Chapter 226 Mysterious Phantom

Mo Xi and the others cautiously approached the ancient altar. The runes on the blue light curtain emanated mysterious and powerful fluctuations, making it difficult to touch them. Mo Xi carefully observed the runes, trying to find a way to enter the light curtain. He discovered that the arrangement of the runes seemed to follow a certain pattern, similar to some formations recorded in ancient texts of the underworld.

"Everyone, don't rush to get close. I seem to have seen the patterns of these runes in ancient books of the underworld. There should be a way to crack them." Mo Xi said as he recalled the contents of the ancient books in his mind.

Mu Li and Mu Yang watched their surroundings warily, anticipating any further danger. The accompanying Underworld elites also tightened their weapons, maintaining a high level of alert.

After some thought, Mo Xi finally found a way to decipher the runes. He used his spiritual power to touch the runes on the light curtain one by one, following a specific sequence. As he moved, the runes glowed more intensely, and the blue light curtain gradually became transparent.

"It's done. Everyone follow me." Mo Xi walked into the light curtain first, and everyone followed closely behind.

Entering the altar, an ancient and solemn atmosphere washed over him. In the center of the altar sat a massive black stone tablet, densely engraved with runes and bizarre patterns. Surrounding the tablet were stone basins ablaze with faint blue flames. The flames flickered, unaffected by the surrounding cold.

Mo Xi approached the stone tablet and carefully studied the runes on it. These runes were more complex and profound than those on the light curtain, and contained powerful power. He tried to decipher the runes, but progress was slow.

Mu Li also came to the stone tablet and used her knowledge of various ancient characters to help Mo Xi decipher it. The two of them were completely absorbed in the world of runes.

At this moment, Mu Yang suddenly noticed that the atmosphere around him had become unusually solemn. He looked around and found that the originally calm blue flames began to jump violently, and a powerful force was quietly gathering.

"Oh no, there's danger! Everyone be careful!" Mu Yang warned loudly.

Everyone immediately dispersed, assuming combat stances. The runes on the stone tablet glowed brightly, and a gigantic phantom slowly emerged from it. This phantom resembled an ancient underworld god, emanating a powerful, suffocating aura.

"Intruders, why are you here?" The phantom's voice resounded throughout the altar like a huge bell, carrying endless majesty.

Mo Xi stepped forward and said respectfully, "Senior, we are here to stop a mysterious force from destroying the balance of the three realms. We learned that they once awakened a power here and tried to open a certain seal, so we came to explore the truth. I hope you can give us some guidance."

The phantom remained silent for a moment, as if pondering the truth of Mo Xi's words. "For years, evil forces have attempted to exploit the power of this altar to achieve their ambitions. The mysterious force you speak of may be connected to the forces that once sought to destroy the underworld. But to obtain this crucial information, you must pass my test."

"Please make it clear, senior, that we are willing to accept the test." Mo Xi said firmly.

The phantom nodded slightly, and the scene around them instantly changed. Everyone found themselves in a dark space, with countless black tentacles reaching out from all directions, trying to entangle them. These tentacles were tough and powerful, and once entangled, it was difficult to break free.

"Everyone be careful, these tentacles are very tricky." Mo Xi shouted, and at the same time drew out his sword and cut off the approaching tentacles. However, after being cut off, the tentacles quickly grew back and continued to attack.

Mu Yang cast a fire spell, and a raging flame burned in the darkness, trying to burn the tentacles. But the tentacles seemed to have a certain resistance to flames, and although they were burned by the flames, they continued to approach.

Mu Li, on the other hand, used her acrobatics to swiftly weave between the tentacles, searching for their weak points. She found the bases of the tentacles to be particularly vulnerable, so she channeled her spiritual energy into her sword and stabbed them there. With each strike, a tentacle broke, never to regenerate.

The elites of the Underworld also unleashed their respective spells, engaging in a fierce battle with the tentacles. Some used sword energy to cut the tentacles, while others used the Yin energy of the Underworld to freeze them. For a moment, the dark space was filled with flashes of light and the sound of killing continued.

With everyone's combined efforts, the black tentacles gradually dwindled. Just then, a gigantic black monster emerged from the darkness. This monster, shaped like an octopus, was covered in sharp spines. It opened its massive mouth and spewed a stream of black venom at everyone...

Black venom poured down on everyone like a torrential rain, too fast to dodge. Mo Xi acted decisively, quickly casting a defensive spell. A massive black shield appeared before everyone, blocking the venom's attack. The venom splashed onto the shield, making a sizzling sound, and ripples appeared on the surface, as if it would break at any moment.

"This venom is extremely corrosive, everyone be careful!" Mo Xi loudly reminded everyone while trying his best to maintain the shield.

Seeing this, Mu Yang immediately focused all his fire energy, condensing a blazing wall of fire in front of the shield. The fire wall came into contact with the venom, producing a large amount of white mist. With a hissing sound, the venom was evaporated by the high temperature. However, the monster did not stop its attack, waving its huge tentacles and smashing towards the shield fiercely.

The tentacle struck the shield, its powerful impact causing Mo Xi's body to tremble, a trickle of blood escaping from the corner of his mouth. But he gritted his teeth and resisted the shattering of the shield. Seizing the perfect moment, Mu Li flashed, approaching the monster like a ghost. Her longsword gleamed, and with a fierce strike, she stabbed at the monster's eyes.
