Chapter 10: I Found a Job
Bai Zhi was unaware of Lu Shan's inner thoughts.
She was unaware that she was being treated specially by Company Commander Lu.
She packed the silver needle box into her cloth bag and said goodbye, "Uncle, Aunt, I'll be going back now."
“Okay.” Lu Zheng’an said to Lu Shan, “Go get Xiao Zhi’s medicine. Your mother and I will see her off.”

This is a long dress; she can just cut off the top half and hem it.
In this hot weather, it's okay to wear something a little shorter.

Bai Zhi glanced at the books on his desk and chuckled, "What books are you reading?"
A little embarrassed, Dr. Zhou put away his beloved martial arts novel and asked Bai Zhi, "May I ask who your ancestors were?"
"Keep it a secret."
"Let's get back to the point." Bai Zhi put away her nonchalant attitude, looked at Doctor Zhou with a serious expression, and said, "Doctor Zhou, isn't there a notice on your door advertising a medicine-dispensing apprentice? I've come here for an interview."

The girl's eyes lit up when she saw the herbs. If she were to go through all the different kinds of Chinese medicine in the cabinet, she would talk until dark and still not finish.
Dr. Zhou felt that Bai Zhi was more professional than him.
He immediately decided to hire her. "Miss Baizhi, my pharmacy pays eighty yuan a month, lunch is provided, I work from eight in the morning to five-thirty in the afternoon, and I get one day off a week. Is that acceptable?"
Upon hearing Doctor Zhou's words, Bai Zhi tilted her head and pondered. If they couldn't stop her from staying at the Lu family's place, would she have to stay there for the time being?

"Come and report for duty at 8:00 AM sharp tomorrow morning."
It was already lunchtime. Bai Zhi came out of Ji Ren Tang, strolled to the street, ate a bowl of refreshing cold noodles, and bought some peaches from roadside vendors to take back to the Lu family.
As she entered the military compound, she saw a neighbor she had met yesterday, and Bai Zhi politely nodded and greeted them.
After she walked away, people started talking about her.
"Is this the country girl that Old Master Lu arranged for Lu Ye?"
"Yes, she's really pretty. After changing her clothes, she doesn't have any of the rustic air of a country girl. She's poised and elegant, and looks quite good."
"What's the use of being pretty? Haven't you seen that Lu Ye still hasn't come back? I heard that Old Lu and Teacher Xie are also avoiding each other. This marriage is doomed to fail."
As soon as Bai Zhi arrived at the door, she heard what sounded like guests in the living room.
