Gu Chengyu watched her get out of bed by herself, put on her slippers, and slowly go to the bathroom before walking out. He felt a little empty inside, but he still quickly followed her.
Breakfast was already laid out in the restaurant.
Su Qianqian sipped the porridge slowly, feeling her stomach warm up and much more comfortable, but she still didn't say much.
Gu Chengyu sat next to her, barely touching his own portion, his gaze fixed on her.
His phone vibrated, and he immediately picked it up to look at it. It was a message from the head of public relations, with a link to a statement released by the foundation's official account.
His eyes lit up, and he immediately handed the phone screen to Su Qianqian.
“Qianqian, look.” He said with a hint of self-satisfaction.
"The statement has been issued; the marriage is canceled."
"I will not marry anyone else."
Su Qianqian glanced at the screen, which displayed a statement from the Gu Group's official account denying all rumors of a marriage alliance.
The tension in her heart eased slightly, but she still didn't smile. She just gave a soft "hmm" and lowered her head to continue sipping her porridge.
Gu Chengyu was stunned.
This reaction was completely unexpected.
He thought she would be happy and would laugh.
Why is she still unhappy?
He was incredibly conflicted, his brows furrowed, and he couldn't help but reach out and take her other small hand, which was resting on the table.
"What's wrong? Still not happy? The marriage alliance has been called off."
Su Qianqian tried to pull her hand away, but he held it tightly.
She looked up at him, and the calmness in her watery almond-shaped eyes made Gu Chengyu's heart race.
Her voice was soft, but every word struck his heart: "Gu Chengyu, do you really not care if others call me a mistress behind my back, a third party who ruins other people's marriages?"
Gu Chengyu was stunned, and subconsciously replied, "No one dares to scold my woman."
Su Qianqian was even angrier; she felt they were on completely different wavelengths.
She abruptly pulled her hand back, her face flushed slightly with emotion, making her look both charming and angry.
"No one dares to criticize him to his face! But what about behind his back? Online?"
"Gu Chengyu, do you think that as long as you can't see or hear, those words don't exist? And that I won't be sad?"
She became increasingly aggrieved as she spoke: "This isn't how you love someone!"
“You’ve put me in a very awkward position; everyone thinks I’m your canary.”
"You appease me when you're happy, and you arrange a marriage to spite me when you're unhappy. You've never considered things from my perspective!"
Gu Chengyu was stunned by her barrage of questions.
He watched as her eyes reddened with anger, and he felt anxious and flustered. He vaguely understood something, but he didn't quite grasp it.
