Chapter 5: I Can Cure

Chapter 5: I Can Cure

The man in the hospital gown broke free of his cage like a mad beast. He rushed out, clutching his chest, his hands and the hospital gown on his chest covered in blood, a shocking sight.

Bai Zhi reacted quickly and grabbed his waist.

But he forcefully shoved her away, and her forehead hit the door frame.

The people who followed behind saw the strange woman appear there and hesitated for a moment before quickly restraining Lu Ye without asking any questions.

After Lu Ye was dragged back to her bed by the two doctors, Lu Shan looked at the girl with a slight cut on her forehead and asked warily, "Who are you? How did you get in?"

"She is Bai Zhi." Lu Zheng'an was also surprised that Bai Zhi would come to the hospital. His expression was stern, and he exuded a powerful aura of pressure. He narrowed his eyes and questioned, "You followed me?"

Bai Zhi straightened up, tilted her head slightly, and met Lu Zheng'an's sharp eyes. Her expression was full of worry as she explained, "Uncle Lu, I'm sorry. I heard you say on the phone that Lu Ye's condition was serious in the hospital. Out of curiosity and concern, I followed you here. Please forgive my rudeness."

Hmm? Lu Zheng'an narrowed his eyes and fell into deep thought.

Did he mention Lu Ye's name when he answered the phone at home just now?

Bai Zhi quickly said, "Don't worry, Grandpa is asleep. I came out by myself."

"Old Lu, come here quickly."

Dr. Li had no other choice but to administer a sedative, "depending on the situation, but it won't last long."

Lu Zheng'an ignored Bai Zhi and rushed into the ward.

Bai Zhi followed in, her voice clear and elegant, "I've studied traditional Chinese medicine, and judging from this situation, Comrade Lu Ye probably has several potent hallucinogens in his body."

"Hallucinogens?" The people in the ward looked at her in astonishment.

“That’s right, judging from his complexion and the symptoms he just exhibited, that’s certainly the case.” Bai Zhi asked them, “Has he been to Yuncheng recently?”

Lu Shan looked at Lu Zheng'an, her eyes asking if her father had revealed anything.

Lu Zheng'an shook his head with a sullen face.

Dr. Li, who was at a loss, became interested and said, "Miss, could you please tell me in detail?"

They naturally knew that Lu Ye had been injected with that drug. Other comrades who had gone there on missions before had also experienced the same symptoms upon their return, but they died before they could receive treatment.

Bai Zhi just said that Lu Ye has several kinds of things in his body?

That would be terrible!

Bai Zhi said, "My maternal grandfather has studied this area. I heard that in the past two years, criminals in Yuncheng have been using professional methods to extract the essence of various hallucinogenic herbs, mix them together and then make potent hallucinogens for huge profits. However, they should not have entered the mainland market yet. Comrade Lu Ye is probably being used as a live target for their experiments."

Bai Zhi added with a serious expression, "General medical methods cannot detect the detailed components."

After listening to Bai Zhi's explanation, Lu Zheng'an and his family looked at her with disbelief.

How could a country girl like her know these things?

Who exactly is she?

Dr. Li and Dr. Yang, however, seemed to have a new perspective and said they wanted to have the examination repeated.

Bai Zhi glanced at the man on the hospital bed, whose eyes were vacant and whose body was trembling, and suggested, "His condition is urgent right now. Let me give him acupuncture first, and we can talk in detail after he's under control, okay?"

As Lu Ye's attending surgeon and his sister, Lu Shan was the first to stand up and object, "No, how can you just give him needles randomly? Do you know what you're saying? This isn't your rural area where you can go to a quack doctor for treatment when you're sick."

Bai Zhi said, "I'm right here. If anything goes wrong, you can hand me over to the police and charge me with murder."

Lu Shan: "If something really happens, your life won't be enough to compensate him!"

Bai Zhi: "..." Unable to refute.

"Young lady, may I ask which TCM college you graduated from? Who did you study under? Where did you get this information?" The older Dr. Li looked at her with unwavering hope and asked probing questions.

They are specialists in this field and know more about the situation in Yuncheng than the average person.

Although Bai Zhi's statement has not been verified, its general direction is correct.

Bai Zhi replied, "My maternal grandfather is Ye Rufeng, the old master of Derentang in Bincheng. The Ye family has been practicing medicine for generations, and his ancestors were imperial physicians. You can find out this information as soon as you ask around."

Lu Ye's mother, Xie Yun, looked at Bai Zhi with surprise and suspicion, "You said your maternal grandfather was from Bincheng?"

Bai Zhi said with certainty, "That's right, my mother's name is Ye Peilan, and she was an educated youth sent to the countryside. My grandfather Lu knows this."

"Bincheng Derentang?" Lu Shan asked the two authoritative doctors, "Director Li, have you heard of it?"

Dr. Yang hesitated for a few seconds before speaking, "Bincheng Derentang is very famous, and the doctor's surname is indeed Ye, but I don't know the specifics."

Seeing that Lu Ye's condition was becoming increasingly critical, he was tied to the bed, his body trembling, as if he were very cold, his teeth chattering, and painful roars coming from his throat.

It's really upsetting.

Bai Zhi looked at him, feeling very uncomfortable, not to mention his parents.

“I’ll give him acupuncture first to calm him down, then we can talk about other things. If this continues, he’ll bite his tongue.”

Bai Zhi's tone was almost pleading, "Everyone keep an eye on things. If anything happens to Lu Ye, I'll stop immediately. I promise there won't be any problems. This is too dangerous."

Bai Zhi's slip of the tongue plunged Lu Zheng'an and Xie Yunxin into despair.

Dr. Li agrees to use angelica acupuncture, but you still need to consult Lu Ye's family.

After much difficulty, Lu Zheng'an finally made a decision: "Let's try acupuncture and see if it can alleviate the symptoms."

He had heard his grandfather mention it before; Bai Zhi's biological mother was indeed an educated youth sent to the countryside.

Angelica dahurica is unlikely to lie.

Although I had some doubts about her medical skills, there was really no better way at the moment.

They keep an eye on things and will intervene immediately if anything goes wrong.

Lu Shan's expression was serious as she objected, "Dad, we can't take the risk."

Lu Zheng'an gestured for her to be quiet.

Lu Shan's face darkened, and she could only remain silent.

With the silver needles in her hand, Bai Zhi immediately stepped forward after receiving Lu Zheng'an's permission.

Lu Ye was still having an attack. Beads of sweat dripped from his resolute face, his eyes grew increasingly bloodshot, his lips were tightly pressed together, and his body trembled slightly even though he was bound.

She slowly approached him with the silver needles, gently encouraging him.

"Don't be nervous, it will be over soon."

The man's eyes were empty. When he saw the blood seeping from her fair skin, he gritted his teeth, wanting to say something, but his teeth chattered and he couldn't speak.
