Chapter 10 The Lost Child at the Japanese Experimental Base
Ji An and Tang Ning searched the entire first floor of the building and finally found the entrance to the basement in an ordinary room.
"Mr. Ji, how did you know there was a basement here?" Tang Ning asked out of curiosity. When Ji An didn't answer, Tang Ning stopped asking.
When you open the door leading to the underground base, you will see a staircase that two people can walk side by side. As the staircase extends further, you can only see darkness and cannot see what is going on inside.
When Ji An was preparing to escape, he thought of this experimental base. Although he was not sure whether he would really come at that time, he still took Chen Chen's flashlight in case the underground base was too dark and he could not see the road clearly.
After ventilating for a long time, Ji An took Tang Ning down the stairs when he felt it was about time.
He was in front, Tang Ning was behind, both of them held their weapons tightly, fully alert, making sure to strike back immediately if there was any abnormality.
The stairs leading to the underground foundation are made of iron. Over the years, they have become rusty and some parts have even been corroded and are in tatters.
When Ji An stepped on it, it made a creaking sound and seemed to be about to collapse at any time.
This made the two of them walk on it with very light steps.
The creaking sound echoed in the silent air, and it seemed to carry an echo, which made people nervous and fearful.
Tangning was so nervous that she kept swallowing. From her angle, she couldn't tell whether Ji An was nervous or not.
She thought that the boss didn’t need to be nervous because he had the confidence.
Yes, to Tang Ning, someone like Ji An who could independently deal with a level 2 zombie was a big shot.
The underground base was too dark, and the light from the flashlight was swallowed up, making it impossible to see clearly. The only thing I could see clearly was the small area in front of me.
Finally, they walked down the stairs and about another hundred meters before they encountered the first door.
The door was locked, and it was obviously unrealistic to find the key, but Ji An didn't need a key. He took out a piece of wire, which was the same wire that pried open Tang Tang's window. Now Ji An used the wire to pry open the security door in front of him again.
Ji An put his ear to the door, and heard the subtle sound of the wire moving the keyhole. Then there was a clear click, and a smile appeared on Ji An's lips. The door opened.
"Mr. Ji, you can do this, that's amazing!" Tang Ning exclaimed.
Ji An didn't answer anything. Who would have such a prejudiced skill as to allow a good child to do so?
It was all caused by some tragic experiences. The older children in the orphanage would bully the younger ones, often kicking them out of their rooms in the middle of the night and then locking the doors.
Ji An gradually learned how to pick the lock. After the older children fell asleep, he would open the door and sneak back in.
"Let's go. Be alert and watch out for something behind the door." Ji An reminded.
"Yes." Tangning agreed and became alert.
With a gentle push, the door made an old creaking sound, and thick dust flew all over his face. Fortunately, Ji An covered himself tightly, otherwise he would have choked and coughed repeatedly. Through the tight protective clothing, Ji An seemed to be able to smell the musty smell.
As the door was slowly pushed open, darkness rushed out like a monster with a wide mouth, waiting for people to fall into its trap and then swallow them into its belly.
It was quiet, eerily quiet, with no sound in the entire space. It was this silence that frightened and terrified people.
"If you're scared, you can leave now." Ji An said, noticing Tangning's panic.
"No." Tangning was very firm, "We agreed to be together, so I will never abandon you halfway."
"We never talked about it together." Ji An said indifferently: "I said I'm not responsible for your safety."
Tangning chuckled, "But you've saved me twice. But if this time we encounter a danger that you can't handle, you can fulfill your original promise, let me go, and leave on your own."
Ji An didn't say anything else, just said calmly: "Be careful."
Ji An took light steps and walked into the mouth of the man-eating monster first, followed by Tang Ning.
I shone the flashlight into the distance, but couldn't see anything.
Ji An looked around and found that he was in a corridor with a room on the right.
The door was broken and I shone the flashlight inside, but still couldn't see anything.
Ji An did not walk in rashly, but picked up the broken wooden board on the ground and threw it in through the big hole in the door.
A dull sound was heard and thick dust flew up. When the dust settled, there was still no sound in the room.
Ji An then kicked the door open and shone the flashlight into the small area he could see. Seeing nothing inside, he walked in.
The room seemed large and empty, with no furniture to be seen.
As he was walking, Ji An felt like he stepped on something. He looked down and saw that it was a leg bone.
Ji An frowned slightly, walked around the leg bone and continued to move forward.
This time, I didn't realize there were two beds in the middle until I walked to the middle. The beds were very close to each other, about the distance enough for one person to pass through.
The flashlight swept across the two beds, and Tang Ning behind him gasped when he saw the scene on the beds.
There were still broken skeletons and fragments of limbs on the two beds. There was a skull on each bed, staring at Ji An and the others with their big black holes.
