Chapter 42 Grandfather

As she spoke, she looked at him reproachfully, her expression slightly aggrieved.

Unable to resist, Gu Minhang pinched her cheek: "It's alright, Grandfather won't mind."

Along the way, she also saw many kinds of fruit, which surprised her.

"You grow so much fruit at home!"

"If you like, we can pick some of each kind later."

Liu Nian was astonished! This guy must be the son of a landlord!

"You sell fruit too? Do you do wholesale? Do you have someone come to collect it?"

Considering that she still didn't know what his family did, Liu Nian wanted to take this opportunity to find out.

"Gu, what does your family do?"

Gu Minhang said helplessly, "The family business is quite extensive. You can learn more about it in the future. This orchard was planted by my grandfather in his spare time. There are also many servants in the family. After finishing their work, they would plant with my grandfather. They plant some every year, and over time it has become such a large orchard."

“Every harvest season, my grandfather would have the servants pick the fruit themselves so that his family could have a taste; he didn’t do wholesale.”

Liu Nian nodded in understanding.

But there are just too many kinds! Looking around, there are dozens of varieties. Just counting grapevines, she saw more than a dozen, and they were all different kinds.

It's good to be rich; they can provide for anyone.

Gu Minhang led her for about twenty minutes before they finally saw a lake.

From afar, I could see an old man sitting quietly by the lake, with a small parasol over his head.

It rained today, and the sun didn't come out, so the weather was pretty good, just the right temperature.

Only after the two of them walked in did the old man turn around to look at them.

He was slightly taken aback when he saw Liu Nian standing next to Gu Minhang, but quickly regained his composure.

He said kindly, "Why did you come over here? There are a lot of mosquitoes here."

Gu Minhang and Liu Nian were both wearing short sleeves and shorts, so they were bound to get bitten by insects in the wild.

Liu Nian didn't miss the old man's fleeting moment of confusion, and she silently asked the system with some doubt.

"System, are you sure there were no problems with my teleportation?"

The system confidently replied, "Confirmed."

Liu Nian was relieved.

Gu Minhang led her to the old man's side and introduced her to him.

"Grandfather, this is my classmate, Liu Nian."

“Nian Nian, this is Grandfather.”

Liu Nian stammered a little nervously.

"Hello!...Grandfather!" Is it alright for her to call him Grandfather like Gu Minhang?

"Good, good, good, the little girl is so pretty."

Liu Nian blushed slightly.

Gu Minhang took out two small stools from a box under the parasol and gestured for Liu Nian to sit down.

Liu Nian didn't stand on ceremony and went over to sit down.

Gu Minhang took out another fishing rod and some fish bait; he was also ready to fish.

"Young man, you're not even going to eat the fish if you prepare it like this," his grandfather, sitting beside him, reminded him as he watched him carelessly prepare the bait.

Gu Minhang didn't say anything, just shoveled some bait onto the hook and cast the line.

"Hmph! Those who don't heed the advice of their elders will suffer the consequences."

The old man hummed softly, almost like a child.

Liu Nian thought that Gu Minhang's gentleness after losing his parents was indeed thanks to his grandfather.

With such an adorable and playful old man by your side, how boring could your life possibly be?

After sitting quietly for a few minutes, Gu Minhang's fishing rod began to sway.

A smile appeared on his handsome face as he pulled the line back up with a strong pull.

Liu Nian subconsciously looked at her grandfather.

His fishing rod remained motionless, and he looked somewhat astonished when he saw his grandson catch something so quickly.

"grandfather."

Gu Minhang held a grass carp weighing three or four pounds in his hand, shook it proudly, and exclaimed, "It's really heavy."

Liu Nian couldn't help but chuckle, thinking that Gu Minhang was being a bit childish at this moment, actually showing off to his grandfather.

Sure enough, the old man seemed a bit sullen, not even glancing at the fish in his hand. At that moment, his fishing rod twitched, but then stopped moving again.

"Look at you, you scared my fish away with your words."

Gu Minhang: "..."

Liu Nian: "..." Help! Why do I find my grandfather so adorable!

Looking at Liu Nian, who had been sitting quietly, he shook the fish in his hand: "Nian Nian, we can have an extra meal tonight."

As Gu Minhang spoke, he put the fish into the small bucket.

It was obvious from time to time that the old man's complexion had darkened a little more.

She winked at Gu Minhang, signaling him to shut up.

The latter looked at her innocently and obediently shut up.

"Looks like I'm getting old! Even fish are picking at the bait these days." He said, putting away his fishing rod. "Little girl, this fish is definitely brainless. Tonight, Grandpa will give you a big crab. We won't eat that fish; it's contagious."

Liu Nian struggled to suppress her laughter. She nodded and said in a trembling voice, "Okay." She seemed about to burst out laughing.

Gu Minhang also put away his fishing rod, looking at Liu Nian with a wronged expression: "Year after year."

Liu Nian didn't look at him; instead, he went over to help the old man.

"Grandfather, let me help you back."

"Girls are more caring than boys, who are not filial at all."

Gu Minhang followed silently behind, without arguing.

Liu Nian thinks the old man is a master of empty talk.

The atmosphere was great, and she felt less nervous and more relaxed.

In the evening, Gu Minhang steamed the fish he caught that day, and Liu Nian also saw giant crabs, as well as many other delicious dishes.

Silently, I asked the system, "I forgot my digestive pills today. Do you think it'll be okay if I save one point?"
