Chapter 164 Heartwarming Daily Life

Over the weekend, Gu Chengyu had long since turned down all those messy invitations he used to have. His only hobby now was to fatten up his little girl until she was fair and tender, and then devour her in one bite. [A Sudden Idea for Breakfast] When he woke up in the morning, the little girl in his arms was still fast asleep, her long hair spread across the pillow, her little face buried in his chest, her breathing shallow. He carefully pulled his arm away, looked down at her for a moment, and then quietly got out of bed. When Su Qianqian finished washing up and came out of the bedroom, she smelled a faint aroma of toast. Gu Chengyu, wearing a simple black T-shirt and casual trousers, was standing by the open island counter, fiddling with something. There were no cutlery there, only a coffee machine and the breakfast machine he had just ordered to be brought from the kitchen. The toast that popped out of the breakfast machine was black, emitting a toasty aroma. Su Qianqian stared at this scene, somewhat dazed. "Awake?" He looked up at her. Su Qianqian walked over and hugged his waist from behind, rubbing her face against his broad back. "Good morning, Ayu." "Good morning." He ignored the burnt food he had prepared, picked up a slice of toast that Aunt Zhang had prepared, spread some of her favorite blueberry jam on it, and held it to her lips. "Eat something first." Taking a small bite from his hand, Su Qianqian asked indistinctly, "Aren't you going out today?" "No." Gu Chengyu answered decisively, wiping a bit of jam from the corner of her mouth with his finger. "I'll stay home with you." After finishing the simple breakfast, he pulled her to sit on the sofa in the living room. A currently popular urban soap opera was playing on the TV screen. Gu Chengyu used to scoff at such things, but now he could patiently watch an episode or two with her. Seeing the male lead misunderstand the female lead in the drama, Su Qianqian puffed up her cheeks in anger: "Why won't he listen to explanations?!" Gu Chengyu raised an eyebrow and pinched her cheek: "Idiot." It was unclear whether he was referring to the male lead in the drama or disliking the plot. Su Qianqian retorted: "But he loves her so much!" "Love?" Gu Chengyu chuckled, putting his arm around her shoulder, "Love isn't something you see with your eyes, it's something you see here." His fingertip tapped her heart. Then he added: "And you need a brain too." [The Music Room] In the afternoon, the sun shone brightly. On a whim, Gu Chengyu took her to the music room he had hardly ever used. There were various instruments here; he wouldn't say he was an expert, but he could play them all. He sat on the piano bench and patted the spot next to him. "Want to try?" He casually pressed a few keys, producing a smooth melody. Su Qianqian sat down curiously, mimicking him by extending her fingers, but the sounds she made were scattered and disjointed. Gu Chengyu wrapped his arms around her from behind, his large hand covering the back of her hand, guiding her to press each key one by one. "Silly," he whispered in her ear, his breath brushing against her earlobe, a smile playing on his lips. The little girl in his arms became unhappy, pulling her hand away from his large hand, her fingers randomly pressing a series of noises on the keys, then giggling to herself. Gu Chengyu wasn't annoyed, letting her be. He continued teaching her, explaining the sheet music for various instruments and the stories of the famous people behind them. Although Su Qianqian sometimes teased him, most of the time she listened attentively, asking questions like a curious child. Occasionally, he would hold her on his lap, open the stock market app, and, looking at the complex charts and financial news, explain the underlying capital operations and the impact of the situation. However, the little girl in his arms usually couldn't stay awake for more than ten minutes. Those curves and numbers were like the best lullaby; her little head would quickly nod, eventually tilting against his chest. Gu Chengyu stopped talking, looking down at the peacefully sleeping Su Qianqian in his arms. He watched her for a while before letting out a helpless yet indulgent chuckle, carefully adjusting her position to make her more comfortable. Hmm, he was almost certain; his little girl was a humanities student.
