Chapter 59 A hug will make it stop hurting

If the system says five hours, then it means five hours.

Liu Nian really did wake up after sleeping for five hours.

All I could see was a vast expanse of white, with walls painted white everywhere.

She wanted to raise her hand to rub her eyes, but suddenly felt some weight on her hand. Looking down, she saw Gu Minhang staring sadly out the window. She wondered what he was thinking about and why he had such an expression.

"Gu Minhang..." Liu Nian was shocked when she heard her first words! Such a weak voice came from her mouth!

Hearing the sound, Gu Minhang suddenly came to his senses. When he saw that Liu Nian had woken up, his eyes lit up, and he excitedly bent down and hugged her.

A moment later, Liu Nian suddenly felt a dampness on the back of her neck, and she was stunned.

Is Gu Minhang crying?

Thinking of this, she slowly reached out and placed her hands on his back. Gently, she patted his back again and again.

She said nothing, but quietly comforted him and soothed his uneasy emotions.

A few minutes later, Gu Minhang turned his head and kissed Liu Nian's ear, his deep, hoarse voice conveying his fear.

"Nian Nian, please don't let anything happen without my knowledge, okay?"

Liu Nian didn't say anything because she wasn't sure if the disease was implanted in the system and could recur at any time.

She cupped his face in her hands, a smile spreading across her pale face: "Today was an accident. I don't know why, but after I fell asleep, I woke up here."

Gu Minhang's eyes were still red. Looking into Liu Nian's eyes, his gaze became gloomy and somber, as if conveying his sorrow and pain to her.

Liu Nian was taken aback by his gloomy expression, unable to understand why there was such sadness and pain in his eyes, as if he had experienced a separation from his lover.

This is not right.

"System, are you sure your previous detection didn't contain any errors?"

System: "No error!"

That's strange!

"Gu, I'm fine, don't be sad."

Gu Minhang remained silent, simply gazing at her, the sorrow lingering around him.

Liu Nian felt a pang of sympathy. She didn't know what Gu Minhang had gone through or why he was like this, but she couldn't bear to see him unhappy. It would break her heart and make her unhappy too.

"Actually, I'm not feeling well. Can you hug me, brother?"

Sure enough, as soon as she said she wasn't feeling well, Gu Minhang got nervous: "Where do you feel unwell?"

Liu Nian stretched out her hand and pointed to her heart: "Here."

"Heart pain?" Gu Minhang was slightly taken aback.

"A hug will make it feel better." After saying that, Liu Nian reached out and hugged his waist.

She was trying to comfort him!

Gu Minhang couldn't quite describe his feelings; he was both happy and sad.

He held her tightly, wishing he could merge her into his own body.

"Is there anything else that's bothering you?"

Liu Nian shook her head in his arms: "No, can we go home now?" Her tone was expectant.

Gu Minhang originally didn't want Liu Nian to be discharged from the hospital. He wanted Liu Nian to stay in the hospital for observation, but Liu Nian didn't like staying in the hospital. So, he had to take Liu Nian for another full-body check-up before leaving the hospital.

Back home, Liu Nian just stayed on the sofa. Gu Minhang didn't know what he was doing in the study; he went straight there after arriving home and hadn't come out yet.

"System, I've discovered that the disease you implanted is completely incurable by hospitals."

System: "That's why it's called a terminal illness!"

Liu Nian: "At this rate, will I have to run away before three years are up?"

System: "Don't worry, host, it will be three years."

In the quiet study, where you could hear a pin drop, Gu Minhang sat in front of the computer with a terrible expression. Even his eyes, which rarely showed his emotions, were filled with a thin layer of sadness.

Since he returned, he has been investigating the possible causes of illnesses he might get this year. He didn't do the investigation himself, and he even spent a lot of money to ask others to do it. One message after another came in, but none of them were things he had never heard of before.

He leaned back in his chair, his gaze fixed on the bright light above him, while his world, from this day forward, slowly grew dimmer and dimmer.

Why did God treat him like this? Why did He give him this life, only to take away the person he was meant to protect?

In his past life, he carefully hid his feelings for Liu Nian, only to regret it when he lost her, a regret that would last a lifetime.

His greatest wish before his death was that in his next life, he and Liu Nian would be together, not as siblings, but as husband and wife.

But fate seemed to love playing tricks on him, giving him this life but not wanting him to have her.

His gaze wandered, looking out the study window, his thoughts drifting.

He was able to recall his past life on Liu Nian's birthday. While he was setting up the venue, many images suddenly flashed through his mind. These were images he had never experienced, yet they felt incredibly familiar to him. It wasn't until he saw Liu Nian that he suddenly realized what was happening.

Those memories were from his past life.

In that instant, he longed to see Liu Nian and marry her immediately. At the same time, he was grateful that he and Liu Nian could meet again in this life, and he was also grateful that they were not like siblings in the previous life. In this life, Liu Nian was his fiancée and his future wife.

At that moment, he was so eager to marry Liu Nian on the spot, but he couldn't do that, as it would scare her away. So he decided to settle for second best and propose first.

Liu Nian agreed, thinking his happiness would last forever. He believed that God had blessed him, given him this life, and sent his lover to his side.
