"How does it feel to fly on a sword?" Tu Longjian caught a glimpse of the smile on his lips out of the corner of his eye and turned to ask.
Feng Tianhe quickly pressed down the corners of his mouth, tilted his chin up, and whispered, "It's alright."
"Don't try to persuade me to cultivate, I won't listen."
Tu Longjian flew back to Flying Fox Peak on his sword, pointed to the open space, and gestured for Feng Tianhe to go down.
"An hour has passed, that's all for today."
Before Feng Tianhe could even regain his footing, she flew away on her sword again.
As Tu Longjian's figure grew smaller and smaller, Feng Tianhe subconsciously reached out his hand, a hint of reluctance showing in his eyes.
How could she just leave like that? She really is a heartless woman.
He slapped his hand away, plucked a foxtail grass from the nearby bushes, put it in his mouth, hummed a little tune, and skipped back home.
For the next few days, Tu Longjian would clock in for an hour every day to take Feng Tianhe for a ride in the sky.
She watched as the boy went from being terrified at first to being carefree later, and finally even casually lying on his back on the spirit sword for a nap.
Seeing Tu Longjian glancing at him, Feng Tianhe crossed his legs and proudly raised his small face, "I won't cultivate, I won't cultivate, no matter how much that bad woman forces me, it's useless."
In the past few days, he has realized that even bad women dare not harm him, just like the other cultivators in the past, they cannot do anything to him.
"Yeah?"
Tu Longjian finally decided to begin her evil plan.
She tied the spiritual rope around Feng Tian's waist and loosened the other safety ropes.
The spirit sword jolted, and Feng Tianhe, who was lying comfortably on his back, was suddenly shaken off.
He was hanging upside down high in the air, his face flushed red, screaming incoherently.
Tu Longjian ignored him and said calmly, "Climb up yourself."
Feng Tian's pretty little face scrunched up in anger as she roared, "You did this on purpose! You know I'm just a mortal, how am I supposed to climb up there!"
"Either cultivate or beg me."
Tu Longjian slightly raised his eyebrows, his complexion pale.
Feng Tianhe's upside-down body trembled, calming down from the violent shaking caused by his struggle.
His eyelashes trembled slightly, his eyes reddened, and he said with extreme humiliation, "I...I beg you."
After being rescued, Feng Tianhe huddled in the corner of the spirit sword, hugging his knees, silent and lost in thought, with tears welling in his eyes.
Seeing his distraught appearance, Tu Longjian's smile faded; perhaps she had gone a bit too far today.
When a naughty child quiets down, it's almost heartbreaking.
Tu Longjian smoothed the messy hair on Feng Tianhe's forehead, took out a piece of candy from his storage bag, and put it in Feng Tianhe's hand.
Feng Tianhe moved his sluggish, puppet-like body, stiffly took the candy, and stared at it in his hand. Large tears fell like pearls from a broken string.
"Waaaaah... Waaaaah..."
He sobbed uncontrollably, “My mother… before she died… loved to buy me candy the most.”
Tu Longjian patted his back reassuringly, but didn't say anything to comfort him; he just looked at him quietly.
Feng Tianhe seemed to want to vent all the grievances he had accumulated recently, and he cried loudly.
Tu Longjian frowned when he heard the noise, but said nothing. It was a good thing to let the child release all the negative emotions he had been suppressing for so long.
Feng Tianhe secretly noticed Tu Longjian's disdain, and her crying gradually subsided, turning into soft sobs.
He asked timidly, his heart pounding, "Could you take me down the mountain to see my mother?"
“After Grandpa brought me back, he always said that it was dangerous down the mountain and that once I entered the immortal realm, I had to forget about the mortal world.”
"I haven't seen my mother in a long time."
Tu Longjian thought about it for a moment. Protecting a little kid was not a difficult task for her, a Foundation Establishment cultivator.
"Okay, the time spent going down the mountain will also count towards the mission duration."
Upon hearing this, Feng Tianhe was overjoyed, and a look of delight appeared on his face.
Tu Longjian led Feng Tianhe down the mountain at breakneck speed, and following Feng Tianhe's directions, the two arrived at Huaheyu Village.
The stone tablet at the village entrance is leaning precariously to one side, its broken body shattering the large characters "Huaheyu Village".
The houses collapsed, and the broken bricks and tiles covered the path. The ruins stood silently in the air, accompanied only by the howling wind.
The sky was overcast, and the dim light cast a chilling shadow on the desolate landscape, spreading a crimson hue.
Standing before the crumbling ruins, Feng Tianhe felt a chill run through his body.
The once peaceful and tranquil village has vanished, and broken tiles and crumbling walls have buried my mother's grave.
"Xiao Tian, you're here to buy vegetables again? Is your mother feeling better?" The uncle selling vegetables at the stall asked with concern.
"Uncle, I'm feeling better." Young Feng Tianhe's voice was soft and sweet, like a little dumpling.
"Good boy, take this bunch of vegetables with you, Uncle won't charge you."
"Xiao Tian, look! There's a big fish here! Let's catch it together!" Shi Tou, the neighbor with a chubby face, eagerly came over and called him to go catch fish together.
"Brother Stone, we'll play together another day. I need to go home today to make vegetable porridge for my mother." Feng Tianhe frowned and looked longingly at the older children playing by the stream, but he didn't feel any resentment in his heart.
"Little Tian, your mother is dying. Go with the immortal." His mother, her face pale and sorrowful, uttered her last words. Later, the immortal grandfather helped him build a large tomb for his mother in the village.
The faces of the old folks and villagers, blurred in my memory, have all vanished along with the peaceful past.
Tu Longjian walked to the ruins and used his spiritual energy to lift the broken tiles, revealing several grayish-blue limbs and severed arms.
Her gaze sharpened, and without making a sound, she put the broken tiles back on.
Feng Tianhe stood there stunned and stammered, "Sister, my mother's grave has also collapsed." His voice trembled.
Tu Longjian said in a deep voice, "I will help you find her."
