Chapter 704: The Impatient Man
Bai Zhi ran into Zhou Jianmin as soon as she arrived at the family compound.
He was wearing military trousers and a shirt, his tall figure standing in the family compound, looking towards the entrance. When he saw Bai Zhi riding in on a motorcycle, his eyes flickered, and he strolled over, casually greeting her.
"Dr. Xiaobai, are you off work?"
Bai Zhi stopped her motorcycle and replied with a smile, "Yes, Company Commander Zhou, he just got back."
"Is the clinic busy lately? Why are you back so late? I heard from Sister Guifang that Dr. Ye seems to have gone on a long trip. Are you alone?" Zhou Jianmin asked casually, his hands in his pockets.
Bai Zhi replied, "Yes, my maternal grandfather went back to Nancheng. I've been staying at the clinic these past few days and haven't been able to leave, so I've been coming back quite late."
Bai Zhi parked and locked her motorcycle, then planned to go home, and Zhou Jianmin followed her.
He continued chatting with her, "You've worked hard, Dr. Ye. When are you coming back?"
After he finished speaking, he added, "I mean you'll be much more relaxed when he comes back."
Bai Zhi replied, "Soon, he'll be back at the clinic tomorrow."
As they were talking, Bai Zhi had already arrived at her own doorstep and then smelled the aroma of food.
She sniffed and subconsciously looked towards Zhou Jianmin's door. It was Wang Yumei cooking.
Zhou Jianmin followed behind her, seemingly able to read Bai Zhi's thoughts. He smiled and said, "Your Deputy Battalion Commander Lu is home and cooking."
He had just returned with Lu Ye. Lu Ye said he was going home to cook first and wait for his wife to come back, so he wandered around the family compound and bumped into Bai Zhi, asking about Ye Rufeng.
Upon hearing that Lu Ye was cooking at home, Bai Zhi smiled and said, "I didn't expect him to come home so early today."
She happily took out her keys and opened the door.
After Bai Zhi entered the house, Zhou Jianmin stood there with his hands in his pockets, looking relieved. Doctor Ye would be back tomorrow.
He hasn't had his medication for several days.
Lu Ye was wearing an apron and cooking dinner. When Bai Zhi saw him cooking so earnestly, she felt incredibly touched. She went over and put her arm around his waist. "Oh my, my busy man, you actually came home so early to cook today. That's rare."
When Lu Ye saw his wife return, his eyes softened. He said, "I haven't been that busy lately. I'll be leaving get off work on time for the next few days."
Bai Zhi sighed, "Forget it, I'd better not believe you anymore. You always say you can leave work on time, but then you always have to go on a mission."
Lu Ye smiled, unsure how to comfort his wife, as he himself seemed unable to make any solemn promises.
That's the nature of his job; he often has to deal with unexpected situations, and nobody knows what will happen next.
He was holding a spatula, unable to interact intimately with her, and simply said softly, "Go change your clothes and wash up, dinner will be ready soon."
Bai Zhi changed into her home clothes, washed her face, and Lu Ye had already prepared dinner.
He made corn and pork rib soup, saying it was to nourish her body.
The dishes Bai Zhi served were all delicious and visually appealing; after they got married, this man's culinary skills improved day by day.
Bai Zhi served him rice, then sat down, looking at him with bright eyes, and said, "I have two good news for you."
Lu Ye sat down opposite her, raising an eyebrow. "Good news, two more?"
"Yes, two pieces of good news. First, I have signed a contract with Dean Liu, and they have started preparing for the studio."
Bai Zhi didn't let him guess, but readily announced, "Secondly, Grandpa and Linlin will be back tomorrow."

Today was the day her maternal grandfather and Zhou Lin were returning, so Bai Zhi didn't dare to delay any longer and got up, rubbing her aching body.
Walking into the living room, Lu Ye left a note on the table saying that breakfast was in the pot.
I made her tomato and egg soup and also heated up some steamed buns.
Seeing the breakfast he left and the heartwarming note, she felt the soreness in her body lessen slightly.
After finishing her breakfast, she took a shower and then hurriedly left the house to go to work at the clinic.
Just as I was locking the door, I ran into Wang Yumei again in the hallway. Wang Yumei had her hair styled in a very modern way, with a perm, and was wearing a dress and makeup. She greeted me very warmly.
"Xiaobai, can you take me with you when you leave? I want to go to the county town and visit Sister Guifang. I haven't been to her stall since she started, and I miss her a lot after not seeing her for so many days."

When they arrived at the clinic, Bai Zhi stopped the car and asked Wang Yumei to get out. She pointed out the way to Wang Yumei, "Go into the market across the street and keep walking straight. Sister Guifang has her stall at the very back. You'll see her when you go in."
Wang Yumei, sitting on the motorcycle, had tears streaming down her face from the wind. She said, "It's so early, she probably hasn't set up yet, right? Should I go to your clinic and wait for her?"
