Chapter 178: Sordid Deeds
After leaving the pig farm, Ye Qingbai drove straight to the city.
Xiguan Hutong is the most bustling residential area in Bincheng. Once you arrive here, you'll find a lot more shops and stalls.
The foot traffic is also high.
The car stopped at the entrance of the alley and couldn't go any further.
Ye Qingbai asked Lu Ye, "Brother Ye, shall we go straight to Li Li's parents' house?"
"We don't have a reasonable reason, and going in directly might alert them."
After all, they had both met Li Li and Li Bin.
Lu Ye meant that even if they went to Li Li's mother's house, they should let a stranger go in first to scout the way.
So Ye Qingbai paged one of his brothers and called him over.
Tell him to go into the alley and ask who has a house for sale.
The man who came was named Zhang Hu, Ye Qingbai's junior high school classmate, and the two were very close.
"Brother Ye, you want to buy a house?" Zhang Hu smiled, revealing a set of big white teeth. "Brother Ye, that's good. You're doing well in the army."
"It's not me buying the house." Ye Qingbai gestured to Lu Ye and explained to Zhang Hu, "It's my friend who wants to buy property in Bincheng."
Lu Ye nodded slightly and handed Zhang Hu a pack of cigarettes, asking him to help him more.
Zhang Hu took the cigarette and said with a smile, "So this is the gentleman who wants to buy property. How can I help?"
Ye Qingbai explained, "Tiger, Ye Ge and I have already inquired around. They all hold firm on prices when they hear that outsiders are buying property. Go and ask around. I heard there's a family named Li Bin who wants to sell their house. Go and find out which family it is, and be careful when you go in. Take a good look at what's going on with them."
Zhang Hu was very proactive and enthusiastic about helping with this small matter.

The two of them waited in their car by the roadside.

He said, "Brother Ye, you've got it wrong. Li Bin and his wife said they're not selling their house."

Zhang Hu said, "The woman was heavily pregnant, and the man looked like he was going to be bullied. I asked them a question, and they said the house wasn't for sale, so I left."
"Are there any other people in the family?" Ye Qingbai asked again.
“I didn’t see it.” Zhang Hu scratched his head. “However, I heard an old woman coughing inside the house, the sickly kind.”
"Oh, then we must have misheard."
Ye Qingbai and Lu Ye exchanged a glance.
Even Zhang Hu mistook them for a couple, which is enough to show how outrageous the behavior of that adulterous couple was.
Did they start living together right away?
"Tiger, thank you for your help. I'll treat you to drinks later. You can go ahead and do your work."
"Okay, let's drink another day then."
Zhang Hu ran a bicycle repair shop nearby. Since there was nothing to do at the moment, he rode his bicycle away.
After everyone left, Ye Qingbai's expression turned serious, and he was filled with distress. "Brother Ye, what do you think we should do now? Should we just talk to my uncle? I really can't stand it anymore."
Lu Ye narrowed his eyes slightly, looking out the car window, and said calmly, "They might not believe it even if I tell them."

Ye Qingbai sighed, "We've met them before, but we can't get in."
I'm unwilling to leave, but I can't go back in.
I stayed in the car for almost half an hour.
"Maybe we should go back and think of something else," Ye Qingbai said, preparing to start the car.
This can't go on forever.
Go back, eat something, and think it over carefully.
Just as the car was about to start, Lu Ye caught a glimpse of two familiar figures emerging from the alley.
He pulled Ye Qingbai aside, signaling him to turn off the engine and lie down.
Li Bin supported Li Li's arm, and the two of them left the alley.
Li Bin looked menacing, and the middle-aged women in the alley who brushed past them avoided them as if they were plague carriers.
It was clear that Li Li seemed to resist Li Bin's touch, but dared not openly refuse.
After they exited the alley, the two slowly sat up, and Ye Qingbai asked, "Should we follow them?"
“No,” Lu Ye said, “Li Li is carrying a bag; it looks like they’ve already gone far away and won’t be back for a while.”
"Have you met Li Li's other family members?" he asked Ye Qingbai.
Ye Qingbai shook his head, "I didn't see their wedding day. There were too many guests. I heard from my uncle that my mother-in-law was not in good health, but I didn't pay attention to who it was. She probably didn't pay attention to me either."
"That's good." Lu Ye quickly got out of the car. "Let's go, let's go see Li Bin's house."
When the two arrived at Li Bin's house, the green iron gate with peeling paint was tightly closed.
Ye Qingbai knocked on the door.
As it turned out, the iron gate wasn't locked, and it opened with a push.
Is anyone home?
His response was a sickly cough coming from inside the house.
So the two of them simply went inside.
A woman in her fifties was lying on a wooden bed when she saw two men suddenly enter. Her already pale face turned pale with fright. "Who are you looking for?"
"Hello, Auntie, we're here looking for a house. Do you sell this house?" Ye Qingbai asked politely.
The woman on the bed shook her head. "Young man, we're renting this house; we can't sell it."
"Oh, it's rented." This auntie was quite honest.
Ye Qingbai then exchanged pleasantries with her, "Auntie, you're so sick, aren't your children home?"
"He just went out."
How many children do you have?
I only have one daughter.
"Auntie, didn't your daughter take you to see a doctor?" Ye Qingbai was very puzzled. His mother was so sick, and that woman Li Li didn't even know to take her to see a doctor.
"My illness is incurable." The aunt lay back down on the bed, her voice weak and feeble. "We can't sell the house. Please go out and close the door behind you."
After they came out, the two quickly returned to the car.
Ye Qingbai stroked his chin and analyzed, "Brother Ye, do you think this old lady knows about her daughter's filthy affair with her stepson?"
"It's hard to say."
Li Li's mother looked quite kind and didn't seem like someone who would collude with them.
That day, the two of them were staking out near the alley, eating bread in their car when they got hungry.
About two hours later, Li Bin and Li Li reappeared in their sight.
Li Li was still being supported by Li Bin.
They seem to be very close.
When they reached the alley entrance, Li Li began to resist Li Bin's touch, but she still couldn't break free from him.
Li Bin saw the Santana parked on the side of the road across the alley from afar, leaned close to Li Li's ear, and whispered something.
Li Li's face was furrowed as she let him pull her into the alley.
"Let's go back," Lu Ye said. "We'll continue tomorrow. Remember to bring your camera."
Ye Qingbai understood and slapped his thigh, "That's right, what's the use of just following them? We need to gather evidence."