There was a treatment tray at the head of the bed, on which lay a broken scalpel and a treatment forceps.
There were monitors next to both beds, but one was intact while the other had fallen to the ground and broken into pieces.
Ji An was not picky, he placed his hands on the monitors and put away the two monitors front and back.
Just at this time, I saw two folders next to the monitor. I opened them and found that they were two medical records.
Tangning leaned in to take a look, but could only make out a few words. "This is Japanese, Mr. Ji, do you understand Japanese?"
"Yeah, I understand a little bit." However, Tangning looked at Ji An reading the text carefully and it didn't look like he understood a little bit.
As Ji An read deeper, his frown deepened. Tangning asked curiously, "Mr. Ji, what does it say?"
"It's the medical records of these two people." Ji An replied, turned a page, glanced at it quickly and threw it aside.
"These are two patients? But aren't all operating rooms single? How could these two people be operated on at the same time?" Tang Ning suspected that he had been in the apocalypse for too long and his memory was confused, so he must have remembered it wrongly.
"Yes, the surgery is done in a single room, but this is a kidney transplant." Disgust flashed across Ji An's eyes, "Kidney transplant surgery requires a living kidney."
Tang Ning thought that there was a hospital up there, and that the kidney transplant surgery was not performed up there, but was an experiment in an underground base. He immediately understood everything.
"So this is a black hospital and is not qualified to perform kidney transplants, or the kidney source is not legal," Tangning said in shock.
Ji An nodded, "The person whose kidney was removed was a 17-year-old boy. He was in good health and had no illness. His name was Li Yaozu."
"Li Yaozu, why does this name sound familiar? I seem to have heard it somewhere before." Tangning tapped her head and suddenly said, "I remember now, this is the missing student from our boarding school."
After Tangning reminded him, Ji An also had a vague impression, "He suddenly disappeared from school. It was a big deal. The police and his parents searched for him for a long time but couldn't find him. How did he appear here? Could he have been abducted?"
"I'm afraid not." Ji An found a medical record cabinet in the corner and pulled out several medical records. Almost all of them were organ replacement surgeries. There was even a heart replacement surgery, but this time it was obviously an experiment. The recipients and recipients were all Chinese, all 17 or 18-year-old students, healthy and without any diseases, but the experiment failed.
"This should be the Japanese laboratory and organ surgery room." Ji An raised the medical record folder in his hand. "These medical records are all organ transplant records. And except for the medical records of individual failed experiments, the organ recipients and organ removers in all surgeries were a Japanese and a Chinese."
Tangning's expression changed as well. She asked with certainty, "All the organ recipients are Japanese, and the people whose organs were removed are Chinese?"
"Yes." Ji An nodded, "And these forced donors are all healthy boys and girls around 17 or 18 years old."
Ji An mentioned a few familiar names, and Tangning's eyes became more fierce. "I remember these children. They are all missing children. Three of them were classmates of Li Yaozu. That school must be related to this Japanese-run hospital."
Ji An remembered, "The school where Li Yaozu disappeared was a foreign-funded school invested by the Japanese. Now it seems that the students in that school are all living organs kept by these Japanese. Once these Japanese need to replace their organs, the school will match their organs with the students under the pretext of doing a physical examination, and then select the healthiest one with the highest matching degree from the successful matches."
"Fuck it." Tangning cursed softly, "Why didn't those Japanese die in this zombie virus? How despicable!"
Since there was nothing else of value found during the operation, Ji An took Tang Ning away.
The two continued walking deeper into the corridor, and this time there was a fork, with a road on the left.
Ji An still chose to go to the right. There was still a broken door that was not locked, and bones scattered on the ground, but the good thing was that there was no danger.
Without Ji An's reminder, Tang Ning discovered that this room was a laboratory. There were many experimental equipment and vessels that Tang Ning was not familiar with.
Tangning felt that these lab equipment must be very valuable, because she noticed that Ji An's attitude towards these lab equipment was very different from that towards the monitor just now. He cherished them more and was more careful with them.
There were a lot of experimental equipment, but they were collected very quickly and were all stored in the space within a few minutes.
The two continued forward and found a laboratory. Ji An was about to follow the same method to enter when suddenly a pair of withered hands came out from the door.
The hands seemed not to be afraid of the pain, and they thrust straight out, carrying the wooden board and attacking Ji An's face.
Ji An leaned back slightly and swung his right hand. A cold light slid down the edge in the air, and then his skinny arm fell down. Blood splattered and dripped onto Ji An's body.
However, even though his arm was cut off, the broken and bloody stump continued to poke forward, as if it wanted to stab Ji An to death with it.
Ji An raised his knife and slashed it down. Another cold light fell and the zombie's two arms were cut off at the root.
This action seemed to anger the zombie. It whimpered angrily and actually bit Ji An with its mouth.
