Chapter 33: Isolde the Witch

The weather was very good this morning. Mingyue moved the pots and pans to the yard and prepared to make candy here.

Mingyue also plans to use the fruits we used to make drinks yesterday to make some mist berry gummies and sweet dream candies with mist berries and sweet dream leaves.

Mingyue began to make the syrup, adding the mist berries and dream leaves into two pots separately, and simmering them slowly over low heat until the syrup became thick and golden.

As the syrup churns, a sweet aroma fills the air, attracting critters from around the hostel.

Mingyue gently stirred the syrup with a wooden spoon to ensure that it was heated evenly. Once the preparation was complete, she poured the sugar cubes onto wax paper and waited for the syrup to cool before cutting it into small pieces.

The cooled candies sparkled in the sunlight, looking like gemstones.

Just then, a black crow was attracted by the sparkling candy.

It quietly landed on the fence of the yard, its black bean-like eyes fixed on the black sugar cubes. Its eyes rolled around, as if it was thinking of something.

Considering the presence of the bright moon, the crow first flew slowly to the side of the bright moon, and then walked back and forth on the ground, pretending to be taking a walk.

The crow was just taking a walk, definitely not looking for an opportunity to steal candy! (?????)

As the crow walked, it got closer and closer to the bright moon.

Mingyue quickly noticed the crow's intention. Looking at the clever performance of the crow next to her, she smiled, took a few candies, put them on the ground, and pushed them in the direction of the crow.

"These are for you, but these are candies, not gems."

The crow tilted its head, jumped forward, pecked at the candy in front of it, and then found that these were not hard gems, but the sweetness of the candy made it very happy. It made a series of happy calls, held a few candies in its mouth and flew away.

"You really look like a witch." A voice sounded beside her. Isolde, who had not been out for a long time, stood behind Mingyue and watched for an unknown period of time.

"Magic, crow, the way you make syrup is no different from a witch's potion, but compared to a witch, you are the one favored by fate." Isolde said with some jealousy.

Isolde had lived in the inn for so long and found that the innkeeper had no intention of paying attention to her. The witch, who was used to being feared or admired, was suddenly ignored and felt inexplicably unhappy. So she walked out of the room for the first time since she checked in and prepared to visit the innkeeper.

As a proud witch, Isolde would never admit that she had very few gold coins left in her pocket and would soon be unable to pay for the room for the next few days.

Even the greatest witch had to face reality, so Isolde finally walked out of the room.

Mingyue nodded to Isolde and pointed to the candy on the table: "Good morning, Isolde, would you like some candy?"

"No," Isolde refused.

"Oh well."

Mingyue didn't say anything, and continued to pack the candies into bags, label them, and then arrange them one by one and put them in the basket.

The two of them remained silent until Isolde couldn't stand it anymore and took the initiative to ask, "Is there anything you can do here?"

She still couldn't honestly say that she was broke and wanted a job, so after thinking about it, she finally found a reason.

"My friend told me I could find the answer here. I don't think I'll get anywhere if I just stay in my room, so I wanted to ask if you need any help."

Isolde thought this was a good reason, as it was the reason she came to the hotel in the first place.

Feeling Mingyue's gaze on her, Isolde unconsciously straightened her back.

"Hmm... In that case, are you interested in haunted houses?"

"Huh? A haunted house?"

Before coming here, Isolde had imagined many things, such as she could help brew potions, or open a shop selling various witch products like before, or a divination shop, but she thought of a lot, but the only thing she had never thought of was a haunted house.

"Human, are you making fun of me?!"

Isolde thought Mingyue was making fun of her. The witch became furious and grabbed her wand, ready to teach this human who looked down on her a lesson.

Mingyue was very calm, "I am serious, come on, I'll take you to see it."

After the new beverage product conference yesterday, Mingyue felt a little full, so she simply started to build a haunted house. After walking around, Mingyue chose a dead tree forest 20 minutes' walk from the hotel.

The combination of an abandoned wooden house in a dead forest creates a sense of story and horror.

In order to make the abandoned feeling more obvious, Mingyue deliberately made the wooden house look shabby.

Isolde looked at the ordinary house in front of her, very confused: "You want tourists to come to a haunted house? But there are no ghosts in this house."

Mingyue explained to her, "Of course there are no ghosts here. The haunted house isn't really a haunted house, but a type of amusement facility. A haunted house is a type of amusement facility with some horror elements. Some tourists seek excitement, so they enjoy adventures in haunted houses. I plan to combine a haunted house with a chamber of evasion. I'll have two routes: one is the Screaming Road, which focuses on horror, and the other is the Haunted House Escape, which focuses on puzzle solving."

Seeing that Isolde still looked confused, Mingyue simply used magic to conjure up a few little people to demonstrate to Isolde.

Seeing the little man running around and screaming loudly because of all the small props and sounds, Isolde suddenly felt happy for some reason.

This was a great way to get back at the humans, she thought.

Let them be frightened, let them scream, and Isolde will watch these little people running around in the haunted house like a manipulator!
