Chapter 19 Nourishment (2/2)

This is a complete set of clothes that Gu Chengyu had sent over before he left, and it was placed on the headboard of his bed.

This is the first time she has worn such an exquisite dress in the more than half a month since she came into this world.

On the bedside table, her phone started vibrating, and the words "Sister Shu" appeared on the screen.

Su Qianqian's heart skipped a beat.

Oh no, she overslept; it's already afternoon.

She hurriedly picked up her phone, took a deep breath, and then pressed the answer button.

"Su Qianqian! Where the hell have you been?"

"What time is it? Where are you? You're not answering your phone or replying to your messages. Do you even respect me as your boss? Do you want to quit?"

Lin Shu's sharp, angry voice exploded from the receiver, filled with undisguised rage, making it particularly jarring.

Su Qianqian was startled by the barrage of angry words and felt a little wronged.

But it was indeed her fault; she overslept and forgot to ask for leave.

She immediately apologized in a soft, sweet voice, filled with utmost sincerity: "I'm sorry, Sister Shu, I'm so sorry!"

"I...I suddenly felt really unwell this morning, my head was very dizzy, and I felt lightheaded. I just woke up...I didn't mean to..."

As she spoke, she took small steps to sit on the sofa, gently placed her phone on the coffee table, and turned on speakerphone.

Then, she stretched out her two slender white hands and quietly covered her pink little ears, leaving a small gap.

This way, Lin Shu's voice wouldn't be completely obscured, and some of the harsh insults would also be blocked out.

"Not feeling well? I think you're just making excuses to slack off! You've only been here a few days and you've already learned to be cunning? Do you know how much work has been delayed because you were away?"

"A country bumpkin like you from a small town, who would hire you if I didn't take pity on you?"

"Don't they know any manners?! Do they think they're something special?"

Lin Shu's anger was clearly not something that could be quelled by a simple apology; one harsh word after another rained down upon her.

Su Qianqian covered her little ears, her face slightly furrowed, her long eyelashes drooping, casting a small shadow under her eyes.

Listening to the muffled curses coming from the speakerphone, she would occasionally whisper into the phone, "Um... I'm sorry, Sister Shu..."

"I know I was wrong..."

"It won't happen again..."

"Uh-huh…"

He looked both obedient and timid, with a hint of grievance and a docile expression of knowing he was in the wrong but forcing himself to apologize.

Like a kitten being scolded by its owner, clearly scared but too afraid to hide, it can only cover its little ears and whimper softly.

Her entire attention was focused on dealing with Lin Shu on the other end of the phone, and she didn't notice that the suite door had been closed and shut at some point.

Gu Chengyu is back.

He took off his sharp suit jacket and casually draped it over his arm, wearing only a black shirt with the top two buttons undone, revealing a small patch of pale skin and a defined collarbone.

He had just punished those old guys on the board of directors, and the anger from the meeting hadn't subsided yet; his brows still showed impatience.

But at this moment, his gaze was firmly drawn to the little girl in the living room. (This chapter has been finished. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
