is crucial to repairing the seal of the Forgotten River." said the statue.
Mu Li and the others carefully stored the soul-calming jade pendant and expressed their gratitude to the statue once again. "Thank you for your trust, Senior. We will definitely use it to repair the seal and protect the underworld," said Mo Xi.
The statue nodded slightly: "Go, I hope you can complete your mission successfully."
The three of them left the temple, carrying the Soul-Calming Jade Pendant. They were now one step closer to successfully repairing the seal of the Forgotten River. Their next target was the Soul-Condensing Golden Lock. Following the directions in their minds, they arrived at a desolate desert.
The sun was blazing high, the sky was filled with yellow sand, and the scorching air currents hit us hard, making it hard to breathe. In this vast desert, finding the Soul-Condensing Golden Lock was no easy task.
"Where is this golden soul-condensing lock? This desert is endless." Mu Yang wiped the beads of sweat from his forehead and said anxiously.
Mu Li closed her eyes and tried to use her spiritual power to find the trace of the Soul-Condensing Golden Lock. However, the spiritual power fluctuations here were chaotic, as if interfered with by some force.
"Everyone, spread out and look around, paying attention to whether there are any abnormal spiritual fluctuations or special landforms around." Mo Xi said.
The three of them began to move separately in the desert. Mu Li carefully observed the sand under her feet as she walked. Suddenly, she noticed that the color of the sand in front of her was slightly darker than the surrounding area, and the flow of the sand seemed a little strange.
