Chapter 18: The Bad Seed

Chapter 18 The Bad Seed

The two girls didn't dare to say a word. The second girl muttered softly, "Don't be upset, mother. My third sister and I were really pissed off by Lu Wanning today. You don't know how powerful she was in Prince Qi's mansion today. Not to mention Princess Qi, even Princess Yongning treated her very well."

Madam Chen said coldly, "Alright, why did I keep you two impatient losers? Do you really think marrying her into Prince Qi's mansion will bring her happiness? Just wait and see."

The second and third girls were very angry, while Lu Wanning followed Qi Muchao to the suburbs.

She didn't know how to ride a horse, and Qi Muchao was too lazy to teach her. He reached out and pulled her onto his horse's back and said slowly, "Hold on tight. This horse is blind. I can't help if you fall off and get stepped on."

Lu Wanning was originally sitting in the back. She was worried that Qi Muchao's body would fall apart if he was shaken by the horse, so she carefully protected him from behind, holding his belt with both hands.

This vague embrace inexplicably reminded her of the person's tight waistline under the clothes.

Suddenly, I felt the belt under my hand was a little hot. I didn't know whether to hold it or not.

Before she could finish her thoughts, Qi Muchao shouted "go!" and the horse started galloping wildly, and Lu Wanning almost fell off.

She quickly lay down on Qi Muchao's back, and to prevent him from deliberately throwing her off, she clasped her hands together so tightly that they could not be pulled apart.

Qi Muchao was strangled and felt numb all over as if he had been electrocuted. "Let go."

Lu Wanning said nothing, but she didn't let up at all. Afraid that he would stop, she deliberately pulled her hand away and leaned over to the horse and said, "Go."

Qi Muchao: "..."

This is the first time I've seen someone so bold and yet so afraid of death.

Arriving at the house in the suburbs, Qi Muchao knocked on the door. The person inside cautiously opened it a crack, and when he saw him, he quickly opened it, "Prince."

"Well," Qi Muchao asked, "Is he awake?"

"The younger one is fine now. He's been seen by a doctor. He cried all day and only ate something because he was extremely hungry. He should be asleep by now."

"As for the older one, he's seriously injured. Wei Xun's men stabbed him in the abdomen today. Besides that, he has other old wounds that are now festering. He won't let anyone get close to him. The doctor was so frightened by him that he didn't dare to approach him. My subordinates had no choice but to give him some random medicine."

Lu Wanning followed Qi Muchao into the room.

The room smelled strongly of medicine, and besides that, there was also a rather unpleasant stench of decay.

Qi Muchao's steps obviously paused, and Lu Wanning pulled him out, "Prince, wait here, I'll be out soon."

Qi Muchao naturally didn't listen to her. He took out a snow-white handkerchief, covered his mouth and nose, and walked straight inside.

After looking through the screen, I saw a haggard young man. His hair was like weeds and his beard had not been trimmed for a long time, covering half of his face and making it difficult to see his appearance.

His eyes were bloodshot and he stared at the door like a wild beast.

Qi Muchao frowned and found a chair to sit down. Lu Wanning walked over to the bed and glanced at him. "You won't let anyone apply the medicine. Are you planning to give up on yourself? What? You don't plan to care about Sang Mingyue's life or death?"

Hearing Sang Mingyue's name, the man forced himself to scan Lu Wanning's appearance with his eyes. After confirming that he had never seen this person before, he said in a hoarse voice, "Who are you?"

"You wouldn't recognize her even if I told you, but if you don't take medicine to heal your wounds, you won't be able to protect Sang Mingyue, let alone Sang Zhiyu."

Perhaps he realized that Lu Wanning had no ill intentions, and that she knew his young lady and son, so although he did not let down his guard, he stopped struggling and refused to allow others to approach.

Lu Wanning lifted He Maosheng's shirt and took a look at the festering wound. She asked someone to bring some liquor and said, "Your injury needs to be treated quickly. Fortunately, I brought some painkillers."

He Maosheng felt a little embarrassed and turned his face away and closed his eyes.

The man's legs were covered with whip wounds and stick wounds, one on top of another, it was a horrible sight.

It looked very much like a lynching.

In addition, the weather was hot, the wound was not properly treated, and he did not get enough rest. Now it has become festered. If it is treated later, maggots may be born.

It can be seen that the people who tortured him were aiming to take his life.

The smell in the room was not pleasant. Lu Wanning could tell that Prince Qi had reached his limit, so before treating his wound, she reminded him, "Prince, why don't you wait outside? I'm afraid it will take some time."

Qi Muchao endured it again and again, "No need."

Qi Muchao asked the servants to bring the things Lu Wanning needed, and walked to the door and gave a few more instructions.

Lu Wanning didn't care. After treating the wound, her attention was all on He Maosheng's injuries.

Even with the painkillers, the pain of cutting out the rotten flesh could not be completely suppressed. Seeing He Maosheng shaking in pain, she kept moving her hands and started talking to him.

"Have you checked on Wei Xun?"

He Maosheng's voice was hoarse as a broken gong. "I've checked."

Once my thoughts shifted, the pain seemed to be much lighter.

He continued, "But Wei Xun is too cautious and never leaves any evidence behind. It's extremely difficult to catch him."

He Maosheng gritted his teeth and said, "A man like him must have bribed everyone in the government long ago. It's impossible to bring him down. It would be better to just kill him directly."

"Since you think so, it seems Sang Mingyue thinks so too." No wonder in her previous life she would risk her life to assassinate Wei Xun alone, again and again.

Lu Wanning sprinkled blood powder on the wound where the rotting flesh had been gouged out. This tragic scene really piqued her curiosity. Without even raising her eyelids, she asked casually, "Can I ask why you are so miserable?"

He Maosheng's Adam's apple rolled with difficulty. "They said I coveted the new concubine in the mansion. I don't know why. I clearly fell asleep in my own room, but when I woke up, I found myself in the concubine's room."

"Later, I was driven out of the Sang Mansion by the master, but I always felt that Wei Xun was untrustworthy. A few days ago, the master..."

At this point, the anger in his chest made his throat choke. "When the master was in trouble, I wanted to go to the Sang Mansion to find the young lady and ask her to be more cautious about Wei Xun, but he caught me and I almost lost my life."

Sang Mingyue is a smart man and must have noticed something, which is why Wei Xun can't wait to wipe out the entire Sang Mansion.

Lu Wanning gritted her teeth. He was indeed a bad guy, and the tricks he used were pretty much the same.

The wound was almost healed, and after carefully wrapping the gauze around it and finishing it, Lu Wanning pointed out a clear path for He Maosheng. "Three years ago, a concubine in the Chen Mansion was accused of committing adultery with the accountant, a man whom the Chen master trusted very much. In the end, the accountant had his legs broken and was thrown out of the mansion, and the concubine committed suicide by hanging. Does this plot sound familiar?"
