Hehehehe~ See you in three days~ The rest are not quite right, and Liu Qin also knows that in a place like the capital, such a form of address is inappropriate.
Madam Wang said with a smile, "Actually, my surname is Qi, and my given name is Xiang."
Liu Qin thought for a moment and said, "Then I'll call you Sister Qi?"
Madam Qi smiled and said, "Then I'll shamelessly agree."
Yan Shujin looked at Madam Wang with some surprise, thought for a moment and said, "Then I'll call you Aunt Qi from now on?"
Madam Qi said, "Alright."
Yan Qiyu also called out "Aunt Qi".
Yan Shujin said, "I've heard that the food at Zhuqulou is delicious, but I haven't had a chance to try it. I specially ordered a table for us to taste together."
Madam Qi had actually sent someone to order a table of food, and upon hearing this, she instructed her maid, "Discuss with the restaurant whether they can send it tomorrow. If not, just send it over for you to share."
"Then my steward will go with us," Liu Qin said softly. "Even if it's just for no other reason, it's good to avoid trouble."
Madam Qi thanked them and won.
The maid bowed and then left.
Yan Shujin glanced at her and asked, "Aunt Qi, where is Sister Cuilan?"
Cuilan was Madam Qi's head maid. She had taken good care of Yan Shujin, and she even prepared a gift for Cuilan.
Madam Qi pursed her lips and said, "Cuilan is gone."
Gone?
Yan Shujin stared blankly at Madam Qi, wanting to ask what "no longer here" meant—was she no longer serving her, or...was she no longer alive?
Madam Qi, however, brought up other matters.
The food at Zhuqulou was delicious, but Yan Shujin had something on her mind and ate much less than usual. After finishing her meal and talking about spending money later, Liu Qin said, "Then I'll take my leave."
Madam Qi got up to see him off.
Yan Shujin said, "Mother, you take my brother back first, I'll go back by myself later."
Knowing that Yan Shujin and Madam Qi had a good relationship, Liu Qin said, "Alright, I'll have the driver come back to wait for you later."
Yan Shujin agreed.
After saying goodbye to Madam Qi, Yan Qiyu left with his mother.
Madam Qi led Yan Shujin back inside. The two didn't rush to talk. Madam Qi first arranged for her grandson to rest, then had tea and snacks served again before asking, "Does Baojie have something to ask me?"
“Yes,” Yan Shujin said, “Aunt Qi, you… got divorced?”
Madam Qi said, "Yes, now I have a powerful backer, and I don't need to live that kind of life anymore."
Yan Shujin also felt that Master Wang was not a good match for Madam Qi, and asked, "Then why is your grandson by your side?"
When her grandson was mentioned, Madam Qi sighed, looking much older: "My daughter had a difficult childbirth and passed away when the child was a little over a year old. It was a time of chaos, and I lived far away, so she couldn't even send a message."
Yan Shujin did not see Madam Qi's daughter, but she knew that Madam Qi had always been thinking about her, and that Madam Qi only had two children, both of whom are now gone.
Seeing Yan Shujin's expression, Madam Qi comforted her, saying, "It's all in the past now."
She found out almost three years after her daughter's death.
"Later, his father remarried. At first, he treated the child well, but she became pregnant not long after. Unfortunately, she miscarried in less than three months. He insisted that my grandson had pushed her down. How could such a small child, who couldn't even walk steadily, push an adult?" Madam Qi said calmly. "Later, she became pregnant again and gave birth to a boy. My grandson's life became difficult."
Yan Shujin frowned and said, "It really is true that having a stepmother means having a stepfather."
Madam Qi said, "That's exactly what happened. Luckily, there was a loyal old woman who saw that the family was really outrageous, so she secretly sent a message, and that's how I found out. That's when I took some people and went there."
Yan Shujin asked, "Where is Master Wang?"
Madam Qi said sarcastically, "How could he possibly care about a married daughter?"
Yan Shujin held Madam Qi's hand, unsure how to comfort her.
"Thanks to the letter from the Prince and the person he sent," Madam Qi said gratefully. "I used the Prince's name to get a divorce."
"It should have been done a long time ago," Yan Shujin said indignantly. "He's not good enough for you at all."
Madam Qi smiled and said, "I took people to my grandson's family and, with the help of your family, managed to get the child back."
Unfortunately, her daughter's grave could not be moved, and the child's surname could not be changed. That family... her daughter's death was inextricably linked to that family. After all, less than a hundred days after her daughter's death, that family had already remarried. It was probably something they had planned long ago, but she had no evidence.
Even though Yan Shujin is now a princess, Madam Qi has no intention of revealing these things. She knows Yan Shujin's personality; if she knew, she would stand up for her regardless of whether there was evidence or not. But that wouldn't be good for Yan Shujin. Once Yan Shujin's position is more stable... once she finds evidence, she will eventually avenge her daughter.
Yan Shujin didn't know what Madam Qi was thinking as she went so far away, only to be unable to see the mother and daughter: "Where is Cuilan?"
Cuilan...
Madam Qi closed her eyes and said, "I am sorry to Cuilan. At that time, I was distracted because of my daughter. When Cuilan's family came to pick her up, I asked her and they were indeed her parents. She was willing to go with them, so I gave her some money and gave her the dowry in advance, and then returned the indenture to her."
