After lunch, the sun shone brightly, lazily spilling onto the living room carpet.
Su Qianqian had just put down her chopsticks and was about to slip back to her room when her wrist was gently pulled from behind.
"What?" She turned around, her voice still awkward, her eyes glancing elsewhere, refusing to look at him.
Gu Chengyu didn't say anything, but with a little force, he turned her around, put his arm around her waist, and gently pressed her down onto the soft sofa.
He sat down as well, turning his body slightly to the side, and pulled her over forcefully yet gently, forcing her to lean against him.
Su Qianqian twisted her body, indignant. They hadn't made up yet, so how could he hug her?
"Let go..."
Gu Chengyu tightened his grip on her arm, nuzzled his chin against the top of her fragrant hair, and whispered in her ear in a low, deep voice:
"Don't move, let me hold you for a while."
He paused, then got to the point, his tone unusually apologetic: "I've seen all that nonsense online."
Su Qianqian's body stiffened slightly. Recalling those vulgar words and the fact that everyone said she was Shen Que's lover, her eyes welled up with tears again. She pursed her lips and remained silent.

"Yesterday I was so focused on making you jealous that I didn't notice in time and you suffered because of it."
“I’ve already asked Assistant Zhao to handle it. Every single account that’s insulting you will be dealt with; they will all receive a lawyer’s letter from the Gu family.”
His tone was cold and stern, but it softened quickly as he lowered his head to seek her lips. "This will never happen again, I promise."
Su Qianqian turned her head away from his kiss, her small hand pressed against his hard chest, her voice muffled and tinged with coquettishness: "Your promises are not credible."
"You just bully me. You made me sick before and gave me the silent treatment for so long."
"And yesterday, I saw someone say that I slept with Shen Que. When I tried to find you, I saw the news that you were getting married to another woman. Everyone said you two were a perfect match..."
She recounted his crimes, feeling increasingly aggrieved as she spoke, tears welling up in her eyes, threatening to spill over, making her look utterly pitiful.
Looking at her like this, Gu Chengyu felt his heart melt, filled with both pain and regret.
He lowered his head and kissed her moist eye corner without saying a word. Tasting the slightly salty taste, he felt even worse.
