Chapter 677: A Benefactor's Help

Chapter 677: A Benefactor's Help

Bai Zhi insisted on taking Liu Guifang home to her family compound. Liu Guifang couldn't refuse, so she reluctantly got on the motorcycle. All the way, she kept nagging, saying that she was sorry for troubling Bai Zhi so much.

I kept thanking Bai Zhi for her kind help.

Liu Guifang deeply appreciated the true value of the saying "a benefactor helps you".

She used to think about making money all the time, but she always struggled to find a way.

In addition, having been out of touch with society for too long, I simply don't have the courage to take the first step, not even the courage to go out and look for a job, always feeling that I will be looked down upon by others.

Ever since Bai Zhi came to the family compound, seeing her young and promising career and her energetic pursuit of success, even Liu Guifang's heart has been stirred.

With Bai Zhi's encouragement, she was able to muster the courage to make food.

Once she took that first step, she found it wasn't that difficult.

Although the weather in April is already quite warm, it's still a bit cold to ride a motorcycle around 6 p.m.

Bai Zhi rode slowly, and the two of them didn't get home until 7:15.

Bai Zhi parked the motorcycle in the family compound, and the two went home separately.

"Sister-in-law, I'm going upstairs now. Call me when you come out."

Liu Guifang responded, "Okay, Xiaozhi, I'll come and get you."

When Bai Zhi got home and opened the door, the house was pitch black.

She turned on the light and looked at the cold, empty house, a sense of loneliness rising within her.

Lu Ye hasn't come back for the past few days, and she hasn't stayed here either, so the house has suddenly become quiet and deserted, without any human presence.

She found two pieces of clothing in the closet and changed out of the outfit she was wearing. She originally wanted to put them in the washing machine, but time was tight and she was afraid she wouldn't have time to wash them.

I can only put it in the bathroom for now and wash it next time I come back.

Then I checked the plumbing and electrical systems in the house again.

After finishing tidying up, she sat and waited for Liu Guifang to call her.

She thought it would take a long time for Liu Guifang to get home, but to her surprise, she heard Liu Guifang calling her from downstairs in just over ten minutes.

Bai Zhi picked up the bag containing the clothes, locked the door, and went downstairs. As she passed by Wang Yumei's house, she smelled a strong aroma of Chinese herbal medicine.

It looks like Wang Yumei's family is brewing traditional Chinese medicine.

She glanced at their front door, puzzled. Hadn't she taken Wang Yumei's pulse before?

It's not a big problem.

Is Wang Yumei drinking herbal medicine again?

I've already said that men should get checked out; constantly messing with your own body might backfire.

Bai Zhi wasn't that close to Wang Yumei, and she just thought to herself as she quickly went downstairs. She saw Liu Guifang already waiting for her downstairs in the family compound.

"Sister-in-law, why are you here so fast? Have Xiao Kai and the others eaten yet?" Bai Zhi asked him.

"They've already eaten. The father and son are having a good time."

Liu Guifang's tone was sarcastic, with a hint of inexplicable disappointment.

Bai Zhi's expression became subtle upon seeing this.

Liu Guifang sighed heavily.

She thought that if she didn't go home, the father and son would definitely not have anything to eat.

So she was so worried that she couldn't stay still and ran home late at night to check on things.

To her disbelief, when she returned home, Yang Kai had made oil-splashed noodles, cucumber salad, and stir-fried chili peppers. When she went in, the father and son were watching TV and enjoying their meal.

The house wasn't as dirty and messy as she had imagined; it was very clean.

When she returned, neither of them showed any surprise or anticipation.

I simply asked her why she came back at this hour.

She said she was worried about them, afraid they wouldn't have enough to eat. Yang Kai replied, "Mom, what's there to worry about? It's just cooking. Anyone can do that. I told you, you don't need to worry about me. With me here, I'll make sure Dad doesn't go hungry. You can just focus on your stall."

Originally, Instructor Yang was also very angry that she was never home. But after he went home and ate the delicious meal his son had prepared, and the house was also cleaned up neatly by his son, his anger subsided.

So he supported Liu Guifang, saying, "You go ahead and do your thing. You don't need to take care of the family. My son and I can manage."

Liu Guifang felt very upset when she thought of what Lao Yang had said.

Does that mean they won't need her anymore?

So, all along, she wasn't actually that important in that family?

Liu Guifang asked Bai Zhi, "Xiao Zhi, I should be happy to see that the father and son can live independently, but why do I feel so lost?"

I felt worthless and had no sense of existence in this family.

Bai Zhi said, "Sister-in-law, you feel lost because you've put all your focus into your family. Your family is your everything. Once your family no longer needs you, you'll feel worthless and definitely feel lost and sad. I bet you're not only lost, but also very insecure."

"You can see it too, our son has grown up. Instructor Yang is busy in the army all day long, so there isn't much for you to do at home. You should focus more on yourself, otherwise you'll feel even emptier and more uncomfortable when you're alone at home."

Liu Guifang nodded, "You're right. It's because I've devoted all my energy to my family for so many years that I can't accept the gap now that I've found they don't need me as much."

"So, people need to have their own things to do. Congratulations, you now have your own career, and you can focus on making money from now on."

Liu Guifang sighed, "But I just don't feel right."

Hearing Liu Guifang's words, Bai Zhi smiled and said, "Sister-in-law, you're just destined to worry. Before you came home, you were worried that they wouldn't have enough to eat. Now that you see that the father and son aren't hungry at all, you feel disappointed. You want them to live well, but you're also afraid that they'll be too independent and that the family won't need you."

This is the result of a woman devoting all her energy to her family.

Her family is her everything, and she can't accept the fact that they can live well even when she's not home.

“Xiao Kai will have to be independent sooner or later. He will go to college, get married and move out to live on his own. You have to get used to it now.”

Liu Guifang agreed with Bai Zhi's statement, "Yes, I have to learn to let go now. I need to work hard on my own things and enrich my life."

"Sister-in-law, I'm actually quite envious of you. Look how sensible your son, Xiao Kai, is. He unconditionally supports your career and even learned to cook so you wouldn't worry about the family. He's even taking care of his dad." Bai Zhi said with a smile. "Instructor Yang is also a very good person. He says he doesn't want you to set up a stall, but he actually supports you. He's just worried that you'll work too hard."

Liu Guifang agreed with Bai Zhi's words, her face beaming with happiness, "Yes, the father and son are quite good."

Although Lao Yang seems domineering, he will ultimately respect her wishes.

Liu Guifang deeply felt that the reason why Lao Yang was not very daring to discipline her now was largely because she had her son to back her up.

Xiao Kai, a teenager, stood up for her and supported her, so Lao Yang had no choice but to compromise for his son's sake.

Thinking of this, Liu Guifang looked at Bai Zhi and started the labor-inducing mode again.

"Xiaozhi, you should have a baby soon. Let me tell you, we women only have confidence and a sense of security in marriage when we have children."

Bai Zhi tied the bag of clothes to the back of the motorcycle and said, "Sister-in-law, don't worry about me. I don't need a child to give me confidence and security. It's not too late to have another child after I'm ready to be a mother."

Bai Zhi rode her motorcycle and took Liu Guifang back to the county town.

As soon as she got back, Liu Guifang went back to her little house to catch up on sleep, saying that she would get up at four in the morning to steam liangpi (cold skin noodles).
