Chapter 600: Encountering Another Patient

Chapter 600: Encountering Another Patient

Bai Zhi drove Lu Ye to the entrance of a shop in the county town and parked the motorcycle.

This time she carefully locked the car and removed the key.

But Old Xia was nowhere to be seen.

They agreed to meet at 2 o'clock, and it's 1:50 now.

She pointed to the closed shops ahead and said to Lu Ye, "This is it."

She explained, "There's a hardware store next door, and the owner, Mr. Zhao, is very helpful."

Just then, Boss Zhao came out of the shop and saw Bai Zhi standing there with a handsome and tall man. He greeted her with a smile, "Miss Bai, you've come over?"

"Yes, Mr. Zhao, my wife and I came to sign the contract together."

Upon hearing that the other party was Bai Zhi's lover, Boss Zhao couldn't help but take a second look. This young man was even more handsome than the one who had injured his arm yesterday, and he was clearly a top figure.

Lu Ye nodded slightly to Boss Zhao, "Hello."

Many gay men's greeting is to offer each other cigarettes, but he doesn't smoke and doesn't have any cigarettes in his pocket.

He thought he should buy a pack of cigarettes and put it in his pocket next time.

"Old Xia hasn't arrived yet? Why don't you wait at my shop?" said Boss Zhao.

Bai Zhi smiled and politely declined, "No need, Mr. Zhao. We'll just wait here. It's almost 2 o'clock, they should be here soon. We can take this opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the surroundings."

The couple walked around the shop.

This street is the most bustling street in the county town, with many shops and a market in front specifically for street vendors.

In short, the foot traffic is quite large.

The two wandered around for twenty minutes, but still couldn't find Boss Xia.

Mr. Lu glanced at his watch and said, "It's past 2 o'clock, why hasn't he arrived yet?"

"I don't know, we agreed to meet at 2 o'clock yesterday."

Bai Zhi guessed that Boss Xia must have been delayed by something. He seemed to be an upright person, and with the introduction from an acquaintance and the shop located here, it was impossible for him to make a mistake.

But the person hasn't arrived yet, which is really making them anxious.

The two then wandered into Boss Zhao's shop to inquire about Lao Xia's situation.

"Old Xia is always reliable, why is he so late today? That shouldn't be the case."

It was already 2:30. Bai Zhi knew that Lu Ye was pressed for time and had to return to the army after finishing his business.

Therefore, she was also somewhat anxious.

She remembered that Mr. Xia said yesterday that his home was in the alley behind the shop.

So she asked Mr. Zhao, "Mr. Zhao, do you know where Mr. Xia lives? I guess something's holding him up at home. My husband and I will go directly to his house to find him, sign the contract, and then head back. We have other things to do this afternoon."

“His house is easy to find. Go in from the alleyway in front, walk two steps forward, and turn left at the second door. If you can’t find it at the alleyway entrance, you can ask someone for directions,” Boss Zhao said with a smile. “I’m the only one in this shop today, and I have to watch the shop. Otherwise, I would have taken you there.”

"Mr. Zhao, no need to trouble yourself, we can find it ourselves, thank you."

Following Boss Zhao's directions, Lu Ye and Bai Zhi entered the alley from the entrance, turned left, and when they reached the door of the second house, they saw the tightly closed green iron gate and knocked on it.

I knocked several times and then waited for someone to open the door.

About a minute later, footsteps were heard in the courtyard.

The green iron gate opened, and Old Xia was taken aback to see Bai Zhi and Lu Ye. "Miss Bai Zhi?"

Bai Zhi explained with a smile, "Mr. Xia, I'm sorry for being so presumptuous. We've been waiting for you at the store entrance for almost half an hour. We had other things to do this afternoon, so we came here instead."

Old Xia looked full of apology.

"I'm the one who should be apologizing. I remembered we were signing the contract. Something came up at home and I was held up. I couldn't leave."

He invited them into the courtyard, saying, "Please come in first."

He explained as he walked, "My wife is sick. She felt unwell again when I was about to go out, so I didn't dare leave her at home alone. I was thinking of going out to find you later."

"Where is your sister-in-law feeling unwell?" Bai Zhi asked curiously.

"She often feels dizzy and nauseous, and gets dizzy as soon as she moves. Last year, we went to the hospital, and they said it was anemia. She took iron supplements for two months, but it didn't help. Then they said it was low blood sugar, and they didn't give her enough nutrition, but she just didn't get better. A couple of days ago, we went to the hospital for a checkup, and they said it might be cervical spondylosis compressing her nerves." Old Xia sighed as he recalled his wife's long journey of seeking medical treatment.

"You get dizzy as soon as you move?" Bai Zhi asked.

Old Xia looked worried. "Yes, she gets dizzy when she sits up, and she gets dizzy when she stands up. She's always dizzy and nauseous on and off. My son is studying away from home, so it's just the two of us at home. I don't feel comfortable leaving her alone at home because she's always dizzy. Just now, as I was about to leave, she sat up and got dizzy again."

"Mr. Xia, I'm a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. If it's convenient, could I take a look at your wife?" Bai Zhi asked, her professional instincts kicking in again when she heard that Old Xia's wife had seen many doctors without getting better.

I just wanted to give someone a diagnosis.

Old Xia hesitated for two seconds, then nodded, "Okay, take a look."

Anyway, I've seen so many doctors, each with their own explanations, and I've taken a ton of medicine, but I still haven't gotten better.

Bai Zhi and Lu Ye followed Lao Xia into the main room.

The house was furnished warmly, with tall and short cabinets, a color TV, a sewing machine, and a fabric sofa...

It's clear that they come from a well-off family.

A middle-aged woman was lying on the bed. Her complexion was fair with a rosy glow, and she did not look like someone who was short of blood and energy.

Old Xia said gently to the woman, "Honey, this is the young woman, Xiao Bai, who wants to rent our shop, and her husband. She's a traditional Chinese medicine doctor; let her take a look at you."

The woman on the bed lay flat, holding her head. "I'm very dizzy, I dare not move."

Bai Zhi said, “Sister-in-law, you don’t need to move. I’ll sit here and take your pulse.”

Bai Zhi sat down and took the woman's pulse on the bed. She carefully examined her pulse, listening, questioning, and palpating, and made a diagnosis.

"Has your sister-in-law suffered a head injury before?" Bai Zhi asked Lao Xia.

"External injury?" Old Xia and his wife exchanged a glance and recalled, "I think he fell and bumped his head the year before last."

Bai Zhi replied, "That's it."

"Miss Bai, what happened? Did my wife bump her head?"

Old Xia's voice trembled when he asked this question, showing how much he loved his wife.
