Chapter 27 Something's Wrong

Liu Nian waved her hand: "Oh dear! Didn't I just say so in advance? Anyway, I'll be gone someday, so you all need to help each other. We're all family, so let's live well together, okay?"

"Sister will live to be a hundred years old. It's a bit early to say that now. Okay, let's eat!" Su Ke was a little flustered and just wanted to interrupt Liu Nian's words. He didn't like hearing them.

Liu Nian didn't say anything more, and the four of them ate their meal in silence.

After dinner, Liu Nian dropped the three boys off at the school gate, said goodbye to them, and drove straight home.

Gu Minhang looked at the two of them and asked, "Come to my student union office?"

The two nodded in agreement, and the three of them went to the student council office together.

With class about to start and nothing else to do, the student council usually doesn't have many students coming over. Gu Minhang opened the office door to let the two of them in and then closed it.

Feng Guiyu and Su Ke glanced at the office in unison; it was quite large, to be honest.

After finding a seat, Gu Minhang asked directly, "What are your opinions?" His direct question clearly referred to what Liu Nian had said earlier that day.

"Something's not right. It's like it's trying to tell us something," Feng Guiyu said, frowning and speaking from his intuition.

Su Ke nodded: "I think so too."

Gu Minhang pondered for a moment, then asked, "Over the years, has there been anything amiss in your interactions with Sister?"

Su Ke looked at him with a cold gaze: "What do you mean? You doubt that my sister is real?"

Gu Minhang gave him a cold glance: "What do you think?"

Su Ke instantly felt that his favorite person was being questioned, and he became annoyed. He was about to say something.

Feng Guiyu stopped him in time: "Su Ke, he probably meant to say that there has been anything wrong with the annual fortunes over the years."

Upon hearing this, Su Ke's face turned completely dark: "You actually took off your pants and farted!"

Feng Guiyu: "..." It seems he really didn't say anything!

Gu Minhang scoffed.

Feng Guiyu glared at him, somewhat speechless.

Gu Minhang looked at Su Ke and asked patiently, "What I mean is, over the years, do you think my sister has changed at all?"

Su Ke paused for a moment, thought for a while, and then said hesitantly, "From childhood to adulthood, every time I meet my sister, no matter how much time has passed, she has never changed at all."

Upon hearing this, Feng Guiyu slammed his hand on the table and chimed in, "That's right. Every time she comes back, although we rarely get along harmoniously, I've never seen any change in her expression."

Gu Minhang laughed: "My sister said she takes good care of herself, so it's normal that she hasn't changed."

Feng Guiyu and Su Ke exchanged a glance, and Su Ke's cold eyes showed some doubt: "My sister said almost the same thing to me."

Feng Guiyu: "She once said that she already knew our birth mother before we were even born. Think about it, how old was she then?"

Gu Minhang: "All told, it's been 16 years since they started raising us!" He then looked at Su Ke: "How old are you?"

Su Ke looked at him with some suspicion: "Almost 16."

Gu Minhang and Feng Guiyu exchanged a glance, and Su Ke instantly felt a chill run down his spine.

"Do you think it's possible for a woman who's almost forty years old not to have any changes in her appearance?" Feng Guiyu asked.

Su Ke was a little incredulous and remained silent.

Gu Minhang paused slightly as he tapped the table, thinking about the changes over the years, but he couldn't recall any changes at all.

“My older sister has always looked like this since I can remember.”

“Me too,” Feng Guiyu said.

The two looked at Su Ke at the same time, waiting for his answer.

Su Ke's cold eyes darkened, and he nodded helplessly: "Me too."

The three of them fell silent at the same time, because they all knew one thing: the appearance of time remained unchanged.

“I once jokingly said that my sister is like a fairy.” Gu Minhang lowered his eyes, his face gentle and tender. “Guess what she said.”

"..." Su Ke and Feng Guiyu remained silent.

Gu Minhang continued, "She said she was a fairy."

Upon hearing this, both of them were surprised: "Really?"

“It’s fake.” Gu Minhang narrowed his eyes and leaned back in his chair. “There was a hint of a joke in her tone at the time.”

Feng Guiyu: "Can you please finish your sentence?"

Gu Minhang remained silent.

Su Ke then asked, "Where did you live when you were little?"

Feng Guiyu asked in confusion, "Why are you asking this?"

Gu Minhang was also a little confused, but he still said, "I've lived in City B since kindergarten, so what?"

Su Ke then asked, "Do you remember how often your sister goes back to see you?"

Gu Minhang: "Every day." He did see Liu Nian every day back then.

Su Ke fell silent, his expression somewhat strange.

Feng Guiyu gave him a strange look and said, "In City C where I am, I see her coming back every day, except for the nanny."

Upon hearing this, Gu Minhang's expression changed.

Do you know how far apart City B and City C are?

Feng Guiyu: "It should only take a little over an hour by plane!" He paused after saying that, looking at Gu Minhang in disbelief, then at Su Ke: "What do you mean?!" He had some answers that were about to come out, but he couldn't believe them.

Su Ke looked up at the ceiling and said softly, "In City A where I live, from childhood to adulthood, before we moved to Kyoto, I spent every day with my sister."

“Every time my sister comes back, she either stays for half a day or for an hour or two, usually around noon or in the evening. She rarely stays with me,” Gu Minhang said with some difficulty.
