Chapter 109 Little Beauty (1/2)

Nighttime, in a hotel private room.

The air was thick with the smells of alcohol and cigars, and somewhat stuffy.

Director Li Mo sat back in the main seat, his hair slightly disheveled, and his usually sharp eyes were now clearly tinged with drunkenness.

Sitting next to him was screenwriter Fang Wenjun, a capable middle-aged woman.

Li Mo slurred his words, his voice muffled: "You tell me, our 'War and Chaos' has been polished for three years! Three years! Every single word of the script has been meticulously crafted, what was it all for? Wasn't it just to tell a story with real substance?"

"It tells the story of those three years, the transition between the old and the new, the tearing apart of people's hearts, and the crushing of ideals against reality. What a wonderful story."

He became more and more agitated as he spoke: "But the market won't buy it, and I have no choice but to shoot some fast-paced dramas for now."

Looking back, what kind of rubbish were we filming?

"These are all shows made to please investors and promote those wooden beauties and popular young idols. Can you even call them shows?"

"The plot logic is so bad, I feel ashamed to even put my name, Li Mo, on it."

He gulped down a mouthful of tea, as if trying to swallow the pent-up frustration.

"If it weren't for the generous budget from the big spender behind me, I wouldn't be doing this!"

Executive producer Li Jinfu, sitting on the other side of Li Mo, was a middle-aged man with a shiny forehead.

He chuckled and tried to smooth things over: "Director Li, calm down, calm down! It's all in the past now!"

"The market has its own demands, and we need to eat too, right?"

As he spoke, he winked at Wang Hai, the assistant director who was sitting next to him.

Assistant director Wang Hai, a smooth and worldly man, immediately raised his glass in agreement: "Yes, yes, yes, Producer Li is right. Director Li, you are a great artist with a long-term vision."

"We've finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel. We've raised enough funds for 'The Chaos of War,' and it's sure to be a success."

Screenwriter Fang Wenjun coldly observed this hypocritical agreement, a mocking smile curving her lips. She picked up her juice, took a small sip, and remained silent.

Seeing that the atmosphere seemed to have eased a bit, Li Jinfu leaned forward slightly, lowered his voice, and glanced at the men present: "However, let's just talk about this behind closed doors."

"Later, a young artist from Shen's Media is coming over to have a couple of drinks with Director Li and talk about the role."

"Young lady, you're easily embarrassed, don't say these things in front of others."
