Chapter 29 The Country Bumpkin Got the Wrong Order

Chapter Thirty-Nine

Aunt Yu was tidying up Yan Shujin's clothes. When she made clothes for Yan Shujin, she specially made a few sets that were slightly larger, but not many. "I don't know what the Luo family is thinking. Maybe they are testing us, or maybe they are confused."

Yan Shujin said, "Auntie, can you sew me a doll?"

"What kind of clothes does the princess want?" Aunt Yu asked after hanging up the clothes. "I can make simple ones, and for complicated ones, I can find an embroiderer to make them for the princess."

Yan Shujin thought of what she had seen when she was a child, gestured and said, "I want one that I can hug to sleep with, something soft."

Aunt Yu thought for a moment and said, "We can just put some cotton inside."

Yan Shujin nodded. She didn't actually like these things very much, but she couldn't forget the feeling of envy she had when she saw other little girls holding them as a child: "I want the tiger one."

Aunt Yu said, "Have someone prepare a few more for the princess."

Yan Shujin touched her belly and sighed, "It's really good to have power."

Aunt Yu bent down and arranged Yan Shujin's shoes, saying, "Yes."

Yan Shujin said, "Actually, I don't need to care what they think. I just need to know what I want to achieve."

Aunt Yu listened quietly, because she felt that Yan Shujin needed someone to listen to her, as she had already made up her mind.

Yan Shujin changed her posture to make herself more comfortable. Actually, she had figured it out. No matter who it was, she didn't need to think about why those people did what they did. She only needed to think about what she wanted to get.

Because all she needed to care about were her uncle's and father's attitudes and opinions.

Yan Shujin asked, "So what do you think Uncle's attitude is towards the Luo family?"

Before her aunt could finish speaking, Yan Shujin added, "You don't need to answer."

Aunt Yu hesitated for a moment before saying, "The Emperor's mind is unfathomable."

Yan Shujin felt that Aunt Yu's answer was very cunning; such an answer was not wrong anywhere.

“But I know that no matter what it is, whether the outside world’s evaluation is right or wrong, as long as it is in line with the Emperor’s heart, it is right.” Aunt Yu’s voice was slow: “It is impossible for everyone to like you. It is enough for the princess to be liked by the most noble person.”

In that case, no matter how much dissatisfaction others may have, they can only endure it.

Yan Shujin said, "I understand, I'm going to sleep."

Aunt Yu lowered the bed curtains and tidied them up for her.

Although Yan Shujin closed her eyes, she didn't actually fall asleep. Instead, she thought about what had happened today. From Madam Qi to Li Yue, from Madam Qi's daughter to Cuilan, their identities were all different, but the results were all so bad. She would never let herself be so miserable.

After thinking for a while, Yan Shujin fell asleep. In her dream, she seemed to see Cuilan sitting in the courtyard, basking in the sun and sewing clothes for her. Cuilan had an ordinary appearance, but her smile was exceptionally warm.

The next day, Yan Shujin and Yan Qiyu went to the palace with Yan Zhili. Yan Zhili went to court, while the two siblings went directly to see Old Madam Yan.

Madam Yan had always adored the two siblings, and after not seeing them for several days, she kept calling them her precious darlings, wishing she could give them all the good things in the world.

When Chen Qiu brought the concubines from the harem to pay their respects to Old Madam Yan, Old Madam Yan was being amused by Yan Shujin and Yan Qiyu and couldn't stop laughing.

Madam Yan was too lazy to talk to her eldest son's concubines, so she kept only Chen Qiu and sent the rest away.

Chen Qiu was naturally delighted to see Yan Qiyu, and she transferred all her love for her son to Yan Qiyu: "Brother Gui looks a bit chubby."

Yan Qiyu was a little embarrassed: "My mother has someone make soup for me every day."

Chen Qiu said with a smile, "It's better to be a little chubby."

"I want to eat meat too." Old Madam Yan instructed, "Eat whatever meat you want, and have your father buy it for you."

Yan Qiyu said, "I know, Grandma, don't worry."

Chen Qiu asked, "Has Madam Wang arrived in the capital?"

Yan Shujin gave a brief account of Madam Wang's situation. Old Madam Yan said, "Life is hard for women after a divorce. You should take good care of her in the future. If it weren't for Madam Qi's kindness, none of us would be alive today. We cannot forget her kindness."

"What ingratitude?" Yan Chao and Yan Zhili entered just as they overheard Old Madam Yan's last words and asked, "What are you talking about?"

Yan Shujin called out with a grin, "Uncle, Father."

Yan Chao said, "Why haven't you come to see your uncle in so long? Don't you miss him?"

Yan Shujin moved closer to Yan Chao and said, "I miss Uncle so much. I'm learning to sew clothes with my aunt, and I'll make clothes for Uncle later."

"Okay." Yan Chao said happily, "Then I'll wait for Sister Bao to make me clothes."

Yan Shujin readily agreed.

Yan Zhili glanced at her daughter and asked, "Do I have one?"

"Yes, yes, I have them all," Yan Shujin said. "I'll wait until I learn them."

Yan Zhili was finally satisfied.

Yan Chao asked, "What did Mother just say about ingratitude?"

Old Madam Yan quickly recounted what had happened to Madam Wang: "From now on, you can't call her Madam Wang anymore; you have to call her Madam Qi."

Yan Chao looked at Yan Zhili.

Yan Zhili said, "Leave it to me."

Yan Chao agreed and had already written down Madam Qi's matter.

Yan Shujin sidled up to Yan Chao and said, "Uncle, let's discuss something."

Yan Chao raised an eyebrow and asked, "What is it?"

"I want to beat someone up." Yan Shujin angrily recounted what happened to Li Yue: "Luo Zhengyao is so shameless, I want to beat him up."
