Gu Chengyu frowned. He immediately wanted to refuse, but Zhou Yu'an also held his other hand, shook his head, and signaled him to let go of Su Qianqian.
Gu Chengyu's expression darkened. He looked at Zhou Yu'an with displeasure: "Yu'an, what do you mean by this? Where does she intend to take Qianqian?"
Zhou Yu'an stepped forward and lowered his voice: "Chengyu, trust me this once."
Immediately, Zhou Yu'an gave Dr. Lin a wink, and Dr. Lin nodded, helped Su Qianqian up, and led her out of the banquet hall toward the side gate leading to the garden.
"What exactly do you want?" Gu Chengyu's voice turned cold, his gaze following Su Qianqian's slightly unsteady back, full of worry and displeasure.
"There are some things I'd like to ask for you."
Zhou Yu'an pushed up his glasses: "Have you forgotten what I studied? Psychology. I suspect she's not sincere with you."
Seeing Gu Chengyu's suddenly pale face, he added:
"Rest assured, Dr. Lin is a top professional and would never harm Miss Su in the slightest."
"We'll follow right behind you and won't let her out of your sight."
"I just wanted to help you test her out..."
"Test her feelings for you to see how much of it is genuine and how much is fake."
"Don't you even want to know what she's after in being with you?"
Gu Chengyu's jawline tightened. He wanted to say that he had guessed wrong. How could Qianqian not be sincere towards him?
Moreover, he loathed the feeling of being tested and was even less willing to be treated like this by Qianqian.
But Zhou Yu'an's words were like a thorn, bringing out the deepest unease in his heart.
Their beginning was so terrible, but her dependence and affection came too quickly and too purely, sometimes making him feel it was unreal.
Ultimately, his desire to confirm her genuine longing temporarily overcame his protective instincts.
He gritted his teeth, his gaze fixed on the direction of the garden, and his voice squeezed out from between his teeth: "Just this once."
"Yu'an, if you scare her..."
"Nothing will happen, Chengyu, I promise you," Zhou Yu'an assured him.
