Chapter 165: They Don't Look Like Siblings

Chapter 165: They Don't Look Like Siblings

Bai Zhi didn't continue the topic with Lu Ye, after all, there were too many people talking in the restaurant.

It concerns her uncle's reputation and face.

There are some things you should never let outsiders hear.

"Try this mushroom, it's very tender."

Bai Zhi considerately served Lu Ye some food. Lu Ye smiled slightly, picked up the food Bai Zhi had given him with his chopsticks, and put it in his mouth.

Of course, they also consciously stopped talking about the previous topic.

The two enjoyed their meal happily and did not object to Ye Tiandong leaving the table.

Just as the two of them finished eating, Ye Tiandong and Li Li came in again.

Ye Tiandong's tone was full of apology, "Xiao Zhi, I'm sorry, your aunt wasn't feeling well just now, so I let her rest for a while."

Bai Zhi smiled and said, "Uncle, my aunt is not feeling well, so she should go home and rest early. Pregnant women must keep a relaxed and happy mood and must not be nervous or afraid."

Li Li instinctively retorted, "I wasn't nervous or scared."

Lu Ye raised his eyes and glanced at Li Li's expression again.

She has.

"Have some soup."

Ye Tiandong tasted the tofu soup; it wasn't too cold yet, so he served Li Li half a bowl.

Li Li took the bowl and showered Ye Tiandong with compliments and affection.

Bai Zhi and Lu Ye sat to the side, practically scratching the ground in embarrassment.

After Li Li went out, her attitude towards Bai Zhi became much kinder.

After dinner, Ye Tiandong said he wanted to chat with Bai Zhi more, but Li Li said she didn't feel well and was tired and wanted to rest.

After Li Li finished speaking, she looked at Bai Zhi with an innocent expression and explained, "Xiao Zhi, don't misunderstand. Pregnant women are like this all the time. I didn't mean to spoil your fun."

“There’s no misunderstanding.” Bai Zhi said to Ye Tiandong, “Uncle, why don’t you take Aunt home? We’ll have plenty of opportunities to chat later.”

"Okay, then you should go back early too."

Ye Tiandong then suggested, "Why don't you two stay at my place? There are plenty of empty rooms, and we can chat for a while longer."

Upon seeing this, Li Li's expression became flustered again.

Bai Zhi smiled, having taken in Li Li's expression just now. She politely declined Ye Tiandong's suggestion, "Uncle, let's do it another day."

Li Li breathed a sigh of relief.

Lu Ye's gaze swept over her ever-changing face, his expression subtle.

What is this aunt afraid of?

As the group left the restaurant and were about to get their car, several men wearing floral shirts and gold chains walked towards them.

The man at the front, with his slicked-back hair and a cigarette dangling from his lips, looked at Ye Tiandong and said, "Hey, brother-in-law, the boss is personally seeing off his guest?"

Ye Tiandong frowned slightly when he saw the person who came, but still introduced her politely, "This is my niece."

"Niece?" The man in the floral shirt's gaze lightly fell on Bai Zhi's face. "Why have I never heard you mention having a niece before?"

Lu Ye was very unhappy with the way the man looked at his girlfriend, so he moved to stand in front of Bai Zhi and blocked the uncomfortable gaze.

Ye Tiandong explained, "I just reunited with my niece."

"Oh, I see."

Ye Tiandong didn't introduce the man's identity to Bai Zhi and the others at all; he simply gestured for Lu Yeye to drive.

The man didn't rush into the restaurant. He smoked a cigarette and looked at the woman standing next to Ye Tiandong, trying her best to make her presence known. He said sarcastically, "Lili, why didn't you greet your brother? You've become so cold-hearted since you married the boss. You don't even want to talk to your own brother anymore."

When Li Li was called upon, she could only lower her eyes and give a perfunctory "Brother."

"Let's go inside and eat."

After the man finished speaking, he led the three men behind him into the restaurant.

After taking two steps, he turned back, his gaze seemingly falling on Li Li's stomach.

Then he asked Li Li, "Lili, aren't you going to come and greet us?"

Upon hearing his words, Li Li's pupils contracted slightly, and she instinctively shrank closer to Ye Tiandong.

Ye Tiandong was busy saying goodbye to his niece and didn't notice Li Li's emotional change. He said, "Go in and greet them. Bring two nice dishes, so your brother doesn't think we're stingy."

After Ye Tiandong gave the order, Li Li had no choice but to follow.

After Li Li followed the men into the restaurant, Bai Zhi withdrew her gaze, looked at Ye Tiandong, and asked casually, "Uncle, is this man my aunt's brother?"

Ye Tiandong replied, "Yes, his name is Li Bin."

“They don’t look alike.” Bai Zhi looked puzzled and began to guess. “The two of them seem very different in appearance, temperament and personality. They don’t look like siblings at all.”

Ye Tiandong explained, "Your aunt's mother comes from a blended family."

"So that means he's not your brother?" Bai Zhi's eyes flickered slightly as she smiled and said, "He can't really be considered your brother, since the two of you aren't related by blood."

After she finished speaking, she muttered to herself, "My aunt seems quite afraid of him."

Ye Tiandong glanced at the direction of the gate they entered through, frowned, and said, "Li Bin has been involved in the underworld for years. Your aunt is timid and has been avoiding him, of course, because she doesn't want to offend him."

Upon hearing this, Bai Zhi nodded thoughtfully, "Oh, I see. My aunt seems to have something on her that someone can use against her."

Upon hearing Bai Zhi mention something incriminating, Ye Tiandong's expression turned serious. "It's a long story."

Judging from his tone, it seemed as if Li Bin really had something on Li Li.

Ye Tiandong was unable to leave for the time being because Li Li had gone into the restaurant again.

Bai Zhi stood beside Ye Tiandong and said with a smile, "Uncle, let's chat with you for a while before we leave."

"Okay." Ye Tiandong was also very happy to chat with his niece more.

Li Li was always uncomfortable here and there, making it impossible for her to speak properly.

Bai Zhi looked at Ye Tiandong with a gossipy expression, "How did you meet my aunt? She seems to be a little younger than you."

Ye Tiandong replied, "We met at a dinner party."
